The Lychee Lads - 10 / 10 thread

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Another apple. Do I have to go on the other other thread to say how cross I am at falling asleep with the children?

It's only three words. Ooooooh, am I cross. Four.

stuffitllama · 04/02/2009 17:41

oh sod - OB fantastic energy, well done, great career planning x

Guadalupe · 04/02/2009 17:44

I don't think so stuffit! There is plenty of scope for chat, just occasionly everyone gets so chatty we forget this is meant to be helping our health.

It's just the pit really, with knobs on.

stuffitllama · 04/02/2009 17:46

oh right -- bonus as my son would say
pleased with the bootcamp but discombobulated by the other

mollyroger · 04/02/2009 17:47

DH has done it again. His night to cook and he goes and buys readymeal style enchiladas. I wouldn't mind, but we have the fricking ingredieints to make them at home - and much nicer...[hmmm]

There may be one bean in them...And some crappy side salad.

TooTicky · 04/02/2009 17:48

Guad, go and show your face on the other thread. I promise not to hug you

Guadalupe · 04/02/2009 17:49

lol at one bean

I have just made dcs sprats and cous cous and now I have to make rissotto for me and dh. Thing is with rissotto, you need wine, which means wine will be open and it's midweek!

TooTicky · 04/02/2009 17:50

Stuffit, pop into the other thread for dis-discombobulation...it's quite painless...

TooTicky · 04/02/2009 17:54

On reflection, it may be simpler to start afres and recombobulate you.

TooTicky · 04/02/2009 17:56

Oh arse, I was forgetting...
an apple
a ring of pineapple

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 04/02/2009 18:14

banana
oj
apple
cucumber
carrot
celery
humous
asparagus
dried fruit in malt loaf
smoothie

Went for a long walk. I set quite a pace and got hot, red cheeked, and just a little sweaty!

Who can come up with ideas for adding protein into my lunch? At the moment I tend to have raw veg, dip and a pitta or bagel. I like it but by early evening I am hungry.

I eat meat and most other things, but don't have time to cook at lunchtime. I was thinking of swapping the bagel/pitta for something like a scotch egg. Or is that really pointless?

Answers/ideas please

Oh, and if I'm going to have bread. What kind is the best nutritionally? I've heard granary is better than wholemeal, is that correct? I've got a breadmaker so can make most kinds of bread.

FairLadyRantALot · 04/02/2009 18:16

well...just had homemade spag bol...sauce included (other than minced beef) Tomatoes, Peppers, Mushrooms, spring onions, onion (twas one mahussive one ya know, so it's gotta count something) and aubergine...

I would say I had at least 3 portions of veg with it...so whoopie...so far am standing at 8...not bad going considering I only started eating at lunchtime

FrannyandZooey · 04/02/2009 18:17

hello, i think there may be some confusion
toot's thread is a separate entity and a very nice one too
it isn't like "this is 10/10 thread just for listing, and toot's thread is 10/10 thread for chatting"
this is 10/10 as it has always been, and toot's is a new thread in itself, with different aims etc

sorry to be bossy
i know the new thread isn't mine
but it isn't a part of 10/10, is it, toot? it;s something NEW and marvellous and yurty
