Pre-menopause (46)
Been continually bleeding for a month. Went to gp, had ultrasound today and endometrium is 2.8cm which is defo in the oh shit category I think. So I guess hysteroscopy next, do you think they'll do a 2 week referral? I work in the nhs, I didn't think I had cancer now I'm wondering. V unpleasant sensation tbh 😀
Bloody uterus. I've left it alone for years and now it does this.

Excellent, glad he's taking you @fuckmyuteruslining.
I've had a little sleep this afternoon, the heat and the procedure knocked it out of me.
I'm due back at work this evening for something I can't get out of, I've been worrying about it and whether I'll be ok, but I think I will.

I had two paracetamol and two ibuprofen about half an hour before I was seen, they've worked well,

When is yours? I can't remember my own name half the time! 😩🤦🏻‍♀️😂

fuckmyuteruslining · 12/06/2023 19:35

It's tomorrow. Just hoping cervix plays nicely 😁 hope you feel ok tonight

Honestly, I felt fine by about 6pm! Just took two more painkillers around 7, then haven't felt anything more.
Remember to take a sanitary pad with you and good luck!

fuckmyuteruslining · 12/06/2023 22:20

Thanks, don't worry. I doubt I'll ever leave the house without a pad again after recent weeks.

HappyKatieA · 12/06/2023 22:39

I'm exactly the same!
A colleague who has had a full hysterectomy said she and her friends, who have had the same, wear white trousers now for the first time in years!
I won't be doing that because they'd look hideous on me, but I understand the sentiment,

fuckmyuteruslining · 13/06/2023 10:28

Well I'm back and it was honestly a breeze. Can't believe how easy it was. She was in the uterus before I knew what was happening. Lining thick as we knew but no visible signs of cancer (my nightmare scenario and I knew it was unlikely but you think these things) and Mirena placed. So will wait for biopsy results and then will see but the procedure was so easy. I'm stunned tbh. Clearly my cervix decided to cut me a break. And I had a nurse practitioner who really knew her shit.

If anybody reads this whilst waiting hysteroscopy IT WILL BE FINE 😀

Excellent news @fuckmyuteruslining, I'm glad it went well for you!
I've had a tiny bit of spotting today, but nothing to write home about.

fuckmyuteruslining · 13/06/2023 17:36

I'm glad I took the day off. Perfectly comfortable but tired!

Spring78Mermaid · 13/06/2023 18:46

Glad it went ok @fuckmyuteruslining and I hope the bleeding settles down soon

HappyKatieA · 15/06/2023 19:22

I've been checking my NHS App, hoping my biopsy outcome would be on there from Monday, probably too soon. @fuckmyuteruslining did they say how long it would be until you find out? I forgot to ask 🤦🏻‍♀️

fuckmyuteruslining · 15/06/2023 20:11

She said three weeks but I know that's allowing wriggle room. I think two weeks fairly standard.

OP posts:
fuckmyuteruslining · 15/06/2023 20:14

You are on a fast track pathway though @HappyKatieA I think? So yours would get done before mine anyway, they always get that path through as quickly as they can because the clock ticks on cancer waiting times. Did your gp ever come back to you to explain?

OP posts:
HappyKatieA · 15/06/2023 20:16

Thank you, yes, I was on fast track!
No, my GP didn't call back, I got fed up of trying, learned more from this post I think.
I've got an appointment soon to talk about my cholesterol 😩, I'll bring it up then.

HappyKatieA · 16/06/2023 17:10

I've just received a letter in the post, asking me back in December for a colcospy? Any idea why? There's no explanation, I haven't had my results, just the letter.
I wasn't worried, now I am a little, but maybe it's just the process? 🤷🏻‍♀️

HappyKatieA · 16/06/2023 17:15

I've just looked it up, it's another biopsy. is this normal?

