Anyone else got this Virus - ongoing Nausea - I have had it for 4 weeks

Just been to the doctor. I have had Nausea now for 4 weeks. The doctor says it is a virus and I should be OK soon. He said that unlike the Norovirus this one can linger for a while. Was wondering if anyone else had anything similar and if so how long did it last. One good thing I suppose I didn't put on any weight over Christmas!!, but I would just love to feel healthy again.

No not had any tests done at all, just felt my stomach and took my temp, and listened to my stomach. Just told me it's a virus and can't give anything. Have heard of others had it too, from caravan site that I go to. I did come down with it after coming home from there last time so thinking I caught it there. Have felt better today so hopeful tomorrow will be better still. Hope you doing ok.

Roselinemac · 21/09/2019 10:04

I started with this on Monday and still feeling awful today. The nausea has settled but I still can't eat much and it seems to be effecting my nervous system as I'm very panicky 😱.

LizandAlfie how are you feeling? Has this left your system now? xx

Lizandalfiedog · 21/09/2019 10:14

Hi not quite there yet, still wake up feeling churny and shaky, yes it does affect your nervous system, think it's the feeling sick does it. Mine gets better through the day and by bedtime am normal again, getting better though, better than this time last week, coming up to end of third week now.

Roselinemac · 21/09/2019 10:37

Ohh I'm so sorry your on your third week of this nasty virus but so glad I found this thread and you've replied.

I started with this on Monday, thought it was a bad migraine even though I'm not a sufferer and then very panicky, anxious with heart beating fast every time I try to relax. Stomach pains but no diarrhoea (yet) and nausea coming and going. Can't eat much and I've already lost 6lb. It's the anxiousness that's getting to me and I don't suffer from anxiety and very shaky 😰😰

Lizandalfiedog · 21/09/2019 11:26

Yes it's the anxiousness that got to me as well, started wondering if it was anxiety and not a bug, but once I heard others were having the same and they did eventually get better, put my mind at ease that it a bug. Wake up every morning hoping and it does seem to be getting a little better each day, just time I guess, I just try to keep busy and I'm trying probiotics too.

Roselinemac · 21/09/2019 13:00

Liz thank you so much for this. I'm feeling better already after your reply. Hopefully this will be helpful to others reading this post. I Thought I was going mad. I'll just ride this out, not helping my dc (5) is also full of a cold so up half the night and will only come to me when he's poorly so I've got that to contend with as well. I'm just going to keep busy which is easier said than done when I'm weak with not eating but can't face anything. Strange how only I have this nasty virus in a house of 4 though but I'm glad no one else has it, I couldn't cope 😰

Lizandalfiedog · 23/09/2019 13:05

Think I'm almost better fingers crossed, hungry for my dinner yay, still a little shaky in morning but that's slowly getting better, about time start of week 4.

Oldmum55 · 23/09/2019 16:46

Can't believe how many people are still experiencing this sort of virus that I had last year! Similar symptoms and because it lasts so long you start to worry whether it is just a virus. But it does eventually go!

chasewil · 24/09/2019 21:01

9wks strong now, i have an allergry test soon..,i dont see the light at the end at the moment , this forum has been my only savior lol

Hilheron · 29/09/2019 11:58

Just found this thread and it sounds like what I’ve had for 8 weeks now. Nausea, aches and pains, headache sometimes and for me, shortness of breath. Started beginning of August with severe symptoms which have improved but plateaued out after about 3/4 weeks. Keep thinking I’m getting better but after a day or two it hits me again. Had all the tests and docs say it’s a virus - or a post viral thing. Encouraged to read on here I’m not alone. Curious whether anyone else is in Ireland as that’s where I am.

Oldmum55 · 29/09/2019 12:42

Believe it or not I feel I have a similar virus to what I had last year but perhaps not as bad. Maybe because last year I didn't have a clue what it was but after all tests came back normal I stopped worrying about it. This time it seems to be stomach involved it's churning even soon after I had food, then indigestion even if I have a light meal and I don't feel 100 %!

Rootie007 · 29/09/2019 19:04

I have been sick for 3 weeks. The most of it feels over the nausea is what is lingering. I have been to the Doc as well they ran all the test and can not find any reason I am still sick. At this point, all I have been doing is praying. I'll also pray for everyone in this group going through this.

Rootie007 · 29/09/2019 19:06

This is exactly how I feel. Shaky in the mornings and nausea. By mid afternoon I almost feel 100% normal until the next morning.

Rootie007 · 01/10/2019 14:52

How is everyone feeling? This is now week 4 for me. I have had bloodwork done. Came back good. CT of my belly came back good. Today I had an ultrasound. I am waiting for results. I've also been referred to a GI doctor. My symptoms are feeling nausea, dry heaving, and shakes. I've lost so much weight. I just want to be able to eat again.

