Update on misdees hubby Peter :(

I have had misdee on the phone and she has asked me to update you all.

Peter has been put on the urgent list for a new heart
However, he will only be on the list for 3 weeks. The docs are saying he cannot live on his current VAD machine longer than 3 weeks due to too much build up in his tubes After those 3 weeks they will have to put in a new VAd machine which means more open heart surgery, 3 months recovery and carers and misdee retraining if he wants to come home. He will also be taken off the transplant list for atleast 3 months.

Peter is also considering refusing to let them replace his VAD as he is tired and knows how hard it will be on him and the family. Misdee is very upset by the news and is hoping that a new heart comes in the next 3 weeks so they dont have to consider any options. Peter is the only one waiting for a heart right now but she has told me that no heart transplants have happened in the last 3 months
This is a devastating blow for them, as they were hoping urgent list for longer as it increases his chance of transplant.

Sparkleygothcat (misdee's big sis) is away with family but if you want to email me (her lit sis) I will pass on any messages when is ee her tomorrow.

This is probably inappropriate (and if it is I apologise ) but I'm not sure what to do with it.

I've just heard on the news that they are going to switch off the life support of the boxer who was shot on Monday night. I remember misdee saying that they need a tall donar because of Peters height, this guy was 6'9" and although its a horrible, horrible tragedy that this has happened it would be amazing if it could help someone in the end. I have no idea if his family is thinking of donation, but if anyone could think of a way of subtley or tactfully bringing the idea to their attention, it might help someone.
Sorry if this all sounds crass, couldn't think of a 'good' way of putting it tbh

Oh this 3 weeks thing is awful news .

I really can't imagine how Misdee and peter can be coping with this horrendous situation.

My thoughts are with them.

Hoping like hell that that family will donate!

I truly hope Peter gets the heart he so badly needs soon.

Excuse my ignorance o organ donation but how come there are no hearts available? Is it simply a lack of donors?

What awful news, and how dreadful that the hospital refused to put Peter on the urgent list weeks ago as Misdee wanted.

Is there any way of approaching anyone regarding this boxer guy?

Also, like last month when that little girl needed a transplant and the search was Europe wide - can that be done again??