Spring78Mermaid · 16/06/2023 20:22

My biopsy result took two weeks i hope it’s all ok.
I would phone up to talk to GP re: the colcospy as they obviously want another look to keep an eye on you.
I have found a big dis-joint in comms though between hospital and the GP. You have to be proactive contacting them, a key letter was missed about additional treatment I needed pre-op delaying 3wks of treatment and my op date 😬meanwhile I’m running out of a med and the GP won’t give me more without gynaecology consent and they sent a “non scrip” letter saying to continue with current treatment so GP querying what that actually is!🙄I think they forget theres a human being in the middle of their letters & I have been bleeding nearly constantly for 11 months impacting many parts of my life waiting in limbo ..feeling fed up tonight.

fuckmyuteruslining · 16/06/2023 20:22

Colposcopy is a cervix biopsy. I suspect what you've got there is a cock up. My nice nurse said they would potentially check in six months to make sure everything is thinning and as it should be.bet you're supposed to have another hysteroscopy then. Same clinic and rooms as colposcopy.

HappyKatieA · 16/06/2023 21:46

@Spring78Mermaid thank you, I will contact my GP, unfortunately their lack of communication is woeful recently, whereas they've usually been very good.

@fuckmyuteruslining ah, so it is usual to be called back? Maybe I'm worrying for nothing?!

FelineUK · 21/06/2023 20:47

Hi.. don't mind if I jump on the thread..?

A year ago I had PMB, followed up with hysteroscopy, biopsy and polypectomy. Recently had more PMB a few weeks ago and a little cramping pain so back to the GP. Today had a scan which shows my womb lining to have gone from 6mm to 8mm. Next will be another hysteroscopy etc. etc. This time the consultant discussed having Mirena fitted. She suggested PMB could be due to weight, having had no kids etc., hormonal imbalance. Having had a traumatic hysteroscopy before, I really don't want anything inserted in me and even the next hysteroscopy will have to be under a GA - I simply can't have one with just 'painkillers' as I have such a tight cervix. Anyone tried progesterone pills? Are they as effective as Mirena? I just want as little poked up there as possible so if there are non-internal options then I'd rather go down that road. Using progesterone has your lining decreased?

fuckmyuteruslining · 21/06/2023 21:18

Honestly I would just get the GA and mirena in. You won't feel that and it delivers the progesterone locally which is best plan really. Having had a difficult procedure before nobody is going to argue about it with you and my hospital told me they hold day unit slots so they can get people in asap. I've had a mirena in a week now and so far so very good.

Has anybody here got a tilted back womb?
I have had about 3 hysterscopys done during a gynaecology appointment because of bleeding and thickened lining and am awaiting another one god help me!
My experience each time was horrendous the pain was unbearable I cry so much each time, twice they didn't have enough tissue as having a tilted back womb makes it awkward I believe?
So I then was sent for a general on two occasions, I am wondering if having a tilted back womb is why I feel such pain? Really not looking forward to having another one, I'm 54 my periods stopped 7 years ago nearly.
Haven't read all this thread but I will, I did read somewhere that taking paracetamol before procedure helps? The thing is anytime I've been waiting in gynaecology I wait a very long time and the effects of paracetamol would of probably worn off!!

Hawkins0001 · 21/06/2023 23:26

I don't have any knowledge , but all the best and positivity op

fuckmyuteruslining · 22/06/2023 07:52

Thanks @Hawkins0001 doing ok so far, waiting on histology from the biopsy but spotting is loads better

@pippapipps I'm sure there is somebody on here with that. I took paracetamol and ibuprofen and it was fine but they were running to time and my cervix was very cooperative. Luck of the draw!

OP posts:
Plasmodesmata · 22/06/2023 10:19

Feline - yes I am on progesterone pills as I didn't want a Mirena. It's taken about a year of random bleeding getting steadily lighter, but, I think it's worked - my last period has been light / normal rather than heavy / ridiculous. When I went for hysteroscopy recently (it took them about 9 months to get it organised) the doctor said it looked like the thick lining they saw on the scan last year had thinned.
I didn't want a Mirena because I reckon it wouldn't have been able to hang on in there against the flow iyswim, and due to various stories of how keen they are to put them in you but how reluctant to take them out again if you have a problem.

Spring78Mermaid · 22/06/2023 15:20

@pippapipps i did read on another thread here that you could take progesterone pill by inserting vaginally and it absorbs that way. No experience of it but if you search this section on MN there were few ladies doing this at night, as it was more effective. I’ve had to take oral progesterone to reduce bleeding caused by fibroids as my mirena coil is impacted in a fibroid and not effective whilst I wait a long time for op to remove both. It has reduced bleeding significantly.
