For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

nervously???

what have i done??? is it my vast f&v consumption????

pointydog · 02/08/2009 19:26

I am about. Erratic f&v eating in teh hols but doing ok on teh whole. Reducing my gut size.

MayorNaze · 02/08/2009 19:28

it is much more difficult to eat the old f&v when the dcs are home. they scoff all the decent fruit (albeit under protest) grr

SuperBunny · 02/08/2009 19:33

I was nervous because of abit's window smashing. You haven't scared me (yet).

Well done, Pointy. I am, um, much larger than I used to be so must reduce my gut size quite drastically. I just am rubbish at doing it. Maybe when I go back to work, it'll just fall off

MayorNaze · 02/08/2009 19:38

boo!

was that scary??

am joking, how are all your itches SB? i really really want to do more exercise but unfortunately i hate it.

except swimming and that costs loads. grr.

pointydog · 02/08/2009 19:41

I've been going for walks up the woods. Is lovely.

MayorNaze · 02/08/2009 19:44

see walking is how i get my exercise regularly as dd2 is still small enough to chuck in the buggy if i'm going a long way. can't do it with the other 2 around as they moan after 100m or so - i will be size of house by the end of the hols boo hiss.

SuperBunny · 02/08/2009 19:47

Itches much better thanks. Just have random shooting pains across my head and my face looks quite repulsive. DS has looked at me a few times then shielded his eyes and said, "Ugh, I don't want to look at that"

MayorNaze · 02/08/2009 19:49

out of the mouths of little buggersbabes...

{{{}}}

dd2 was 10 months when i started wearing glasses again...she giggled whenever she looked at me for the rest of the day

pinkspottywellies · 02/08/2009 20:30

Walked to shop today and ate some good stuff and lots of birthday cake. Swimming tomorrow.

Bed early tonight. VERY knackered.

FrayedKnot · 02/08/2009 21:09

TooT I love your mane

I seem to be home. A little disorientated by the comings and goings.

And the giant triffid pumpkin plant has itty bitty pumpkins on

Well, actually, one is already the size of a tennis ball

I am always amazed that anything that I plant grows.

SuperBunny · 02/08/2009 21:32

FK, I have missed your pumpkin updates!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 02/08/2009 21:32

Hi everyone

I used to love growing pumpkins. Not much effort for a bloody great pumpkin was great when I was wee

We went out for lunch and stopped at a lovely pub, but for some reason everyone there was REALLY old. I think we lowered the average age by decades. The food was nice though.

banana
salad leaves
carrots
tomatoes
olives
chick peas
humous
cucumber
dried fruit

Is Guad moving at the mo?

I haven't seen 100x for ages. Someone needs to invent a problem so we can lure Anne back

I miss Franny too.

Infact I miss lots of people on here.

COME BACK EVERYONE.

MayorNaze · 02/08/2009 21:36

my pumpkins are not growing into pumpkins.

please do not tell me i need to venture into the joyful world of pumpkin sex...

i am hungry at all of you who have food.

FrayedKnot · 02/08/2009 22:10

Yes, yes, come back everyone!

I will start bootcamp tomorrow, will that lure them, do you think?

I didn;t do the pumpkin sex in the end!

They did it all by themselves, with the help of some bees and things

MayorNaze · 02/08/2009 22:12

well if i don't look at them for a while, perhaps my pumpkins will overcome their obvious coyness and "do it."

TigerFeet · 02/08/2009 22:13

I have a pumpkin too

I don't think it's as big as yours yet FK. Shall we have a pumpkin competition? There are still loads of flowers on the plant, I may wait for one or two more pumpkins to establish and then remove the rest of the flowers.

Tomatoes are starting to ripen too

TigerFeet · 02/08/2009 22:18

MAyor perhaps you could try reverse psychology with the pumpkin plant. Treat it like a teenager. Tell it expressly tha tyou don't want it to have sex and it will promptly go out and get pissed, take drugs and get laid.

TooTicky · 02/08/2009 22:19

I am growing pumpkins and squash, but I can't remember which are which. One type is fruiting (at least one bigger than tennis ball) and the other type is just intent on claiming more land.

Blueberries.
Tomato/courgette/onion/garlic in pasta sauce.
Raisins.
Apple from garden.

MayorNaze · 02/08/2009 22:25

hmm i will go out and lecture them tomorrow. perhaps if i tuck some condoms under the leaves they will get the hint. or maybe i could compost some sexual health leaflets?

takes companion planting to a whole new level really...
