For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

FrannyandZooey · 12/11/2007 11:09

I ruddy hate pumpkins. Do you know what I REALLY hate? When people call their children "pumkin". Or is it "punkin"? Anyway, they should stop.

frothykindofadrink · 12/11/2007 11:12

last year I had a lovely recipe for pumpkin and ginger teabread

ooooh it was really lovely

but now I have lost it

FrannyandZooey · 12/11/2007 11:14

IntergalacticWalrus · 12/11/2007 11:30

Oh yes, "punkin"

Am partial to a bit of pumpkin myself, but IO find they are a lot of work for liottl reward (ie ther's no sodding flesh, it's all seeds and stringy bits)

Enid · 12/11/2007 11:36

That title is the best yet btw

FrannyandZooey · 12/11/2007 11:42

except for the fact it mentions repulsive pumpkin jam, you mean, Enid

Tatties · 12/11/2007 11:42

Hmmm, pumpkin jam would be a bit wrong wouldn't it?

I have just been hanging out the washing and my fingers are like blocks of ice [brr]

FrannyandZooey · 12/11/2007 11:44

he he great thread title.

Was going to link to the 'songs in the style of exotic and not-so-exotic vegetables' thread but of course it was a chat thread so it would have disappeared about a year ago...

it's true I'm not familiar with pumpkin jam though.

How about pumpkin chutney, franny? Would that work better?

Anyway...

'You're twisting my melons man
You know you talk so hip..'

Gizmo flicks lank madchester haircut out of eyes and reaches for bottle....

Ah, the memories.

Sorry not to be able to join you on your crazeee desert island sojourn over the weekend - RL intervened, as it often does. But be assured many innocent fruits and vegetables met a sticky end in the Gizmo household. Plus there was some exercise.

FrannyandZooey · 12/11/2007 12:59

gizmo do not tease large hormonal ladies

it will end in tears

gizmo · 12/11/2007 13:01

Easily-scared-gizmo says:

'Mine or yours Franny?'
