For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Actually, do you mind if I get that deleted? There is a reason

pointydog · 25/07/2009 20:52

no, not at all - I won't tell

TooTicky · 25/07/2009 20:56

think most people know but it isbetter for me if it isknown covertly

TigerFeet · 25/07/2009 21:00

Hey TooT, good to see you back

LR, that's so sad. Poor family

DH went to audit an organic farm a few days ago and came back with a veg box. I've been trying and failing to be creative with the contents... I've boiled some beetroot this evening - what shall I do with it?? THere are some broad beans in there which I loathe but dh reckons that broad bean risotto is nice so I'll make that and give them one last chance... if I chuck enough parmesan and white wine in then it'll taste fine . This is why I don't bother with veg boxes, aside from the fact that dh gets freebies from work, I never know what to do with the contents [uninspired]

Feeling a bit better today, but still sniffing and spluttering a bit. I asked a pharmacist if up-the-duffers are allowed to snort Olbas Oil and he strongly advised me to ring the Swine Flu helpline. I have a cold ffs, I feel a bit rough but flu it aint.

TooTicky · 25/07/2009 21:05

Oh I'm sure olbas oil is fine. I mean, I'm sure I have used it when pg.

Oh, and you can make a sort of hummous with broad beans which isnice. And green.

pointydog · 25/07/2009 21:06

beetroot must be pickled, no?

Erm, beetroot and goat's cheese and a drizzly dressing?

TooTicky · 25/07/2009 21:12

Beetroot is nice diced in salads with potato and avocado.
Or you can make borshch.

pointydog · 25/07/2009 21:13

yes, I love beetroot in any type of salad

TigerFeet · 25/07/2009 21:17

Got some Olbas Oil. Have snorted.

Borchct a good idea. Hmm, it goes well with avo does it? There are two avocadoes in the box, and I am not much of an avocado fan either. I'm more of a cabbage/cauli/broc sorta gal, dull as that may be.

There were also some lovely swishy carrots with huge green bits on the top. I am not going to eat them, they are too pretty.

We have shedloads of pickled beetroot in the cupboard pointy, but I was told that I can't count it as f&v

pointydog · 25/07/2009 21:19

I have been counting pickled beetroot as f&v for months. It's a vegetable - why can't it count?

pointydog · 25/07/2009 21:19

again. That's how shocked I am

Someone's being a slippery customer

TigerFeet · 25/07/2009 21:28

All the life has been pickled out of it.

100 and Franny said so, so it must be true

I count them too

TooTicky · 25/07/2009 21:43

I am going to be a step-grandmother

TigerFeet · 25/07/2009 21:43

You'll be needing a blue rinse then

And a tartan rug.

Congratulations

DH and I are sitting at opposite ends of the sofa with our respective laptops

Shall I email him to ask for a cup of tea?

TooTicky · 25/07/2009 21:51

yes

TigerFeet · 25/07/2009 21:55

Done
Let's see if he ignores me

Right, one badly photographed Pointy pic on profile.

TigerFeet · 25/07/2009 22:40

Loving Sir Pointydog

I must have looked pissed off. I just had the offer of a cuppa

Am off to bed now. I am a thorough lightweight.
