Ding Dong Broccoli on High - 10 / 10 thread

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Can any of you help me make my house smell nicer?

Guadalupe · 13/12/2008 21:35

I can drive but I don't.

I am indifferent to The Smiths.

I voted for three pips.

littlerach · 13/12/2008 21:44

So did I

I prefer Morrsiey much of the time

I can drive but my car rarely works

FrannyandZooey · 13/12/2008 22:44

heresy and rebellion wherever i look

bastards

TooTicky · 13/12/2008 23:03

and I can drive

pinkspottywellies · 13/12/2008 23:36

I like you thenewme welcome. You haven't buckled under the pressure of our newbie questionning.

Franny I love the purse and would also like artichoke hearts for Christmas but had never thought to request them from Santa

I have been Out. To the pub. With grown-ups

DD had 3 accidents, then a wee in the loo, another accident (in her 'party pants' (pull-ups!) which is understandable in the excitement!) and another one in the loo I think this is quite good for the first day and we will persevere tomorrow. She gets a little glass fish to put in a blue sparkly plastic purse when she gets one in the loo!!

pinkspottywellies · 13/12/2008 23:36

Oh and I can drive.

TooTicky · 13/12/2008 23:42

at glass fish!

SmilesLikeNoOther · 14/12/2008 02:32

Helloooooo!!!

Runs into the yurt, starkers, wiggling a running streamlined behind!

Hello thenewme!!! franny is lovely but do join us in the pit occasionally for diet coke bouts of decadence and debauchery (where you will meet pink).

So much to catch up on so I am not going to.

I can't drive...it is better for other road users that I don't.

Can I have the first rant of the new thread? DD is very poorly, had a massive asthma attack. Both DC's very stressed with seasonal stuff and admittedly DS has been 'trying' to say the least, but H has really yelled at us all. Wouldn't let me comfort the children. He will be 'sorry' in the morning but that isn't the point.
I am up watching Mamma-Mia with a very poorly DD.

Anyway, time to be steely.

I know what you mean about bananas SB, I always break them up into pieces if I eat them in public.

See my profile for my music tastes!

Rambling, sorry but it is cathartic under the circumstances.

Hope you had fun pink, I remember going out.

SB, do you know there is a running thread?

...just to cheer myself up.

Saturn74 · 14/12/2008 02:40

Hi Smiles.
I'm sat here with DS2, whose asthma is causing him problems tonight.

You are not alone!

Hope your DD is feeling better soon.
x

SmilesLikeNoOther · 14/12/2008 02:46

Hi, good to have some company..DD gets croup with it, so is barking also, poor love.
Good wishes for your DS also, xx

Saturn74 · 14/12/2008 03:03

Thanks, he's fallen back to sleep, and his wheezing has settled down, so hopefully we've staved off an attack.
I hope you both get some rest.

SmilesLikeNoOther · 14/12/2008 08:54

Massive healing hugs and vibes for DD please.
So poorly in the night I came close to calling for an ambulance as she was too poorly to breathe and have her inhaler. Was sick with coughing and exhaustion. Fell asleep about 7.00am, but awake and coughing and breathless now.

Have watched Mama Mia 3 times-- weak.

Poor Poor baby.

DasherDancerPrancerFMVixen · 14/12/2008 09:28

morning
Broccoli is goood. Though I can never spell it.

I am utterly utterly hoarse after Abba singathon. It was hilarious!
Is basically like competitive ABBA karaoke.
2 of our team are tone deaf but the machine gives you points for loudness and er, keeping the noise going through the duration of notes, as it were so it was very very funny.

That full moon power is awesome - it has brought my period on a week early Which is good, otherwise I might have felt crap next week when DH and I are going out. Together. For a proper early supper, concert and then drinks!

Who let that Humphrey in? Mind you, she does eat fruit and veg. I've seen her do it....

DasherDancerPrancerFMVixen · 14/12/2008 09:29

oh Smiles and hUMPH, just read your posts (having bluterd on)

Hope all wheezers are sleeping peacefully now

ds1 woke me up in the night crying with a headache and stomach ache. But he is bouncing round demanding to make truffles now.

SmilesLikeNoOther · 14/12/2008 09:35

Full moon is making me so fucking horny I am barely able to function as a human being .
You really needed to know that didn't you - rofl.

DD is improving but sounds like an old man.

I am deliriously tired and might ban myself from MN before I make anymore embarrasing confessions.

Glad you had a good time fmv.

FrannyandZooey · 14/12/2008 10:19

sorry to hear of ill children - hope improvements continue mou, and that ds is ok humph

fmf that does sound really funny
i would have loved to do that

nothing much happening here, am ordering new clothes for ds1 (he has grown! again!) and trying to work out how I still have loads of christmas shopping to do when I have been doing it since November

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 14/12/2008 10:23

That was a bit too much TMI this time of the morning, Mou, yes! I'm sorry your dd was ill, and HC too. Are they better this morning?

I was up half the night with ds2 but I don't know what was wrong, he just cried and cried. Think it might have been a stomach ache, seems well enough this morning.

Boco - How is E? Did you have to get her admitted or did the abs work in time?

Guadalupe · 14/12/2008 10:24

I know the feeling, Franny, I inttended to be done by December this year but still I am trawling Amazon and racking my brains for IL's presents. Dcs are all done though.

SmilesLikeNoOther · 14/12/2008 11:13

Sorry! Lolololol.

Sleep deprivation really isn't good for me.

DD is OK, Taking her inhalers a litle better. And they are bickering so I suppose that is a good sign .

I am sort of sorted for Christmas but have a nagging wish that it was just all over.

Boco, still thinking of you, your family and E, especially after last night. Only one night for me, you must be exhausted. And Guad I feel for you too, at least I knew what was up.

{{{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} to all.

FrannyandZooey · 14/12/2008 11:56

smiles, I was doing that fixed grimace, staring awkwardly at a point in middle distance somewhere over your shoulder, and desperatley thinking about whether to comment on the weather, when you shared that

(what is this thing you earthlings call 'horny'? )

SmilesLikeNoOther · 14/12/2008 12:07

It means very busy with housework!!!!

Very seasonal, the weather, for this tiime of year, yes! .

You guys make me Rofl.

TooTicky · 14/12/2008 14:26

Where is Pink? I want her to tell me about her bean chilli.

Hello everybody
I was awake quite a lot in the night with a twingeing wisdom tooth.

Sorry your dd is poorly Smiles, and your ds Humphrey

Boco · 14/12/2008 14:33

Sorry about the sleeplessness and illness everywhere. E still not well - her temp just doesn't stay down, 101 again today and now she's being sick too, not eating, but drinking. Finally got her off to sleep in the middle of the night and a strange cat got in and attacked our cat in our own bedroom, so woke up to blood curdling cat screaming - and then dds screaming.

Dp just did the weekly shop and came home with no fricking food. I'd also asked him to get cheapo xmas wrapping paper and he's come back with birthday paper because it was cheaper fgs fgs fgs.
