Anyone else got this Virus - ongoing Nausea - I have had it for 4 weeks

Just been to the doctor. I have had Nausea now for 4 weeks. The doctor says it is a virus and I should be OK soon. He said that unlike the Norovirus this one can linger for a while. Was wondering if anyone else had anything similar and if so how long did it last. One good thing I suppose I didn't put on any weight over Christmas!!, but I would just love to feel healthy again.

how is everyone feeling? I've had pretty much a nausea free day but plenty of headaches and a bit of breathlessness/funny chest earlier. Maybe this means it could be on the way out? Grin

Jen1320 · 25/11/2018 17:32

Iv been a lot better since Friday , but it’s still there and having to take tablets still, going to attempt work tomorrow:/

LakeFlyPie · 25/11/2018 19:03

I feel like I've had a weird virus over the last couple of weeks, similar to what you all describe but without the chest pain thankfully.
Nausea, fatigue, headaches and general shivers keep coming and going and the last couple of days I've been getting weird episodes of pins and needles over my scalp and on the left side of my face which is a bit unsettling. Am pretty sure it must be linked to these viral type symptoms but may pay a visit to the GP if it doesn't go over the next few days.

Oldmum55 · 25/11/2018 19:08

That'd the idea LakeFlyPie just know that we have all been there and yes it is a weird long lasting/recurring virus but as you say do check with your GP. I keep answering this thread because a few weeks back I was so worried about it myself that if I hadn't found this topic I would have assumed the worst. Flowers

raclark80 · 25/11/2018 19:20

did anyone find the nausea was particularly bad an hour or so after eating or even felt that food may have been sticking in thr thoat or stomach and not settling at times? I almost had a nausea free day yesterday but today has been awful could only manage a couple of bites of dinner then it all got stuck. I keep loosing my head thinking that something must be seriously wrong... thank you so much for taking the time to reassure me

CornishSummer · 25/11/2018 20:46

I’ve had 2 of my better days, I made myself go to the gym this morning and did a HIIT class. I was fine throughout the class thankfully, I think it did me good as my mindset was so much better and positive and I kind of forgot about the nausea. Had a bit of a headachy dizzy moment earlier and feeling quite tired but in comparison to other days alot better.
Just keeping in mind that blood/urine tests are fine and the Dr had no concerns.

raclark80 · 27/11/2018 11:30

how are we feeling? I've still got a very iffy stomach, appetite is gone and getting vague nausea/ gagging feeling in throat :(

CornishSummer · 27/11/2018 14:03

I’m not right today either. So annoying as I was starting to feel better. Nausea, headache, tired for me today. Been gagging too!
Wondering if I should go Drs again but not sure what they’ll suggest as urine & blood are ok 🙁 Hard not to be freaked out as it’s 5 weeks tomorrow I’ve been on and off like this. Christmas is coming and I just want to be well not just for me but for my family too 😩😢

raclark80 · 27/11/2018 14:47

Im right there with you :( ive seen two different docs one prescribed anti sickness meds the other gaviscon... ive not tried ant sickness yet but indegestion meds aren't working. They dont wanna do any bloods or nausea the only way ill get those is if i go a&e and i really dont want to :( im so fed up I have health anxiety and im trying si hard to stay sane but already been googling scary things. I hate this so much, I've had good days too but I dont let myself get too excited that its over yet :(

Oldmum55 · 27/11/2018 16:04

Girls just reminding you we all this and I know it's hard to believe it's nothing else especially when you are going over the 4 weeks period. But if you have seen a doctor and have had blood/urine tests done then it's just a matter of sitting it out. Flowers

raclark80 · 27/11/2018 16:21

thanks oldmum you've been a star I'm such a worrier... the fact my docs don't seem too concerned enough to request bloods should be comfort in itself but think I'm gonna need to insist. cheers :)

CornishSummer · 27/11/2018 17:23

Thank god for you Oldmum55. Such a reasurance having you on here it really is 🌸

Oldmum55 · 27/11/2018 17:53

Girls I was reassured when I found this thread on here so if I can help others all the better! Flowers

raclark80 · 29/11/2018 15:33

how is everyone? the past couple of days I've not had such obvious nausea just a vague kind of fullness in my stomach and rising in my throat... a bit like indigestion? like i feel like if i do a big enough burp it'll go but it never does lol. Did anyone else get anything like this?

