For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I think you are only contagious when you are feeling/showing symptoms. Well that's what I read at the weekend, it's probably changed by now though.

Glad to hear you dd is better Toot.

Lol at the remote control in the pram. Although I'm guessing you weren't laughing about it LR?!

I really need to sort my shit out. My f&v intake has been dire and my consumption of dirty white carbs has rocketed. I often go without bread for days on end, then in the past week or so I have been STUFFING it in. It doesn't help that dh bought a chuffing great loaf of tiger bread and I could smell it everytime I walked into the kitchen.

SuperBunny · 21/07/2009 19:31

My sister has been sent home from work with suspected Swine Flu. I think everyone has it.

We had a friend over to play this afternoon which was nice. I made chocolate muffins and we drank tea all afternoon.

Hello BBBeee

SuperBunny · 21/07/2009 21:37

I have a very swollen gland on one side of my neck, a snotty nose and a great big huge fuck off blister across the bridge of my nose

SuperBunny · 21/07/2009 21:41

And Toothache.

And I need a biopsy on my hand, apparently. I declined politely, claiming that it really isn't that bad and I legged it from the Dr's. I forgot to mention the inexplicable blister on my nose and the dr was too polite to mention it, although he did look at me and say ', any other medical problems you want to discuss?' and stared at my bright red honker in disbelief when I said, "No, no, I'm fine thanks"

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 22/07/2009 13:10

Blimey bunny, are you run down? What's wrong with your hand?

How's your sister? Is it SF?

SuperBunny · 22/07/2009 18:57

Sister is ok but spent the whole day in bed which I have never known her do. Dr didn't seem bothered about whether or not it was SF and got rid of her asap.

My minor complaints have changed and I am miserable. But still happy to be home.

Where is everybody?

Hello, how is everybody? Poor Bee with swineflu - how are you feeling? I don't think it's reached these parts yet.

I drove MILES today and it was good, to a dogs home, as my brother wants a dog. We fell in love with one called Wilson but he wasn't suitable. And dds fell in love with some elderly chihuahua brothers with names that made them sound like corner boys.

I've been preoccupied with sorting out art for a playscheme next week for 100 children - will be relieved when it's all done.

My hair is still short.

That is my news.

Should I add some stuff about fruit and vegetables? Ate home grown chard and beans and stuff etc.

ABW, just posting quickly - I think you have done the right thing and, in time, the DC will know that too. You all deserve better than you have had - you are all entitled to peaceful lives. It is not fair for you to have to be unhappy. Don't doubt yourself.

Ninjacat · 22/07/2009 22:42

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 23/07/2009 13:56

I haven't heard of WOMAD. I have never been to a festival, but I am telling you you will all have a great time

Does anyone have a recipe for a bean stew? Baby Lemur loves chickpeas and kidney beans etc, so I want to make a tasty stew for him.

littlerach · 23/07/2009 16:02

Festival will be fab

Lemur, I had a Moorish Chickpea one that was good.

Moorish chickpeas

-1 large onion, chopped
-2 garlic cloves, crushed
-1 green pepper, deseeded and sliced
-2x 397g/14oz cans chickpeas, drained
-397g/14oz can chopped tomatoes
-salt and freshly ground pepper
-1 tsp. each ground cumin, dried oregano and cayenne pepper
-198g/7oz can sweetcorn, drained

Place all the ingredients , except the sweetcorn, in a large saucepan. Bring to the boil, cover and simmer for 20minutes. Season to taste and stir in the sweetcorn just before serving. Delicious hot or cold, so it says

Freezer friendly
ready in 25 minutes
serves 4

I have it with rice.
