For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

That is a bit optimistic, the week before Christmas

But I will sign up in January as I have signed up to do the Moonwalk and will need to get fit, get energetic (and shed 4 stone at least too)

So, see you in the New Year

FrannyandZooey · 20/12/2007 08:48

no, no, we aren;t taking any new people in JANUARY

only NOW, you have to sign up NOW and do press ups and stuff

Bocohohoho · 20/12/2007 09:24

I feel SO ill, can i just tell you how ill? All fluey now, and i've lost my voice, and am coughing and my hair hurts, and my teeth and my skin. Somebody needs to come and clean and break up the fight between the dds and finish my lino prints and wrap all the presents and prepare for a party for 35 people on Sunday. Help!

HowTheGibbonStoleChristmas · 20/12/2007 09:29

oh Boco

Is there anyone who can come and help out at all?

Bocohohoho · 20/12/2007 09:30

DDs were supposed to be going to a friends house at ten, so i could go back to bed - but she just called and her dd is being sick.

HowTheGibbonStoleChristmas · 20/12/2007 10:26

Oh no!

I really feel for you

ItCameUponAMidnightClara · 20/12/2007 10:35

How do you manage 10 portions in one day?

I'm not a big fruit lover so sometimes struggle to hit 5 though I do try.

FrannyandZooey · 20/12/2007 11:15

oh my gawd Boco that sounds awful

call in any favours you possibly can, or blackmail people, would that work?

Clara you just eat a heck of a lot of f+v really. Not liking fruit would be a sticking point, I can see that

Oh dear, Boco, right.

2G of vit C, regular hot drinks of blueberry/elderberry/blackcurrant whatever you have, mixed with cider vinegar and echinacea. -soothing and immune boosting

Swallow tiny garlic cloves or if you only have large ones chop them into a spoon of honey, preferably manuka. -zaps viruses internally and cleanses system.

Steep sage or rosemary in hot water with salt and more cider vinegar then gargle throughout the day. -zaps virus in the throat where it multiplies.

REST REST REST - you think you cant as you are too busy but your body is telling you to lie down or you will not be able to taste your turkey.

MrsCarrot · 20/12/2007 11:57

Franny - I think you should have Padini - goats cheese and red pepper sans garlic oil, or giadarniniera sans olive and garlic or Fiorentine sans olives. Plus large side salad all chopped and washed for you. Then chocolate fudge cake.

They must love you in pizza places if you dont like olives/garlic.

Bocohohoho · 20/12/2007 12:04

Ok, i'm going to listen to you. So, cider vinegar - any particular type? Manuka honey - echinacea, will there be anywhere here i could get such things? How much of the vinegar do you have? I have nothing on that list actually. I am drinking hot squash and it's making my lungs itch.

MrsCarrot · 20/12/2007 12:11

I wondered about you drinking hor ornage the other day as it happens. I always drank that as a child and have never come across anyone else who did. Is there not a health food shop in Eye?

MrsCarrot · 20/12/2007 12:12

Hot Orange, blimey my typing is getting dire

MrsCarrot · 20/12/2007 13:50

actually, you did know that orange isnt good for people with skin problems didnt you? Not thats theres much left in squash but I think you should skip it in favour of a more skin friendly fruit.

Bocohohoho · 20/12/2007 14:01

I didn't know that. But I did know that it's generally crap and makes me wheeze. It always did when i was little and loved it too, it's strange, but when i have a cold it's what I crave. I'll think of something else.

I have been to every shop and the only thing on the list i found was acacia honey. I didn't expect to find echinacea but the cider vinegar shouldn't have been so tricky. No health food shop in eye.

MrsCarrot · 20/12/2007 14:02

you're probably craving vit c, did you manage to get some from the chemist?

I could send you a packet but I dont know when it will arrive

Bocohohoho · 20/12/2007 14:06

No, the chemist was shut for lunch. In fact, most of the shops i needed shut for lunch. I might try again this afternoon if i can find some energy. The girls were really difficult in the unchildfriendly deli where they hate children. They were playing boisterous games with a roll of paper and nearly knocked figs all over the floor and i was having a sweat fit so handled it by doing begging.

DingDongMerriLullyOnHigh · 20/12/2007 15:11