Oldmum55 · 29/11/2018 21:22

Hi Raclark yes in the last part of my viral illness I would be full as soon as I eat something and I would have to have indigestion tablets every time even after toast for breakfast! Obviously not normal at all. Then it got a vicious circle as I stressed over it and all those symptoms are also symptoms of anxiety. Eventually it all went and I was back to normal eating/sleeping/bowel patterns!

raclark80 · 29/11/2018 21:56

oldmum thanks for getting back to me and glad to hear it eventually sorted itself out. Funny you should say that cause I had toast this morning that felt like it got stuck in my throat then repeated on me all day... yes I've been sressing over it too as those symptoms will bring up some pretty scary search results but I'm sure now it's just the final phase of this horrible virus so thank you :)

raclark80 · 01/12/2018 21:50

hi... it looks like it's just me who's still in the club :( for the past few days the nausea defo seems to have gotten less intense but has been replaced by horrible indegestion and acid. This has killed my appetite completely, I have to really force down food which just makes me feel worse :( I went and got myself a test kit for h pylori which came back positive, I don't know if anyone has haf an experience with this bacteria? It could explain some symptoms but it increases the risk for some serious disease :( hope everyones feeling better

Oldmum55 · 02/12/2018 00:30

Hi Raclark sorry you are still poorly. I think at this stage you should go back to the GP if not A&E only for your peace of mind if nothing else. When I went back yet again to the doctor with stomach issues, she asked me what I was expecting to find as if it was just me imagining things! But it was a very real stomach problem which thankfully did ease. Do go back and say you did the home test. Hope it will all get sorted soon. Flowers

raclark80 · 02/12/2018 11:47

thank you oldmum i did go to 8-8 they still don't seem concerned and said i would need to retest with them then take a course of antibiotics which will probably make me feel eveb sicker for a while. apparently alot of the population have this bacteria without causing any symptoms so i still dont know if this is just a coincidence and is still viral or if it is the bacteria... its really hard to tell if its getting better or worse because symptoms vary so much from day to day. I went to a gig on Wednesday and stood up the whole time feeling only very occasional mild nasea and then Friday i had a spa day and had a mostly nausea free day... it does tend to be more indigestion and acid and lack of appetite that is bothering me now which I know I have had before when I had extreme anxiety (which I have now) and it sounds similar to what your symptoms where like in the end too. If you don't mind me asking... when you were going through this stage of the virus were you worried at any point about anything really serious? and what was it? I dont know if its just my stupid brain lol. thanks so much for your help!

Oldmum55 · 02/12/2018 12:07

Hi Raclark yes just like you the mind starts playing tricks and you imagine anything from gastritis at best to pancreatic cancer at worst thanks to dr Google. When I went to the GP she didn't seem concerned as I had had blood tests in August for an unrelated matter. She must have thought that I had health anxieties as in that period I made several visits to the surgery. Unfortunately us with this debilitating health anxiety always fear the worst possible outcome. I sympathise with you.Flowers

raclark80 · 02/12/2018 13:17

hi oldmum. Yes pancreatic has been a number 1 fear of mine for a long time... my biggest fear right now is stomach C mainly because symptoms match and one of the risk factors is h pylori :( it is probably just gastritis or a virus though! stomach C rates for people in my age group are incredibly rare... only 10 cases per year in females! but I am still so scared and think what if I'm one of the unlucky ones :( so did you never get a restest on bloods throughout this virus? my last were in july so they aren't kean on redoing mine yet either. thank you so much for yout help.

Oldmum55 · 02/12/2018 13:35

No Raclark was not retested and thankfully the stomach symptoms disappeared but as you know the problem is real enough. Just like you I realise that I'm overreacting especially when fearing something rare in a particular age group. Have you thought about telling the GP you are concerned about possible cancer? Need to be said when the anxiety gets out of hand, no good just mentioning hoping they understand what you are getting at. Of course you might end up with uncomfortable tests but if it puts your mind at rest it would be worth it.

raclark80 · 02/12/2018 14:39

hi oldmum yes I mentioned that i feared SC they just told me it point blank doesn't happen at my age. they did did feel.my tummy though and said all seems well there. I had a scare for about my bowels around this time last year and ended up having a colonoscopy... it was pretty grim and not sure i really needed it but it did put some fears to bed. I actually wouldn't mind an endoscopy but a little scared of what they'll find. thankfully the nausea hasn't been bad at all today but oh my god the stomach acid and heartburn :(

Oldmum55 · 02/12/2018 15:06

Then just wait it out a bit longer then go back and ask for an endoscopy which by then they would probably agree to do. Hope it all will be gone before then.

raclark80 · 02/12/2018 17:42

yes hopefully... I will :) thank you
