For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Aaww Lemur, give his tail a tickle from me. Hope you can catch up a bit though!! Lack of sleep is hard.

SB, that is an impressive list xx

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 19/02/2009 07:47

Morning Toot

I'll be catching up on some z's when he goes for his morning nap. I was lucky that he settled reasonably quickly after he woke up, but the break in sleep is a killer. I'll make sure we go out a lot today to take my mind off feeling tired!

TooTicky · 19/02/2009 07:48

Yes, lots of fresh air. Glad you can catch up a bit.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 19/02/2009 07:51

I'm lucky really. He always has a 2 hour nap in the morning so if I'm feeling a bit beat I can nap then.

Rain here again today. I much preferred it when it was cold but bright.

Hope you have a good day Toot.

AtillaTheHoney · 19/02/2009 07:59

I have haircut , am going when DC's are back at school.

It won't be swishy though!

Working away from home today and anaemia is very bad.
slept for about 6 hours during day yesterday.

My mind is completely vacant..................................................

oh well

.. that is all possibilities covered.

bye for now.....xxx

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 19/02/2009 08:06

I know what you mean about haircut envy, it was the image the word swishy conjured up!

Have you received any official help/medication for your anaemia? Whilst your level may not be extremely low compared to the offical level, I'm a firm believer that what is ok for one person, is low for another - iyswim

My mind is always vacant!

FrannyandZooey · 19/02/2009 09:36

have lovely headache from lack of sleep - sympathies, lemur!
am going to attempt to leave boys at gym creche while i ponce about for half an hour
i suspect this is not going to work but it is worth a try, IMO

am feeling bogged down in everything - house a mess - constant childcare and housework - i know this is nothing new or different to what anyone else has! just gets on top of you sometimes doesn't it

FrannyandZooey · 19/02/2009 09:37

womblingalong · 19/02/2009 11:25

Yup Franny,

I feel your pain, I feel like a tired, too fat run down, drudge at the moment, with too much to do and think about!

I bet getting some time on your own will help you feel a bit more in control. Do the boys like the creche? I am sure they'll love it.

oh no Avi, so the treatment didn't work the other week? I've only had a couple, it must be terrible to have them all the time.

Everything big mess here too, but trying to do some work and ignore it.

TooTicky · 19/02/2009 12:27

Hugs to Avi and Wombling and Boco and Lemur and firm-but-loving backpattings for Franny.

TooTicky · 19/02/2009 12:27

Oh, and hugs for Atilla too!!!!!

TooTicky · 19/02/2009 12:33

Oh Franny, dp has just been invited to Morrissey's CD release party....tonight....in Los Angeles

Boco · 19/02/2009 12:45

I have been thrown into maternal panic. But I should really not even think about it. I started a thread but no one is talking to me. Hospital just called and said that dd may have cystic fibrosis. They mentioned it a few months ago, but i assumed it wasn't. She has to go for testing on Tuesday, and the drs will speak to me straight afterwards. It probably isn't though, is it? I thought it was hereditary. And that we'd have known when she was a baby. I really hope it isn't.

pointydog · 19/02/2009 12:54

oh boco. I do hope there is positive news for you on Tuesdya.

TooTicky · 19/02/2009 13:00

Oh Boco
That is really bad of the hospital - most unprofessional
This is hard but do try not to think about it

FrannyandZooey · 19/02/2009 13:04

oh GOD boco
bloody hell
don't know what else to say

OP posts:
Boco · 19/02/2009 13:10

Why do you think it's unprofessional Toot? I was quite grateful that it was a person rather than a letter, don't see how else they could have said it really. Still, it might not be. And we'll know straight away she said - we'll be there all morning and then meet with a dr. So, at least there wont' be another long wait. It still might not be though. I don't think it is. It won't be.

TooTicky · 19/02/2009 13:18

I think they should have told you in person that it was a possibility. Not on the phone. Yes, better than a letter I suppose.
Let's hope you're right. Mothers often are.

Boco · 19/02/2009 13:28

They did say it was a possibility in person, but I didn't think it could be a very big possibility until now. I have no idea really.

TooTicky · 19/02/2009 13:31

Okay. Just breathe and try not to worry. It may be nothing.

AtillaTheHoney · 19/02/2009 13:53

Lemur, my bloodcount bottomed out at 8 at the last visit to the doctor and they mentioned a blood transfusion if it didn't improve.

I am having tests next week to see if it is improving, but if today is anything to go by........

Oh but Boco...I am so sorry and hope for you they are thinking worst case scenario as a precaution. I know very little about. I bet they are just being very cautious and you are in my thoughts and I am sending positive healing vibes {{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}.

Have been to the hairdresser and she said they can't do what I want. I didn't ask for a hair sculpture of the eiffel tower or anything. just it thinning out and the basis for an asymmetrical cut started....double.

Avi.. for migraine. They can be so disabilitating. But they are one of the things that stopped when I went on iron. although I wasn't aware there was a link. Perhaps you could try a supplement, I am also taking a vitamin supplement on Doc pinks advice.

And yes Franny, it does bloody well get on top of you. It is the build up of little jobs that get me down. Put together they take hours, and you feel like you never get anywhere, and then somebody finds half a dozen more, and the phone rings (again), and someone spills something, or loses something and only YOU can find it,.....oh, was I ranting.

I have 2 sleepovers to tackle this weekend...

Might take up drinking..

Time for some fantasy island day dreaming and will hop over to pit for some debauchery........

womblingalong · 19/02/2009 14:01

Oh Boco,

Hope you are ok, not suprised you are worrying. I hope you have good news tomorrow.

xx

womblingalong · 19/02/2009 14:22

Sorry Boco, I meant Tuesday. I think you are getting some sensible advice on your thread, I hope you feel supported.
