For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

mollyroger · 13/07/2009 20:20

hello! madly busy! love to all xx

TigerFeet · 13/07/2009 20:33

OsBa! Are you back for the summer? Have you been watching the shambles cricket?

Molly I was in York this W/E to do inlaw bashing. I hadn't registered that you live up that way. It's a lovely part of the country.

LR I hope dd2 and your niece are both on the mend soon.

I'd love dd to do ballet or similar, but she is a limpet child and won't do anything unless I'm holding her hand. We've had to give up on gymnastics and singing, both of which I thought she'd love, because she wouldn't even attempt to join in even if I stayed with her. I've been thinking of discussing her clinginess on MN further but haven't yet [head in sand emoticon]

Mixed beans
onion
tomato

SuperBunny · 13/07/2009 21:16

LR, how is your niece?

Mixed fruit (berries, nectarines)
Banana
Stir fry (2)
Blueberries
onion
raisins

TigerFeet · 13/07/2009 21:20

Hello SB, how are you settling in?

pinkspottywellies · 13/07/2009 22:09

TF did we decide on a day? Can you decide if not! I think my dd might freak your dd out a little if she's limpet like. Mine is all precocious confident and will hold your dd's hand and say 'follow me'

littlerach · 14/07/2009 08:10

Dd2 still has a sore throat.
But her temp seems okay now.
No school again.

Neice is still in. She is having antibiotics untils they can find out what is actually wrong. Apparebtly she screams when the consultant comes into the room, then when the nurse comes in which is much better than the silence from Sunday.

SB, is UK as good as you remember
Is ds settling in okay?
Do you have an interview soon?

TigerFeet · 14/07/2009 09:49

Pink I'm really sorry, I meant to reply to your FB message last night and then promptly fell asleep . Would Friday be OK? DD has a dentist appt on Wed that may involve a tooth extraction - not condusive to a happy day out afterwards. I'll reply properly tonight, I can't FB at work.

I think it will do her good to be dragged off by a confident younger child, bring her out of her shell. Maybe. Hopefully.

LR I'm chuffed to hear that your dd is improving. And screaming babies are such a relief after one that's too quiet.

MayorNaze · 14/07/2009 11:28

good morning

rest of yesterday:
brocolli
carrots
peas

so far today:
peach
passion fruit
banana

once more have been cleaning like a beeatch - do not get me wrong, i do not live in a show home and have normal standrads of cleanliness and tidyness etc however it looked like an utter pooheap this morning and so off to the toilet duk i went

and am pausing for coffee

dd2 is watching beebies doing educational activities while i zoom around in a cloud of dust.

we do not do ballet in this house at the moment. dd1 had a brief flirtation with it but there were not enough angelina-esque moves for her liking

so we have gymnastics. and football. and swimming (both ds). and rainbows.

god help us when dd2 is big enough for all of these delights

MayorNaze · 14/07/2009 11:28

glad things are looking up littlerach

littlerach · 14/07/2009 13:05

Back from nurses again

Her ear has fluid in (??) and very red so has given abs.
She has warned tha they may not work as it may be something else. No school til Friday, if she is better then.
But it isn't contagious, if an infection, which is a relief.

tomatoes
peach
raisns

I need to clear up, Mayor, but dd2 is asleep on my arm

FrayedKnot · 14/07/2009 16:15

LR poor DD2, she is going through it isn;t she? It's hard work on you too when they are poorly.

I'm not quite sure what's been happening because I missed a day, hope everyone else is OK.

I went to a cricket match last night which is not the sort of thing I normally do on a Monday night, so all the nicer for that!

F&V rather variable right now. Have just tried to mitigate things with a bowl of strawbs.

The girl that I sit next to at work went home at 11 this morning with a very slight possibility of having the flu....

Am trying not to think about it

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 14/07/2009 20:35

Your poor dd LR, I hope she feels better soon.

banana x2
cucumber x2
tomatoes x2
carrot
cauliflower
apple x2
salad leaves
coleslaw

10/10 - I RAN back from toddler group this morning. It was pissing down. I was so wet it soaked through to my knickers.

Baby Lemur had the bad manners to bitch about having a rain cover on the buggy whilst I was getting soaked

SuperBunny · 14/07/2009 20:39

Had interviews today. Unfortunately I decided it would be a good idea to pain some clear nail varnish on my nails in the car just before I went in. It doesn't look good smeared all over a black suit

Hope DD2 gets better soon, LR. Poor thing

Cricket on a Monday night sounds very civilised.

SuperBunny · 14/07/2009 20:41

lol @ Lemur's wet knickers!

pinkspottywellies · 14/07/2009 21:49

Ooh SB's on at the same time as everyone else

Mushrooms, peach, grapes, satsuma, apple, spring onion, tomato, cuc, lettuce, onion, kiwi. Plenty of variety, not many portions! I was going to run tonight but the heavens opened just before I would've gone so I chickened out!

It's quiet without Franny isn't it [wistful] Where's Guad? Is she away?

chienpointu · 14/07/2009 22:11

my portions are not good. I am meant to be really trying this weeek. I have no discipline and must go and self flagelate (can't spell it)

MayorNaze · 15/07/2009 09:09

rest of yesterday:

cauliflower
spinach
courgettes
blackberries

today:
peach
strawberries
blackbe rries
banana

don't see there being much exercise in the Mayor's house today..could walk to toddlers but it would take an hour, weather looks dodgy and dd is really heavy to push in pushchair now...excuses excuses...

did you know nhs direct tell you to go away if you haven't got swine flu?

apparently anything else is not a medical emergency

thought of the day anyway.

have a good 'un ladies

OsmosisBanana · 15/07/2009 14:54

tomatoes
sugar snap peas
chickpeas
2 x nectarines

super noodles

6 so far. And I shall have to march back up Park St / Whiteladies to pick up The Bean which is quite a stomp so reckon will actually have accomplished something in the region of 10/10 today for the first time in months.

TF - yus, I have been watching what is known colloquially as cricket.... muppets. Am hopeful tomorrow will be better although given our track record at Lords I ain't holding my breath.

Is Fran on a Getting Things Done mission?

Booked DH birthday pres today, now all I need to do is keep it secret for 2 months. meep! Am not good at such things.

pointydog · 15/07/2009 15:46

All the coinage in dh's bedside table drawer added up to £39.50!

dd1 and I took it all to one of those fabulous machines that add it all up for you. Well worth the commission, an enjoyable evening out.

I had to buy some beer and (young's wild) salmon and the rest is going towards a Harry Potter trip.

moliereroger · 15/07/2009 16:20

oh pointy, we do that fairly regulalry! Sadly, recently it has paid for boring shopping, rtaher than treats but pennies etc reallt do add up!

I have discovered some gorgoeupackets of dried berries in asda of all places. cherries, cranberries, blueberries and strawberries. Nom.
(I have cancelled graze box as was too expensive).

today I have had actual strawberries and blueberries and will be having spicey bean enchilads with salsa and salad for dinner.

moliereroger · 15/07/2009 16:23

oh I need to lose my Bastille day name, don't I

OB whaddya get dh?

pointydog · 15/07/2009 16:27
