Update on misdees hubby Peter :(

I have had misdee on the phone and she has asked me to update you all.

Peter has been put on the urgent list for a new heart
However, he will only be on the list for 3 weeks. The docs are saying he cannot live on his current VAD machine longer than 3 weeks due to too much build up in his tubes After those 3 weeks they will have to put in a new VAd machine which means more open heart surgery, 3 months recovery and carers and misdee retraining if he wants to come home. He will also be taken off the transplant list for atleast 3 months.

Peter is also considering refusing to let them replace his VAD as he is tired and knows how hard it will be on him and the family. Misdee is very upset by the news and is hoping that a new heart comes in the next 3 weeks so they dont have to consider any options. Peter is the only one waiting for a heart right now but she has told me that no heart transplants have happened in the last 3 months
This is a devastating blow for them, as they were hoping urgent list for longer as it increases his chance of transplant.

Sparkleygothcat (misdee's big sis) is away with family but if you want to email me (her lit sis) I will pass on any messages when is ee her tomorrow.

Just clicked on a link higher up and saw the lovely photo of the family. The girls are so beautiful. Hoping for the best news.

Haven't heard about the boxer. Has he definitely died? Wasn't on the lunch time news.

Another quick update.

Spoke to sarah and she is sounding a little more positive. Peter has this afternoon been put on the urgent list and the docs are positive they will find him a heart. They have come up with another option for replacing the VAD machine, which still needs to be done, but they are now suggesting using as much of the old VAD as possible to save Peter having to go though open heart.
The team at Harefields are really fighting to do everything right now, but still a long way to go and just hoping that heart comes quick.
Im off for the weekend, but have ask someone on MN who sarah is in touch with to update you if she can.

Oh that sounds like people have finally put there thinking caps on. Tentative

came on to update too, but see Lisad123 has. If there is any more news I will try and get online to update, but am at SILs and won't be able to get online as much asI would like.

Another quick update!
Misdee has told me that the doctors are split.
Some want to put him on the urgent list till a heart becomes available, some want to put him on urgent for 3 weeks then replace some of the LVAD possibly lowering his list status and some want to put a newer, more portable machine in but that would mean more surgery and recovery time off the list.
Also she has been approached by This Morning to do a piece of waiting for transplants, the effect on family etc! But she is really unsure because of the effect it may have on the girls.

thank you for the update...and sorry that misdee has such uncertainty in her life right now....is the decision up to them...i.e. which treatment....if somust be hard to know what to choose!
As for the piece on this morning...I know it would raise awareness, but can understand that misdee worries about teh effects on her children...again...not an easy decision.
