For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Have been out for forty mins this morning, with a few breathers. It was cold and raining slush.

I don't fancy fruit yet, I need warming. Where is the aga with the porridge bubbling on it? I can't find it.

TooTicky · 05/02/2009 08:20

Dd2 is teaching herself to read while I piss about on here. This neglectful parenting is potent stuff.
She has just said, "If I read it this way up it says bear, and if I read it the other way up it says Noddy."
Genius.

TooTicky · 05/02/2009 08:21

Quick Franny, eat fast and you will be ahead. Guad doesn't feel like fruit, she says so.

TooTicky · 05/02/2009 08:23

I have 5 children today, and there is significant snow, so I think that's my exercise taken care of.

lemon and ginger tea

at significant snow. We just have sheet ice, earth as hard as iron, water like a stone and a glowering (but snowless) sky. Pah. DH is driving to Barsnley where dsignificant snow is threatened. I have made him take wellies and shovels and water nd everything.

1 bean, some salad. From last night.

Flaxseeds this morning. Veg soup, apple and grapes and satsuma for lunch. Tomatoes, onion, sweetcorn, chickpeas (whith chorizo and pasta) for dinner.
Hurrah.

mollyroger · 05/02/2009 08:48

Off out into the snow with my Kids...(oh not in work due to snow...roads closed....clinic closed...and Kids school closed...yeah (and I must say am getting all confsed now with 10/10 and the yurtiness...sigh...

Guadalupe · 05/02/2009 10:36

Really well?

Really Well! I must object to your understatement, that is the most fruit and veg I've ever eaten in one day in my whole bleedin life.

I would accept 'outstanding effort', 'extraorinary volumes' or 'spectacular vegging' if you're feeling generous.

I will struggle today. I lay my cards on the table and say

cherries
sultanas
banana
mango.

I am going out for lunch with dh and then to wagamama with a friend before the cinema so not sure how I'll do. Would you go to the Reader or Revolutionary Road?

Guadalupe · 05/02/2009 10:37

Where is Bee deleted again? Mouldie thread?

Revolutionary Road would get my vote, not that I've seen it.

TigerFeet · 05/02/2009 10:53

yesterday:
carrots
vitamin pill

today (projected):
carrots
vitamin pill

Did you all find that you just didn't fancy anything other than carbs during early pg? I can eat small amounts now, but I just don't want to eat f&v. I want to want to eat properly iyswim. I feel undernourished and tired and crap. I just look at an apple and think "yuck".

ahundredtimes · 05/02/2009 11:02

We had snow! Proper snow. We went sledging and met people and lived in a community of people in hats falling off sledges. I have picked up rather a lot of children though.

Why spooky Avi? How exciting. Will email but a bit later, I have to do an hours work or so, quickly, surrounded by damp children.

I have seen both Guad. I wasn't convinced by either, sorry. I think I'd probably recommend you see Revolutionary Road? Maybe? Actually they both have their flaws. Dunno actually. Go see Rachel Getting Married instead.

littlerach · 05/02/2009 11:03

Muesli

strawberry jam

Shepherds pie for lunch and lot so veg.

Brr. Tis chilly. have turfed dh and girls outside

TF, I remember being v fussy with dd2. But after ms passed, I ate an apple and banan every day, as i fekt I should. Prior to that I dtested babanas.
However, you have been quite poorly, so I htink you need ot build back up, IYSWIM? What about mashed potato pie with veg in it? Or fruit crumble?
Then they are stodgy, carb foods, but have the F&V in them?

littlerach · 05/02/2009 11:05

Is rachel Getting Married good?

I think I iwll read Revolutionary Road first - actually i haven't been tot he cinema (excpet HSM 3 ) for many years.

Where is Superbunny? I haven't seen her for a while.
