Anyone else got this Virus - ongoing Nausea - I have had it for 4 weeks

Just been to the doctor. I have had Nausea now for 4 weeks. The doctor says it is a virus and I should be OK soon. He said that unlike the Norovirus this one can linger for a while. Was wondering if anyone else had anything similar and if so how long did it last. One good thing I suppose I didn't put on any weight over Christmas!!, but I would just love to feel healthy again.

update: I went to a&e and my bloods are clear but found urine infection. Not sure the urine infection is responsible for everything but I supppse it couldn't help. If my bloods are clear then its unlikely to be anything sinister is it? thank you :)

Oldmum55 · 04/12/2018 11:39

Hi Raclark! Guess you found the root of your problem with the urine infection which I guess would explain why you have been feeling so poorly. And if the bloods are clear that exclude any other nasties. That what they told me when I went back again and again with various symptoms. Try to forget all about it that's what I'm doing. Smile

CornishSummer · 10/12/2018 20:25

Glad you’re feeling better @jen1320. Touch wood I’m feeling ok. Working and going to the gym as normal. What a bloody weird virus though, freaked out didn’t even sum it up. Just praying and got everything crossed that it continues.

Pheebie · 13/12/2018 01:07

@Concepta I’ve just found this after posting a new topic! I think I might have this, I also have terrible anxiety in regard to passing illnesses to people. Have you managed to pass this to family members? I don’t want anyone catching it.

Oldmum55 · 13/12/2018 09:13

Hi girls! Still can't believe this 'virus' has finally gone, I can get a good night sleep and I'm back to feeling my usual self. Hope it's the same for all of you and any new sufferer can be reassured by reading our posts. Smile

Jen1320 · 15/12/2018 18:02

Hi oldmum I still have the nausea mildly it went and has came back a bit , how long did it take for yours to finally go all symptoms xx

Oldmum55 · 15/12/2018 19:26

Hi Jen it was a good 8 weeks + before all symptoms went and didn't come back. Relieved to feel like my old self again. Not sure what this was all about, same virus coming back or new one? Never had anything like this before. Hope you are or will soon be back to normal.Flowers

Hello everyone. What a relief to find this thread. I've been having exactly the same symptoms for about 5 days now. Totally wiped out.Rang the Dr surgery this morning and waiting for a call back. Don't now how many of you have coped with this for weeks. I've never experienced anything like this, Not even whilst pregnant. Glad to hear alot of you are on the mend

SBMul88 · 19/12/2018 14:22

Hi everyone, This thread has been a lifesaver to me over the last 4 weeks - without doubt the same virus that you have all been suffering from. I have never been as ill in my life. Thankfully I am getting there now with just the odd waves of nausea still hanging around but that’s after a full 4 weeks. Blood tests, A&E and back and forward to the doctor. It’s a real nasty one!!! Just wanted to say thank you to everyone for posting as it really helped me, I thought I was the only person with it. Keep well everyone

OnAScaleOf1to10ItsA7 · 20/12/2018 20:31

I think I have this too. I’m on day 5 so it sounds like I have another month of it to go?

I’m so gutted about Christmas. I have lots of plans to be out and about with family and if I don’t get better soon I won’t be able to do any of them. I feel dreadful. Zero appetite, diarrhoea every day, stomach cramps, chills, shivers, can’t stay awake for very long. I broke down and cried today. I’ve never been this ill for this long.

Mummarob · 20/12/2018 20:50

Bless you OnAScaleOf1to10ItsA7. I eventually went to the Drs. Got told it was gastric acid reflux. Got some tablets that I started this morning and what a difference already. Ive been able to eat something today.I was dreading Christmas feeling the way i was.

Jessicamills22 · 28/12/2018 10:11

I'm very happy to find this thread! I've had terrible nausea for nearly 4 weeks now on and off and a constant lump in my throat. I went to the doctors yesterday as it's really started to get me down and I'm having my bloods done next week. I haven't actually been sick but have had times where I can barely move due to the nausea. With two young kids and being an aerobics instructor I have really struggled and Christmas has been a bit if a washout.
Like some others have mentioned there have been better days and then the following day has been horrendous. The doctor didn't seem to think it could be a virus as it's been so long. I'm going to get some probiotics today and see if that helps. I've tried gaviscon dual action but that doesn't help.
Anyway, thank you to you all for writing this thread and keeping us updated on coming out the other end so it gives us hope.

lauray1910 · 28/12/2018 22:12

Hi is anyone still here I've had very similar thing but haven't had the nausea maybe once or twice over about 8 weeks my pain part was upper right abdomen pain comes and goes bloods all fine they were thinking gall stones got scan next month some days im fine others i feel like crap achy ribs back etc really getting me down er gave me stuff for acid reflux docs gave me antibiotics maybe infection from gall stones i have no idea

SBMul88 · 29/12/2018 07:46

Hi, I am still recovering from this nasty virus 6 wks later!!! I am a great deal better but still feel nauseaous at times but the peppermint tea helps. I didn’t really have any pain just maybe the odd pain at top of my stomach - was more just rumbles but the anti acid helps that. Do feel terrified that this will return after having some good days then back to bad days but hopefully over the worst now. Feel like it’s left me with a bit of anxiety, maybe just worrying about it. Did anyone else feel like this?? Hope others are on the mend now.

lauray1910 · 29/12/2018 10:58

I haven't had any symptoms since boxing day I've now finished my antibiotics so will wait and see I'm hoping it's not gall stones and just a virus I've also had loads of anxiety thinking the worst and back and to to docs and hospital

Mummarob · 29/12/2018 11:30

I've been ok since starting my tablets for acid reflux. Had a bit of nausea yesturday but I think that's alot to do with over eating. Got Drs in the new year to see if i need to stay on the tablets permanently. Wish everyone good health for the new year.

lauray1910 · 29/12/2018 21:35

How you feeling now ?

lauray1910 · 29/12/2018 21:43

Did anyone have right upper abdomen pain with this virus ?

Mummarob · 29/12/2018 22:27

So far I'm feeling ok. I had bad upper abdominal pain but Drs says that is was from the acid travelling. It was very painful tho. I never knew acid could cause so much pain. Lauray1910 are you still getting this pain??

lauray1910 · 29/12/2018 23:03

I haven't had it bad for over a week now just a little on xmas night but been to a and e over a week ago with it just really bad stabbing pain so they think gallstones but I've read people get loads more symptoms with gall stones so I don't no if its that or acid reflux i dont get any other symptoms apart from aching ribs sometimes

lauray1910 · 30/12/2018 17:01

Got the niggling pain bk today on right side again

Sarah40two · 30/12/2018 17:40

Hi everyone. I too think I may have this same virus? Had it for nearly 7 weeks. Nausea, strange feeling in head, and generally feeling rubbish. But it comes and goes. Lauray1910 I have now got pain/ache in my left upper abdomen and also getting same in back, neck and chest Which again comes and goes! It’s scary 😞

lauray1910 · 30/12/2018 17:59

It is scary I'm sat here now feeling really uncomfortable aches in right abdomen and feeling abit sick I've had this on and of for 8 weeks now just wish I new if it was a virus or not have u been to the docs sarah40two

Sophia1984 · 30/12/2018 23:06

I’m so relieved to hear I’m not alone. I’ve been terrified I’m pregnant (despite having a coil fitted and having had a period since I last had sex) because the constant nausea and wooziness and exhaustion feels so much like early pregnancy symptoms. Sorry you’re all going through this.
