For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I lived on digestive biscuits, peppermint tea, toast and pasta with grated cheese when I had ms. Fruit and veg held no allure whatsoever.

However once I was over the ms I craved fresh food, so there may be some light at the end of the tunnel TF.

BBBee · 05/02/2009 11:10

oh tiger i remember feeling like that. I had a thing where anything with any strong taste put me off. I know it is not as good for you but I found tinned fruit much more palettable - satsuma segments and the such like. Also pulses and the more carby fruits and vegetables.

Juice was good though - i remember having orange juice and pumpkin seeds for iron (?)

anwya i must do work.

BBBee · 05/02/2009 11:12

guad - they deleted me and then someone asked what i put and i typed it again but reported myself.

they emailed me but not in a cross way more in a jokey way.

Guadalupe · 05/02/2009 11:19

Lol at reporting yourself!

We haven't got Rachel's getting married on at our cinemas? I think I'd rather Revolutionary road too but my friend fancied the other one more. We shall see. As long as I get fizzy cherries.

Guadalupe · 05/02/2009 11:27

OMG - I've just been looking online for farmhouse kitchen tables and nice old ones are £1000's of pounds!!!!!

Bugger.

FairLadyRantALot · 05/02/2009 11:46

TF, with ms I always fancied carbs in pg...especially cake and especially pecan/maple twist....hmmmmmm...

Guad...they want £1000 for a table....no table can be that nice,surely....lol

Well, that was one short snowy outing....my Kids are such wimps...lol...hohum....but it was good exercise...and I am sure I got my 10 minute exercise done with it
Just had a hot chocolate...and I suppose I should really be doing the dreaded housework, as my house looks basically uttterly disgusting...sigh

Guadalupe · 05/02/2009 11:47

Not a £1000, £1000's! They ranged from 2-8.

FairLadyRantALot · 05/02/2009 11:49

Fuck me....are they solid gold or somefink...

Guadalupe · 05/02/2009 11:52

No, just rickety old cherry. You must be able to get them cheaper than that at an auction.

ahundredtimes · 05/02/2009 12:14

Have you got Milk? That's good. I liked Slumdog Millionaire too.

yes, I loved R's getting married. But have read lots of sniffy reviews saying how awful and indulgent the people in the film are. I thought they were meant to be like that, I think it's sort of the point of the film. Anyway, I loved it. Is the best portrait of sibling rivalry I have seen in a long old while, and beautiful performances too.

I haven't eaten ANYTHING yet.
I am going to have tomatoes on a pizza for lunch. And an apple. Two glasses of orange juice.

Guadalupe · 05/02/2009 12:16

Saw slumdog last week. I enjoyed it. No Milk as far as I can see.

I was going to make soup but veg box isn't here yet. I fancy broccoli and stilton.

Guadalupe · 05/02/2009 12:31

Oh good he's here. I can make soup after all, was just about to eat makes piles of toast.

I am baking pink rhubarb too. I love that stuff.

BBBee · 05/02/2009 13:13

do you think this person on this relationship thread is doing something really stupid?

littlerach · 05/02/2009 13:18

BBBee, I oculdn't do it personally.

I remember my parents bought a house that had been owned by a couple doing a v similar thing, only they'd actually divided the whole house and put in a new kitchen ustairs.

They were selling because the husband had found a girlfriend and it wasn't really working out.

pollycazalet · 05/02/2009 13:25

What's all this about a Pollynutjob?

Have spent the last hour trying to track down an Unpleasant Odour and have just discovered the cats have sprayed on DS's football boots. Cheesy feet + cat spray = tempting. In fact not unlike some of thos enew Walkers crisp favours they are advertising for people to vote on - Squirrel crisps anyone?

100 your post about smoking in high heels made me snort dandelion tea onto the keyboard (and hit the cats too but I think that's spray-karma).

yesterday's haul:

berries (forced down, but yay me)
Lentils
Carrots
potatoes
aubergine
tomatoes
fennel
onion
red pepper

= nine! a personal best. (although you lot with your 15 portions have wupped me good)

Sending up a supportive fruity flare to all those feeling a bit fragile/ poorly. am about to enter the PMT zone so I am feeling mostly fat today.

BBee...I don't think it can be good for anyone to do it that way....tbh...but I suppose it depends on personality...but like Avi says, I think things would get to complicated whennew lovers come into the picture...

Polly...lol...nutjob was defintely NOT directed @ you, lol!
yuk about the cat spraying thing...bleurgh

Well...I can add to my list now:
Beans (2 kinds like yesterday) , Chickpeas, Peppers, Tomatos-making up about 3 portions n total
cherries 1 1/2 portions

so, with the earlier f& v 7 so far...not bad going really....

Well, Kids and I will do some baking in a moment...not sure what I have got in the house, lol...but I will be able to make something...I am sure..
Oh polly's cat incidence just reminded me...blardy cat slept on my Uniform, but must have had some poop stuck to her, as there was some on my Uniform...barf....might aswell that I didn't have to go to work then, lol...

Boco · 05/02/2009 14:29

Bbbee i don't think it's stupid, if you're constrained by other practical options like finances - then short term maybe it could work, but i can't see how it would be good for anyone long term.

Have been to friends for lunch and had
vegetable soup
tomatoes
cucumber

already had
blueberries

Boco · 05/02/2009 14:31

Oh, and a whole packet of those quorn scotch eggs - they're so good, but i over did it, I was cursing veggers and their 'unnecessary protein' line as i waddled home.

agree short term might be viable, but sharing a living space with anyone requires some teamwork and civility and co-operation. Will all that be possible?

Guadalupe · 05/02/2009 14:59

I think people often end up doing it to some extent without conciously deciding that's how it wil be. A lot of people sleep seperately and end up living seperate lives without it being labelled as 'separated' iswim.

I don't suppose it's ideal but could serve as a temporary measure?

When I looked in a junk/shabby furniture shop yesterday there was a blue wooden french cupboard and inside on a red cushion was a material spotty sausage dog with three little spotty puppies. I keep thinking about them. I really want them. I have no idea why, I am not particularly a dog lover and am certainly not a soft toy person but for some reason I need to have them on a dressing table that I haven't found yet in the house that I haven't moved into. I am hoping the urge will pass.

Guadalupe · 05/02/2009 15:02

Just in case you think they are big like draught excluders, they are not, they are really small, the dog is about six inches long and the puupies are only an inch or so.

God, I am annoying myself.

TooTicky · 05/02/2009 15:22

Are you going to get them? Or at least photograph them so we can see?

AtillaTheHoney · 05/02/2009 15:36

this stuff is good Guad

Re the other post, it depends on the individuals. If you have both got the DC's best interests at heart it is workable but not ideal, I did have a friend that did it until they could afford to split.

Err...
another pear...they are nice in my mouth, which is a little better.
tomatoes,
sultanas.
