For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

you know for all your supposed hem-hem vegetable consumption etc, you lot are really just scuttlebuggers on the sly...

VegetatingPossum · 13/11/2007 07:55

Aitch, is that a MNet neologism? I've encountered 'scuttlebutt' before but never 'scuttlebugger' - please enlighten??!!

Avi, DS's skin is no longer bleeding nor infected so things are 'under control' but sadly not yet healed. We persevere.
He is now booked in for a major op on his leg hence I'm not coming to the meet-up. Hopefully will get to meet you another time.

TingTang · 13/11/2007 08:03

< Yes Aitch, but they have clever titles and are generally smarter and wittier and consume bananas and things >

FrannyandZooey · 13/11/2007 09:07

Oh I don't think we ever claimed to be much more than scuttlebuggers really

that is why I told them to ignore cod when she kicks off, she does it to us as well and we just turn our backs and look at our lovely titles

we are normally a teeny bit more vegetable based I think - I have not been around with the whip

have eaten some stuff. sorry to hear about meet up worries. TooT I am sure Greeny would go halves with you on the room if it would be of use to you?

lionheart · 13/11/2007 09:17

Morning everyone.

I have had satsumas by the barrow load.

Tatties · 13/11/2007 09:21

Yesterday I did well fruit & veg wise, and I went for a swim

frothykindofadrink · 13/11/2007 09:38

well this morning I am on fine form

I have taken out the bins!

my god it was the most I have done in weeks

obviously I have come straight back to bed

MrsCarrot · 13/11/2007 09:38

Morning - I am on very pooor rations of fruit and veg indeed. I think this is the residues of our French buffet eating where a green bean swam in oil with a pine nut hat and a fan of glazed kiwi decorated the edge of a chocolate torte. 0.1 of a portion at best.

Today I will do better though I have not eaten any yet. It's much harder without piles of plums and peaches and berries sitting in the bowl. There's something austere about an apple especially when it's cold.

Tatties · 13/11/2007 09:45

I know what you mean MrsC, I am not inspired by fruit atm at all... much easier in the summer

AitchTwoOh · 13/11/2007 09:50

possum, i'm not sure. whenever anyone questions it they all get up in arms ans insist it's a Proper Word. actually they've been very sweet and have stopped doing all this SCUTTLEBUGGERS SIGN IN HERE* stuff, possibly since i mentioned that it made my eyes bleed. [proud] [touched]

VegetatingPossum · 13/11/2007 10:14

I have had two grapes.
I can't eat citrus, root veg (esp carrots) or mushrooms as they make DS's skin flare. Strange but true. So I am feeling a bit non-plussed on the winter fruit and veg front. And am loathe to buy expensive, air freighted exotic f & v to make up the difference.

TooT, I wish I still had my flat in central London, then you could have hung out there. I've never met you but I just know you're lovely and would have gladly posted you the keys. Am racking brains for something you can do until 8pm on the Sunday, Greeny's unwanted room does sound a possibility.

TooTicky · 13/11/2007 10:16

Blimey Possum, hope the op goes well and really sorry you won't be coming to the meet-up.

TooTicky · 13/11/2007 10:20

Goodness, that sounds really hard on the food front. Is your homeopath being helpful?

And thank you so much for the thought of your flat
Don't think I'll use Greeny's room - it's not even as ithough we'd get a whole night's use out of it. And financially, I am reaching the small and scared stage The only reason we're coming on Sunday isd that I've already bought the tickets.

TooTicky · 13/11/2007 10:22

Are squashes okay? Some of them keep for months so you could buy loads now....

IdrisTheDragon · 13/11/2007 10:28

Hello. I am feeling rather smallish and tired and things.

Will eat a banana.

TooTicky · 13/11/2007 10:55

We will be small together, Idris.

frothykindofadrink · 13/11/2007 10:58

have I missed something? is there a meet-up?

TooTicky · 13/11/2007 11:13

It is a 10/10 meet-up

How are you feeling?

IdrisTheDragon · 13/11/2007 11:15

And I have messed up my toolbar so it is on the left in a column instead of in a row at the bottom and tech has even answered my plea for help and I still cvan't move it and it is making me .

IdrisTheDragon · 13/11/2007 11:16

DD keeps eating "little nana"

IdrisTheDragon · 13/11/2007 11:18

There was meant to be a at the end of that .

IdrisTheDragon · 13/11/2007 11:20

And I want to go to sleep and can't obviously as I am a Responsible Mother.

IdrisTheDragon · 13/11/2007 11:21

DD and I need to get DS from pre-school soon. I seem to have achieved lamentably little while he has been there today.

IdrisTheDragon · 13/11/2007 11:22

ANd it would appear I am taking over the 10/10 thread with my ramblings.

Dried apricots.

frothykindofadrink · 13/11/2007 11:24
