I spy with my 10/10 eye, a snifter of currants in a fat mince pie

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I am eating pie. Nice homemade veg pie with herby tofu in it.

FrannyandZooey · 20/12/2007 22:30

I guess too late to post to you even if we could find one

what is it though? (just out of interest)

TooTickyDoves · 20/12/2007 22:31

Just wait until you have to balance presents for more than one child and make it look FAIR while actually buying things suitable for their ages/personalities.

FrannyandZooey · 20/12/2007 22:32

oh no don't I would be shite at that

the only thing that is slightly tricky is that it's dp's birthday in Jan and I buy all the stuff at the same time

I have the same balancing trick then of making it look like he has the same amount for Christmas and birthday, while also providing a stocking, but not going over budget

I fail

FrannyandZooey · 21/12/2007 08:29

oh dear the shame

from a thread with the OP asking for help about healthy eating

"I tried 10/10 a while ago AQ, and they were all lovely but knew each other so well and were there wasnt really much chat about food."

oh dear

Hmm, shall we have a new year's resolution to try and aim for at least five a day....?

Who ewas it Franny?

I mean, the reason we all know each other so so well is because we all post a lot. Newcomers to the thread need to give us a little bit to work with, so we can include them in our mindless chat conversations about important FandV related issues like zippi's sex life, F&Z's decline of principles and nice skirts and shoes...

FrayedKnot · 21/12/2007 10:14

Oh dear TooT hope you manage to find them. I have jsut realized I have forgotten to get DS a wooden Thomas engine for his stocking to add to his collection. It was requested, but I'm not sure how much he remembers of what he requested, it was a while ago. Oh dear.

DS is very poorly. Was sick with raging temp just as we were going to bed last night. Had to sit with him until his temp went down with some medised which took about 2 hours because the first lot came straight back up. He has slept most of the morning but still has a very high temp

I am trying to do useful stuff.
Have had to swap work hours and go this afternoon instead which will be fun

On 5ish hours sleep

hippipotTEDCHRISTMASTREEami · 21/12/2007 10:15

Press ups?? Franny, really, press ups??

I am a hippo, once I am on the floor there is no such thing as a press up, only a hoist!!

Seriously, am intend on some awful pigging out over Christmas (but will have some carrots and some satsumas and may even force a lonely sprout down) but really really want to joing here in the New Year.
But will start with 5 a day and work my way up!

Press ups....

FrayedKnot · 21/12/2007 10:18

I posted a recipe for pea soup yesterday

Come one and all to the occasionally useful 10/10 thread!

I am going to make this now:

1 grated carrot
2 pre-cooked beetroot
Grated ginger
Apple & mango juice

Whizz in liquidizer until as smooth as you can get it

Drink!

MrsCarrot · 21/12/2007 10:18

come and console me about having a knob of a dh

here

MrsCarrot · 21/12/2007 10:24

actuallly, don't, Im going to forget about it now

yulemoonfiend · 21/12/2007 10:27

Hippo, welcome. We have all apparently slipped a little at the moment so if you join us in the new year you'll probably be as healthy as any of us

In the meantime, try and make sure you are getting some excercise each day (walking counts!) and some fruit and veg - it will help your immune system during a season of excess. Or that'st the theory....we've all been ill recently, it seems, despite our melon-munching!

FK, mmm, have some frozen peas in the freezer, think you may have just provided me with a lunch

Bocohohoho · 21/12/2007 10:35

Shall I tell you about my homeopathicisterator?
It's kind of fairly 10/10 isn't it.

Dp undermined the whole thing by explaining to the dds on the way there that mummy was going to visit a cross between a doctor and a wizard. And that she would give me some stuff like medicine, but with nothing in it.

She was very thorough and the 15 min free chat was an hour. I've got a list of things i'm supposed to buy but my chemist had none of them. Need a probiotic capsule, zinc, some kind of multivit tonic, lavender oil for bathing. I've been given two remedies, one for the rash and one is first aid. She reckons my health has hit rock bottom. It must've looked like that because now i've got a hacking cough and my voice has gone croaky and i'm streaming, and the rash is very raw and there's a bit on my tummy that's infected (sorry tmi). At first she thought it was candida, but then she saw the urticaria bit and now she doesn't know.

God i know i'm so boring waffling on about my health and rashy skin all the time. Sorry you all.

Going to see her on 29th dec for the proper long appointment so will see if these work by then.

yulemoonfiend · 21/12/2007 10:39

oh god, this sounds dire Boco. You poor, poor thing. When are you going to the sun, sun, sun?

hippipotTEDCHRISTMASTREEami · 21/12/2007 10:45

OMG Boco, that sounds awful!
But I did at your dh's explanation to the girls.

Where will you get hold of the rest of the potions?

(and will you need a cauldron?

Seriously, I hope you feel better soon!

MrsCarrot · 21/12/2007 10:59
