Some say tooth pain is one of the worst pains to have.

What would you say the worst pain is you’ve experienced?

Having all my wisdom teeth out at once. Literally sat in an armchair watching anything on tv to distract me from the pain, watching the clock until I could take more pain killers. 3 days before it started to feel bearable. The unremitting pain was worse than my three day labour.

@Tilda77 that's good to know! Sometimes wondering if I will ever be able to go to the loo normally again! Light at the end hopefully

@Greydogs123 I had all mine pulled at the same time too and it was AGONY. I lost half a stone in a week because I couldn't eat. About 500x worse than c-section recovery.

Did you feel instant relief afterwards once it had burst? As soon as my eardrum burst the relief from the pressure and pain was instant

Oh yes MayISuggestSomeThickCutStraightChips the pain subsided straight away. It really felt as if my brain (such as it is) was going to explode and the relief was fabulous. Years later dental work was pretty nasty but at least I was numbed for that.

Childbirth of second child and toothache.

@BucketofTeaMassiveCake I'd had tonsillitis about a week before mine happened. We'd gone to My Mum and Dad's for a bbq and my ear started to really hurt whilst we were there. Came home and put a hot water bottle against it which helped slightly and then I put cold gel pack against it and felt it burst. Didn't realise what it actually was and rang the Drs the next day panicking that brain fluid was leaking out my ear. There was one bonus to it though. I temporarily lost my earring in my left ear until it healed so when I was working and my right ear facing the beer and wine chillers it meant I couldn't hear the ex mil rabbiting on at me. Utter bliss

Crystal arthritis in my foot, which feels like gout apparently.

Having nasal packing removed after rhinoplasty. An out of body experience.

@BlackSwan, that's reminded me of when I had vaginal packing removed after a prolapse operation.
It was stuck to the wound, and the nurse pulled it out slooooooowly. It was like unending torture.

I just remembered when a nurse tried to pull out a drain without switching off the suction when I had my gall bladder out many years ago - yikes!

Dental abscess by far was the worst thing I've ever experienced,

The most pain, has to be when I slipped a disc in my back

A really bad migraine - I was vomiting for 4+ hours, food, bile, nothing. Headache was horrendous. Got taken to hospital in the end.

Coil removal (was asleep for original insertion), new one put in. Vomited in car from shock and pain. 5 yrs later, another removal, puked in nurses sink 🤮 needless to say one wasn't put back in and hubby had the snip eventually 🙂 I'd taken painkillers beforehand.

I have given birth vaginally, but never puked once. Even that wasn't as bad as the migraine pain or coil

Yes the eye pain I had after an eye surgery on a Tuesday and an emergency operation in the same eye on the Friday because it had all gone wrong was off the scale.

Dislocated knee.

Pain so awful I kept passing out.

Since posting this:

The birth of my third was by far the worst. Induced labour and haemorrhaging which led to a cat 1 EMCS. I woke up after confused and in pain beyond belief. I have red hair and it’s a known thing that we need more pain relief and anaesthetic.

I have also had two hemiplegic migraines and the pain was so intense. I genuinely thought I was having a stroke the first time it happened as my right hand side went numb.

I posted 4 years ago when I was in the depths of a frozen shoulder, by far the most painful thing I'd experienced (including a slipped disk and 2 instrumental childbirths without epidural and episiotomies).

I'm now on my second frozen shoulder and have sciatica too, there are no drugs that take away the pain, I've not slept properly for months and tramadol/cocodamol/oramorph aren't touching the sides, just making me feel tipsy in a bad way and giving me chronic constipation.

I would go through unmedicated childbirth many times rather than this utterly soul destroying chronic agony with no end in sight.

I’ve experienced birth, kidney stones, gall stones and dry socket after wisdom tooth extraction. All these were really really painful.

The worst by a very very long way is the cluster headaches that I get occasionally. They are like nothing else. The pain is so bad that I’m scared as to what I might do to stop it. If anyone else is struggling with this I can recommend speaking with the Migraine Trust- clusters are not migraines but the charity are very knowledgable and can signpost to help.

I had a tube put in my chest when I had a collapsed lung.

When the anaesthetic wore off, I don't know what happened but the pain slowly built up until it was agony across my chest like the after effect of being hit by a bus, a million nerve endings all switched on.

I was writhing and eventually screamed with pain. The nurses came running back from their break and gave me a load of morphine.

I then ate hospital dinner of bolognaise and threw it up five minutes later. That was a sad day!

I also posted 4 years ago, but to say a slipped disc was by far the must painful thing I had experienced (and I’ve had some nasty accidents, broken bones, and unintentionally unmedicated childbirth, so I felt justified in saying it at the time).

Since then I have had frozen shoulder, and concur that it is now topping the chart for me. And, like you, frozen shoulder with concurrent sciatica is the height of misery.

I still live in fear of dry socket after dental work though.

@Fuuuuuckit have you tried Pilates for the sciatica? Mine went away after I started Pilates (the osteopath sessions hadn't helped at all).
