For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Or this one

Jamaican beans
225g dried black beans, soaked overnight, drained and rinsed.
1 bay leaf
Olive oil
Onion, finely chopped.
2 garlic cloves, crushed
1 teaspoon mustard
1 tablespoon black treacle
Small bunch thyme, finely chopped.
Small red chilli, deseeded and chopped
400ml veg stock
Red and yellow peppers, sliced
1kg butternut squash, chopped.

Boil beans and bay leaf rapidly for 10 mins, removing scum from surface.
Reduce heat and simmer whilst covered for 30 mins, drain and set aside.
Fry onion and garlic until softened.
Add all other ingredients and give good stir.
Cover, bring to boil, then uncover and simmer for 45 mins (until squash is tender and sauce is thick and yummy).

Suitable for freezing.

But is slightly spicier.

Pink I have texted you. I just hope you pick it up before you set off.

I'd love to go to a festival but dh couldn't be less interested. I've never managed to persuade him that camping might be fun.

Hope you feel better soon Tiger, shame about the meet up.

I'm giving your hand a squeeze Toot xxx

pointydog · 24/07/2009 09:17

To eat lots of it and stop eating lots and lots of other stuff. I like to keep it simple.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 24/07/2009 09:30

Simple is good!

I seem to have conquered by carb and choc addiction this week.

Oooh, just had a thought. Maybe my period is about to return? I've also had spots which I don't tend to really suffer with.

ABitWrong · 24/07/2009 10:24

Thanks all.

Melon.

Pointy, I have the urge to sit down and draw you on your mission, but I should be tidying and stuff really [torn]

FrayedKnot · 24/07/2009 11:34

TheMitsubishiWarrioress · 24/07/2009 13:31

Hello!!!

I have slight 'going away' envy...but hope all have lovely times.

I have cleaned my bathroom, which at the moment, I am extaraordinarily pleased about.

TF...., hope you are OK soon.

ABit...((((())))), sorry, i am about as much use as a chocolate kettle at the moment but strong vibes and keep on keeping on...

pointydog · 24/07/2009 13:40

bitwrong - to draw me? Is that what you meant? Did you mean join me?

My f&v intake has been poor so far but that's because I am not eating much, seeing as how I am a bloater just now:

pickled beetroot

Get better soon, ill ones
