For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

OneLonelySock · 25/07/2009 10:37

How on earth can you manage 10!!

I was lurking around watching your thread yesterday, and was motivated to give this health stuff a try..
I managed a handful of grapes.

And four seaside mini donuts to celebrate.
(I'm guessing the jam in the middle doesn't count.)

mollyroger · 25/07/2009 11:58

hi onelonelysock - I tend to find fruity breakfast helps
eg raspbs, melon, strawberries. is 3.

lunctime could be a veg soup (2) with a glass of fruit juice.(1)

snack could be dried fruit or crudites and ghummous. (1 or 2)
dinner could be easily have 2/3 veg...

I don't always manage it but I always manage more than 5 and that's good....

ABitWrong · 25/07/2009 13:22

Hello Sock. What sort of sock are you? Stripey? Fluffy? Hand-knitted? Hemp fibre?
We need to know these things.

ABitWrong · 25/07/2009 13:44

My ds1 replied to a freecycle notice yesterday....

"we would rarther like to receive the portable TV (we are a travelling family) and the freeview box (we do not have digital)

best regards"

OneLonelySock · 25/07/2009 13:44

Normally found down the back of sofa's, occasionally Holey, and always completely unfamiliar so I can never work out where I came from.

hi sock. Just start off aiming for 5 or 6. The whole point of aiming for 10 is that we never get to leave these threads.

wrong - post you rpicture, go on, go on. I'm intrigued.

pointydog · 25/07/2009 20:03

orange juice
sultanans
2 bits of banana bread (hmm, 0.4 I suppose)
olives
vegetable lasagne - a good 2

5.4

Now I must resist tonight's sweet toffee popcorn. Damn those children

pointydog · 25/07/2009 20:05

re the nakd bars. I recent;y compalined on here about the cost of them. Well, I went to sainsbury's the other week to buy more fruitus bars for another gay packed lunch for dd1, and the price of fruitus bars had lept to £2.20! Nearly the same as nakd! Maybe they were priced wrongly the first time, I don't know.

TooTicky · 25/07/2009 20:41

Pointy, I will see what I can do but you mustn't expect anything wonderful!!
