Pre-menopause (46)
Been continually bleeding for a month. Went to gp, had ultrasound today and endometrium is 2.8cm which is defo in the oh shit category I think. So I guess hysteroscopy next, do you think they'll do a 2 week referral? I work in the nhs, I didn't think I had cancer now I'm wondering. V unpleasant sensation tbh 😀
Bloody uterus. I've left it alone for years and now it does this.

@Plasmodesmata hmm.. I don't want to be forced to take Mirena and I think I'm going to push for oral or vaginal progesterone.. I was reading the Mirena leaflet thinking, gawd - I don't want to be knowing how to feel the threads and all that stuff... and then at a later date, having more hospital to visits to take it out etc.

@pippapipps I took painkillers for my first hysteroscopy thinking it was going to be slightly crampy like having an HSG but that was a cakewalk compared! Almost passed out. Hysteroscopy left me quite traumatised each time now they have to be done either under heavy sedation or a full GA.

HappyKatieA · 24/06/2023 21:39

How long did it take for everyone's results to come through? Mine will have been two weeks ago on Monday, I keep checking my NHS App, but maybe they won't come through on there? 🤷🏻‍♀️

fuckmyuteruslining · 25/06/2023 13:40

I would expect two weeks plus. I think they will be on the app.

Thank you @fuckmyuteruslining, I hope so, trying to get through on the phone to my gp practice is not something I like to do.

HappyKatieA · 03/07/2023 18:49

@fuckmyuteruslining I've just opened my results, they came by post, all clear!
Wishing you all the very best with yours too!

Finally had my Hysteroscopy today.
was painful but manageable. The camera part was ok, but the biopsy really hurt.
had transaemic acid afterwards as I think there was quite a lot of bleeding.
Now a 4-6 week wait for results. Though he did say my womb looked typical for someone on HRT so I guess that’s reassuring?
Cramping has eased now, I’m just feeling sorry for myself 😊

HappyKatieA · 04/07/2023 22:15

@supercatlady I got my results three weeks to the day, hopefully yours will come through as quickly! 🤞🏽

Bimblesalong · 04/07/2023 22:27

Well done those with recent investigations.
Im waiting on biopsy results after unexpected post meno bleed. Scan showed borderline thickness for hrt and gynae did a biopsy at the appointment (which I wasn’t expecting and got me a bit teary). Glad to get it out of the way tho. It’s been a couple of weeks and I’m still waiting on results.

Spring78Mermaid · 05/07/2023 14:00

Hope you get your results quickly @supercatlady and @Bimblesalong

I’m still struggling to get answers out of gyni, as I continue to bleed & cramp every-time I stop the top up progesterone (I was taking it ok on a 21d on 7off cycle until they said you don’t need it now..) whilst I wait for a fibroid resection. They have now told me to stop taking any HRT and if I get extra symptoms “don’t worry it won’t be long till you op” ffs I clinging onto my job and sanity as it is after waiting nearly a year now to get this diagnosed and treated. If I stop all the HRT top up, I fear I’ll just end up an exhausted, constantly bleeding, nightmare who still has to try & work & parent my kids. Having a wee cry on my lunch break at work.

FelineUK · 05/07/2023 17:38

My GA hysteroscopy is Friday 14th July. I've opted to decline the Mirena coil as I don't want any faffing about up there, rather progesterone some other way.

Sorry to hear the hysteroscopies have been painful for some of you ladies - but brava for going through and coming out the other side.. after a traumatizing procedure I now have them done via a general.. pain in the ass but only way unfortunatley. Want to know what's going on.. gone from 6mm endometrium to 8mm in a year.

fuckmyuteruslining · 05/07/2023 18:09

@Spring78Mermaid that's really hard. I don't think enough attention is paid to his debilitating constant bleeding is. It's a really obvious, messy and uncomfortable manifestation that all is not well. You can never get away from it nor predict when it will get better or worse. It's totally horrible.

