For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

clearly, eating plenty of fruit and veg makes you very clever at thinking up thread titles ! genius

ahundredtimes · 12/11/2007 09:56

I love the fact it's me shouting about eating 10 portions of fruit and doing (AT LEAST) 10 minutesof exercise every day.

ha ha ha

Morning
Very excellent title

ahundredtimes · 12/11/2007 09:59

Oh sorry, I was preening at starting a new thread - not claiming rights to this thread title.

Oh no.

This is Boco's.

I did last weeks though - that was good wasn't it?

IntergalacticWalrus · 12/11/2007 09:59

gah! You'd never guess I earn money correcting other people's typos woudl you?

ahundredtimes · 12/11/2007 10:01

No, I wouldn't

Welcome. Of course you can join in. Welcome to the yurt.

Franny has a little speech she gives about eating a lot of fruit at breakfast, and then you'll get the 10 a day that is required. She'll be along in a minute. It's a powerful and motivating speech.

Do you IGW? So do I

(Correct other people's typos that is)

10/10ing though, I don't do too well

Lots and lots of F&V but no exercise atm

Arse is spreading accordingly

TigerFeet · 12/11/2007 10:02

[looks forward to being empowered and motivated]

IntergalacticWalrus · 12/11/2007 10:04

I need to do some damage limitation and get back into doing regular exercise before the festive seadon pounces on me, when my health and general wellbeing suffers a blow due to me eatingh and drinking too much and not moving for 2 weeks.

IntergalacticWalrus · 12/11/2007 10:05

FrannyandZooey · 12/11/2007 10:21

everyone can have the day off as far as I am concerned

FrannyandZooey · 12/11/2007 10:23

it's the jam. The pumpkin jam. I can't think of anything worse

TigerFeet · 12/11/2007 10:24

Given that we are enjoying an early nineties feel to the thread, should we all be partaking of Vitamin E

Ezer Good, Ezer Good, he's Ebeneezer Good

IGW - I do proof reading and legal and technical approval of food labels. Not quite the same thing but still involves shouting "how the fuck does anyone think that is well written" at regular intervals . Lots of fun for a pedant.

ahundredtimes · 12/11/2007 10:25

Oh dear, I just copied. Well if anyone wants a link they'll have to ask and I might fetch it for them.

I have a lot of time on my hands this week it's a strange feeling. I am feeling rather disorientated. I am going to wash that time off my hands and do some baking.

I'm going to make 'power packed oat bars' with cranberries, apricots and pumpkin seeds. And some muffins.

Wish me luck. I'm not a great baker, but I shall feel very 10/10ish and as I'm a Thread Starter this week I think that's fitting.

Franny, come out of the shadows. What's up?

OP posts:
IntergalacticWalrus · 12/11/2007 10:26

Yes! I love that I can indulge in extreme pedantry on a daily basis and get paid for it.

But when I am not working, I type like an imbecile.

frothykindofadrink · 12/11/2007 10:34

oh dear franny are you less than 100% today?

come and join me in the poorly corner

I have some spare comfy socks if you need them

TigerFeet · 12/11/2007 10:37

[cuddles up to capp in the poorly corner]

I am at work this morning but will be going home at lunchtime - the cough that has plagued me for the past three weeks is still not shifting and I am getting lots of unpleasant immunosuppressed type ailments, the biggest pita being fungal skin infections

[waits for capp to sidle away]

So, what should I be eating to boost my candida fighting capabilities?

frothykindofadrink · 12/11/2007 10:40

oooh tiger I am a candida expert I have nearly killed myself over it

get yerself some acidophilus tablets (or any probiotic capsule you need 4 billion live organisms to make it count)

and lots of live natural yogurt to eat

give up eating stuff with yeast in like bread, beer, wine (pah), also stuff like soy sauce and marmite

try to cut down on sugar

frothykindofadrink · 12/11/2007 10:40

tiger I am not appalled by you and your infections

you should see my verruca

Boco · 12/11/2007 10:43

Good morning

I'm very proud of this title, it's making me hammer dance wildly on the spot with my low crotch baggy trousers in purple silk and baseball cap on backwards.

STOP...

Hammer time.
