Update on misdees hubby Peter :(

I have had misdee on the phone and she has asked me to update you all.

Peter has been put on the urgent list for a new heart
However, he will only be on the list for 3 weeks. The docs are saying he cannot live on his current VAD machine longer than 3 weeks due to too much build up in his tubes After those 3 weeks they will have to put in a new VAd machine which means more open heart surgery, 3 months recovery and carers and misdee retraining if he wants to come home. He will also be taken off the transplant list for atleast 3 months.

Peter is also considering refusing to let them replace his VAD as he is tired and knows how hard it will be on him and the family. Misdee is very upset by the news and is hoping that a new heart comes in the next 3 weeks so they dont have to consider any options. Peter is the only one waiting for a heart right now but she has told me that no heart transplants have happened in the last 3 months
This is a devastating blow for them, as they were hoping urgent list for longer as it increases his chance of transplant.

Sparkleygothcat (misdee's big sis) is away with family but if you want to email me (her lit sis) I will pass on any messages when is ee her tomorrow.

'This is probably inappropriate (and if it is I apologise ) but I'm not sure what to do with it.

I've just heard on the news that they are going to switch off the life support of the boxer who was shot on Monday night. I remember misdee saying that they need a tall donar because of Peters height, this guy was 6'9" and although its a horrible, horrible tragedy that this has happened it would be amazing if it could help someone in the end. I have no idea if his family is thinking of donation, but if anyone could think of a way of subtley or tactfully bringing the idea to their attention, it might help someone.

You're right, that's completely inappropriate for members of the public to even think of approaching that man's family.

We don't know what his decision was, but there are professionals who are trained to approach the family in such a situation, and there's a very good reason for that. That man's family is not only having to deal with his sudden death but also with the fact that he was murdered.

All the best to Peter, but PLEASE, PLEASE try to also show some consideration for this man's family

I realise that, VVV, but really, there's no 'tactful' or appropriate way for an untrained member of the public to approach that man's family - it may even be counter-productive and we also have NO idea what decision he or his family have made.

So much as people want to help, that sort of thing is really and truly best left to those who are trained to work with people in such a situation.

Let's help by keeping up the good vibes, thoughts and prayers.

am so so sorry to hear this. poor poor misdee, not to mention Peter and the girls.. well all of you.

I can't begin to imagine what it must be like. Makes the trivial things in my life seem exactly that. My thoughts are with you all.
