Update on misdees hubby Peter :(

I have had misdee on the phone and she has asked me to update you all.

Peter has been put on the urgent list for a new heart
However, he will only be on the list for 3 weeks. The docs are saying he cannot live on his current VAD machine longer than 3 weeks due to too much build up in his tubes After those 3 weeks they will have to put in a new VAd machine which means more open heart surgery, 3 months recovery and carers and misdee retraining if he wants to come home. He will also be taken off the transplant list for atleast 3 months.

Peter is also considering refusing to let them replace his VAD as he is tired and knows how hard it will be on him and the family. Misdee is very upset by the news and is hoping that a new heart comes in the next 3 weeks so they dont have to consider any options. Peter is the only one waiting for a heart right now but she has told me that no heart transplants have happened in the last 3 months
This is a devastating blow for them, as they were hoping urgent list for longer as it increases his chance of transplant.

Sparkleygothcat (misdee's big sis) is away with family but if you want to email me (her lit sis) I will pass on any messages when is ee her tomorrow.

hope I haven't jumped the gun re: local paper - I put my contact details on there, so they'd only call/email me, not them hopefully

She's not at home right now shes with my mum so wouldnt worry too much. I would ring and ask her if its ok for me to update the local paper but i would worry i might get the facts wrong or something really stupid. Its ok, only good intentions.

Agree with others, if we can get some publicity on GMTV or something (have seen similar before) it could really help.

So so sorry to read such a sad update. Please tell Misdee we are always thinking of her, and all the rest of your family too.

lisa - they need to consider the fact that if things don't go the way we all hope that the press will still have the story and may well follow up. it could be more painful, and they need to think it through carefully.

Lisa - I think you would be better talking to a national paper not a local one, as the wider the coverage the better.

This is really hard news to hear. I'm local to Misdee so if I can do anything at all to help please CAT me and I'll be there.

I've just got a text from her saying it all too. He was so tired the last time I saw him.
She knows where I am if she needs me.

IF misdee felt up to it, a national press thing would be V timely. Lots of stuff about transplants in the news at the moment.

oh poor you and peter (and families) misdee

from what I remember, misdee has done stuff with the News of the World (this year I think and before that) so if she wants to do something, it may just be a question of calling her old contact up

will really keep fingers crossed that something comes up in the next couple of weeks
