Some say tooth pain is one of the worst pains to have.

What would you say the worst pain is you’ve experienced?

OP posts:

Kidney stones
Hydronephrosis
Tooth infection
Tonsillectomy pain

AntlerRose · 04/10/2022 07:37

Tooth abcess thing
Episiotomy recovery

Nowheretoogo · 04/10/2022 07:38

Ruptured ectopic pregnancy.

Having two wisdom teeth come through and two infected teeth at the same time. I put off going to the dentist for a long time because I was scared. Eventually the pain got so bad I was awake through the night rocking and crying.

Gallstones & childbirth for me.

Seems to be a common trend!
Glad I'm not the only one.

Post operative pain (upper tibial osteotomy and bone graft) once the nerve block had worn off. That was worse than a back-to-back baby and failed epidural (but only just).

Agree with everyone saying gallstones - the first time I had an attack (which drs now think was me passing a small stone) I truly thought I was dying and couldn’t stand or speak. Was literally rolling on the floor in agony. Childbirth a close second but those gallstones..

Brillantine · 04/10/2022 07:43

I think it was a heart attack. The inside of my left arm felt like it was being sliced open with a hot bread knife.
I actually went to the mirror to see if it was all opening up it just hurt so much.
It subsided after about 5 mins and then I had backache and wobbly knees.
Cue 111 call ambulance and MI was confirmed.

Starsnores · 04/10/2022 07:47

Gallstones and then acute pancreatitis caused by said gallstones.

wormshock · 04/10/2022 07:50

Exactly the same, gallstones and acute pancreatitis, followed closed by appendicitis.

columbo83 · 04/10/2022 07:53

Gallstones so glad they took my gallbladder out

zen1 · 04/10/2022 07:53

Kidney stones
Being stitched up after childbirth before anaesthetic had taken
Dental abscess

Dry Socket x 2 (constant until the magic dentist man packed it. I wanted to marry him)
Torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament (first few mins after doing it, then manageable)

Different qualities to the pain but jeez, both were unbelievable.

YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 04/10/2022 07:58

Smashed tibia and fibula, comminuted fracture with complete dislocation of the ankle. Couldn’t be operated on for 5 days because of gross swelling after the dislocation was reduced.
Morphine, codeine and ibuprofen didn’t touch the pain.

CMOTDibbler · 04/10/2022 08:03

Compartment syndrome. I was blacking out and screaming like a feral animal, and had absolutely no way of putting a sentence together.
I then got CRPS in that limb and that was/is horrific - like someone pouring boiling water over you all the time at it's worse and a long term thing. But nothing like the compartment syndrome

Icecolder · 04/10/2022 08:08

Mastitis I think or a particularly horrendous bout of d&v that left me crying on the floor thinking I was going to die.

MrsMitford3 · 04/10/2022 08:09

Dislocated knee-kept passing out from the pain and I am a tough old boot

ThorsBedazzler · 04/10/2022 08:27

Labour with a back to back baby. The feeling of his skull scraping along the base of my spine sent me into a whole new world of pain. Out of body experience pain.

SillyYak · 04/10/2022 08:39

Gallstone-induced Pancreatitis. Giving birth to my two children was a walk in the park by comparison.

GAW19 · 04/10/2022 07:03

I had an inner ear infection, there was no wax or anything in my ear as the infection was behind my ear drum... the pain, well, it was horrendous. It well & truly beat 2 csections Confused

Worst pain ever had 2 children pain didn’t even come close.
Probably too much information mine burst in the end absolutely disgusting but the blessed relief after.

LimpBiskit · 04/10/2022 08:43

I've broken a fair few bones and dislocated my jaw and shoulder. Worst pain by far though has been from teeth. I had a molar that fractured and developed an abscess that made my entire jaw and that side of my face pulsate with pain.

OldWivesTale · 04/10/2022 08:47

The aftermath of having a coil fitted - worse than childbirth.

Acute cystitis.

EmilyEmmabob · 04/10/2022 08:49

Back spasms were awful, followed by tooth infection.

Childbirth was bad but it was controlled pain, I think because I knew it would end it wasn't so bad. Although the internal exam after 12 hours of my back to back baby battering my cervix in the wrong place was agony. That is the worst pain I've ever felt and I passed out.

TheSummerPalace · 04/10/2022 08:51

Breaking my ankle and the first 6 weeks after; getting dressed, walking on it, turning over in my sleep….

I had twins naturally, with just gas and air, as the labour was too fast for anything other pain relief - nothing like the pain of breaking my ankle, despite begging for a Caesarean for twin 2, because I felt too exhausted to push again in the second stage! I’d rather go through labour again, any day to breaking my ankle!

Pugsbladder · 04/10/2022 08:51

Ectopic pregnancy
Childbirth
Tooth Abscess
Gout & having a colonoscopy where the drugs didn't work simultaneously. Felt I'd been violated. Nightmare!