Here I've been bleeding for 8 days, much, much better than my last hellish period so the Mirena seems to have had some impact. But I would like it to stop now...
Do realise it could take the coil months to bed in and at least I haven't had the ghastly flooding to contend with so this is progress. Also still waiting on biopsy results here. 3 weeks and counting.

Good you've got a date @FelineUK . Personally my hysteroscopy was a breeze. Couldn't believe it tbh but it's so variable and I think it's really important women can choose. There's no need to be in terrible pain when it can be done under GA. I felt very confident in the staff doing mine that if it was painful they would stop and we would regroup

HappyKatieA · 05/07/2023 19:36

I've been bleeding since the procedure on and off. It's been over three weeks now, I keep thinking it's stopped but then it starts again.
I'm hoping it gets rid of the extra few mm's of lining?! 🤞🏽

Spring78Mermaid · 05/07/2023 20:52

Sorry to hear the bleeding is continuing if you do struggle it maybe worth asking to try Provera progesterone that was what really helped me but I’ve got a defective mirena coil so I wasn’t getting much from that I guess you do need to give the coil time to settle. I’ve had mirena coils for the last 12years and they have normally taken up to 3months to settle then I had a blissful 10years of virtually no bleeding so worth persisting if your young enough to benefit. My teens years to my late 30s were awful for cramps and v.heavy periods. My poor eldest daughter is now starting to struggle too.

Bimblesalong · 08/07/2023 10:36

Phew. All clear letter.
Our nhs are bloody brilliant.

fuckmyuteruslining · 15/07/2023 09:47

Got my letter and all normal! So the stats were right. It is a big relief though. Feel very lucky and grateful.

That’s a big relief for you I hope things settled down soon.

FelineUK · 18/07/2023 19:41

Called gynae department to ask if results of biopsy last Wednesday were back - yes they were.. "But I can't give you the result,." said the secretary, "I'll ask the consultant to send a letter out to your GP. "Is it good or bad?" I asked.. "I can't say, I'm not a clinician." Now I'm bloody worrying.. last year the same biopsy taken was benign.. praying it's the same this time.

Spring78Mermaid · 18/07/2023 20:16

I can see letters to my GP on the hospital nhs App- this is a different App to the one the GP surgery use but it does mean I can see information & test results in real time. Do you have that option for your NHS trust? I didn’t know about it until I started seeing the Gynaecology Dept and there were test results I’d had for something else last year on there too!

Spring78Mermaid · 18/07/2023 20:18

I hope the results are ok, it may be just a delay because the Dr is away on holiday I’ve just had a two week delay because of this.

FelineUK · 18/07/2023 20:28

It seems that the letter for the result hasn't been generated yet.

mumto3boysHE · 18/07/2023 20:39

Hope it's ok to jump on here. I'm on HRT, have been for 5+ years, I'm 56. I've been having some really heavy bleeds, never been one for heavy periods before, hardly had any until menopause. PCOS, infertile, so the bleeds have come as a bit of a shock.
I booked an appointment with GP (4 week wait for a telephone appointment!) They said I needed a scan under the 2ww.
Well, the scan appt happened 6 days later, with a follow up call the next day saying they wanted to do a hysteroscopy. I've 8.3mm lining and a couple of polyps, 0.8cm and 2.4cm.
Hysteroscopy happened 2 days later! This was Sunday, just 2 days ago. Everything really quick, thank goodness. Local anesthetic plus gas and air. Polyps removed, everything "swilled out", mirena fitted. No pain afterwards.
But, doctor said she was worried about what she saw, she thinks pre-cancerous or cancerous. I'll have the results back within a few days 😔

I fucking hate my bits and pieces, never been any good to me. 😢
Just sat waiting to hear...

fuckmyuteruslining · 18/07/2023 23:05

@FelineUK that's standard for the secretary to say that, I work in a hospital, they can't give out results. Not because yours are bad but just because if they get anything wrong it's really serious. Hope they send it soon.
