For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

more than one run in fact

mollyroger · 21/07/2009 15:34

it is blardy chilly he. And the Swine flu net is closing in on me - 6 near misses and now our best friend has got ir and we were all crammed into a car with him on Sunday...

do you think I am insane for creating a swine flu box just in case dh and I get it at the same time? With cash so boys can buy sweets pizza lemonade-- food in an emergency?

MayorNaze · 21/07/2009 15:40

well i went for a brisk walk to school and back

and am even colder

thought ds had SF last night - headache and pale, came on v suddenly - paracetamol and a good nights sleep and he is the picture of health again thank goodness!

dh says they are dropping like flies at work though

littlerach · 21/07/2009 16:08

It is cold

Molly, none of us acught it from dd2, if that makes you feel better and i shared a bed with her for a week.

TooT, I had a nectarine when you went (honest!)
I am in still in awe of your hair, it is brilliant.

Will the rain ever stop?

Guadalupe · 21/07/2009 16:18

What a lot of sad faces. Cheer up you lot. You might not get swine flu you know, and even if you do it will soon be christmas.

We are back briefly as dh has do Some Very Important Jobs, or so he says, and it's pouring with rain so we have come too to stock up on sausages and chocolate. Didn't take nearly enough stuff to eat round the fire with wine at night. He already came back yesterday for the pillows. Lucky it's not far though I hope we will stay there till Sunday now.

We picked piles of samphire yesterday and had it with a massive paella. One of our camping friends is a chef which is a bonus.

I must go and check the weather.

mollyroger · 21/07/2009 16:35

I yearn to go to stiffkey and eat samphire! But maybe not in the rain...!

I kind of want to get it over with now, rather thn have it hanging over me for a more inconvenient time. (like, xmas or dsses birthdays)

This week would be good as boys are away....!

Guadalupe · 21/07/2009 16:44

The rain is okay usually, but we have a leak between the van and awning and we need it to stop before sealing it. You don't want rain in the middle of where you walking so it's annoying. The next two days forecast is good though.

The samphire is gorgeous, we had it with loads of lemon and butter.

No fruit yesterday, can you believe it? I had plenty of mago and kiwi this morning while they all stuff more bacon sandwiches ro make up for it. There's only so much pig I can eat.

Guadalupe · 21/07/2009 16:46

Well I won't say I hope you get it, Molly! Not everyone does though do they, even if they have been in direct contact?

Dh took ds1 and dd to a big party in london on Saturday and when they got back I asked ds1 if anyone had been sneezing. He rolled his eyes.

littlerach · 21/07/2009 16:50

Oh and TooT, I found the remote control.

dd2 had hidden it in her dolls pram

mollyroger · 21/07/2009 16:51

I shit you not, bloody dh is now claiming he feels ill. Apparently he ''felt shakey in Asda and a bit sort of harum harum, y'know, throaty''.
(not so ill he can't smoke though )

Guadalupe · 21/07/2009 16:56

Really? Ooh dear, did he remember the medicines?

Guadalupe · 21/07/2009 16:57

lol at harum harum y'know

ABitWrong · 21/07/2009 16:57

but there are lotsof things going aroundatm that aren't swine flu

dd2 has just had a v civilised 4 day hot'n'snotty interlude without fluing

Guadalupe · 21/07/2009 16:58

if you looked on nhs direct they would say it was SW though, you only need to feel tired and have a sore throat.

There could be all sorts of reasons for that.

mollyroger · 21/07/2009 17:03

anyway, don't wish to bore the pants off you all about it.

Trouble is, my evil plans to have a rompathon with him have kind of bitten the dust....(it was the snotty harum harum which killed it, really )

Guadalupe · 21/07/2009 17:04

A rompathon?

Guadalupe · 21/07/2009 17:07

You need sauerkraut. That'll kill it.

FrayedKnot · 21/07/2009 17:35

lol

a rompathon with sauerkraut

the mind boggles

Sorry if he is ill though, Moll, just when you ahve time to yourselves.

The girl at work who had suspected SF is back, although still looking like death

I am wondering what the incubation is? Not many people round here have it yet.

But we've got 2 lots of holiday coming up, so I expect one of us will get somethihng for one of those.

mollyroger · 21/07/2009 17:58

sauerkraut? Really? You are obsessed with vingear-based remedies, aren't you...?

Guadalupe · 21/07/2009 18:03

Yes. Vinegar mends everything. Didn't you read Jack and Jill?

Well, that's what 'they' advised for bird flu anyway. You may as well try it for the swine. I have two fairly sizeable jars. I do actually quite like it though.

Guadalupe · 21/07/2009 18:09

Right, we are off again with our pig and pickles. Do try and be jolly.

Molly - I hope you have a healthy week and, um, get to enjoy the week as you see fit!

Have fun on your holiday too, FK.

mollyroger · 21/07/2009 18:19

gah!! Friend (who we had sunday dinner with and who had our children all saturday) has rung to warn me she is feeling ill. her colleague has been diagnosed sf...

is there anything worse than waiting to feel ill?

ABitWrong · 21/07/2009 18:25

think positive

eat lovely fresh stuff from yourallotment

don't even think about it

Slightly different situation, but my grandmother had her fortune told years ago and was told she would die in 1992.
She spent years just waiting for it to happen....and made it to 2009.
DON'T WASTE TIME WORRYING OVER SOMETHING THAT MIGHT NOT HAPPEN.

Lecture over xx