Lizandalfiedog · 01/10/2019 16:45

Thankfully I'm just about over it now, had it for four/five weeks. I started to get better after having a probiotic drink every morning.

justcantthink · 01/10/2019 21:16

I had this for just over a week so I'm not sure if it was the same virus. My symptoms were shaking, palpitations/ heart racing. Very anxious and nausea all day every day, the only thing that worked for me was plenty of water, orange juice, ibruprofen every 5-6 hrs and sickness tablets 3 times a day. I finished it with 2 days of diarrhoea and it finally left me. Still had racing heart for a couple of days but now that's gone and I'm finally back to normal. It was awful and for me the anxiousness with heart racing was the worst. Really hope your all feeling better soon xx

Hi guys my 16 year old daughter seems to have been suffering with the whole nauseated feeling and tiredness for nearly two weeks now. Initially we thought it maybe her pill (gederal) which was casting her symptoms. We have stopped the pills and she seems to be getting worse. We have already had 3 trips to the docs but they seem to be v reluctant to give her any anti sickness meds. She literally can’t stomach anything till at least 2pm -we are all getting worried for her as she has lost so much weight. Got to wait another 2 weeks till they said they would do more bloods! X

chasewil · 07/11/2019 08:50

4months of extreme waves of nausea here.ultrasound,ct scan, mri, scope, nuclear stomach emptying test, blood tests,chiropractor.. nothing.... been told time after time to follow up with my doc, follow up with this doc, refer me to that doc ect ect..been told i could have (but have not been diagnosed because its so hard to diagnose for sure) gastroparisis ,gerd and an unknown virus??

ive gave up hope on practical doctors and have an appointment with a natural doctor and acupuncture doctor,i havent had any of my things like iron, viatamin a,b,c ,d, zinc, ect checked to see if i have any deficiencies... my advice is to ask for ever test, exam they can give right out of the gate, when they test your blood ask them to test it for everything known to man, because if you dont they will only test for certain ones . ask to get tested for h pylori bacteria as well.

-also ive been reading alot about gluten tolerance and it can strike anyone at any age,im starting the diet tmw as one of the main symptoms of gluten toleranance is nausea

Hilheron · 07/11/2019 10:55

Hi all, just an update from me. Really glad to say I’m feeling well again and have been for about two weeks now (it’s 14 weeks since I got that very bad virus - nausea, aches and pains, headaches and shortness of breath). Only thing that’s persisting a little is the shortness of breath some days (sometimes known as air hunger). Really thankful to feel like I can live a normal life again. It took patience (lots), being able to pace myself and rest when I needed, and also minimising stress. Wishing everyone all the best.

chasewil · 07/11/2019 15:15

how long did yours last again helheron exactly ? my phone wont let me scroll back

Hilheron · 07/11/2019 15:19

Chasewil- it took me 12 weeks to feel normal again. It’s 14 weeks now so I feel I can safely put it behind me!

neoh · 09/11/2019 10:35

Hello everybody,

I have had very similar symptoms in the past 4 weeks and yesterday a new doctor finally managed to helped me.

It all started with some kind of a virus - awful nausea, severe weakness (I nearly fainted multiple times), no apetite, weird headaches etc.
After 12 days I finally felt better for 4 or 5 days but then the virus was back and I felt awful again. I kept feeling awful and every day was a little bit different than the other day. Some days I was very weak, some days I had awful nausea.
When I had nausea, usually it was very bad in the morning and many times by the evening I felt almost normal again, only to wake up the next day feeling terrible again.

In the last week, the anxiety that some people here wrote about kicked in. I started feeling often restless, my heart was beating quickly and I couldn't calm down for hours.

I went to the E.R. At first they thought I had gastritis.
All blood checks, stool checks were completely fine.
2 Days later I went to the hospital again and I was lucky to get checked by one of the best doctors they had there.

The doctor told me he is 95% this is just anxiety now.
I told him that I do suffer from anxietey now, but I am completely sure this is not the only thing. He gave me a pill for anxiety (called vaben) and 1 hour later I felt A LOT better. It was like magic really. My apetite came back, I felt physically strong again.

It's important to say here - I have never had ANY anxiety problems. Not even close. I was not worried about anything in life lately except about this 4 week disease that I have been suffering from.
I didn't even feel any anxiety until the 4th week.

I hope this post helps any of you here. My last 4 weeks were so terrible and I really hope I can help others here.

I still feel the anxiety in the past 3 days and it bothers me a lot.
I am simply amazed that I suffer so much from the anxiety now because I have never suffered from stress and I am not stressed about anything in particular now.

Those of you who felt the same thing - did the anxiety stop?
Your answers could really help me out here.

Thanks a lot

neoh · 12/11/2019 12:31

I'll try putting my main conclusion so far in short:
It looks like the 'virus' we are having makes the body feel under 'constant stress'.

All the symptoms we are all feeling are anxiety symptoms (feel free to look it up).

The doctors do all the medical tests they know and when they don't find anything they just assume it's 'a virus' or 'anxiety'.

What do you guys think?

justcantthink · 17/11/2019 21:45

I had this six week ago and now its back worse than ever. Weird symptoms including the weakness as though my brain is struggling to communicate with my arms. Urgh I feel so crap. I can't eat and my head feels as though it will explode. Also got diarrhoea.

Av2mom · 20/11/2019 22:56

I've had this for going on 3 weeks now. I feel fine besides the "bubbly" stomach, horrible nausea , tired. It comes and goes, it's so weird. I can't find any relief. Any suggestions?
