I am sobbing as i type this.

Peter is very ill. there is some damage to his brain, there is a real possibility he wont recover completly this time. The peter I married appears to have gone. Sometimes he comes back, its very distressing.

Hospital team are having a meeting on thursdasy to discuss emergency transplant list. He may be suspended for a few weeks, but as yet we dont know.

I have been told he may not get through transplant as he is very very ill. but for now we need to try and stay positive. Its very hard.

I havent told the children, i cant.

I want a happy ending, but its so far out of reach.

How you keep your sense of humour is astonishing. I really hope he pulls through again - he did so bloody well to get to sports day.

Very best wishes to you all xx

You poor poor thing.I was just writing to someone yesterday that my father is really not here, not on the planet in any kind of normal sense (he has dementia). If anything people can do to help you just say.

I think whether and what you tell the children is up to you to judge. I would judge that based on their age and their own personalities. Someone I know whose wife died last year and left him with young chidlren they hired some very good therapists to work with the children both before and after which worked very well indeed although nothing of course really is an sort of complete solution.

Important issues you probably don't want to think about or may already have dealt with like an enduring power of attorney and a will should really be dealt with but you're crying and I doubt it's very helpful for me to add that.

Oh Misdee - I can't believe this news. So so sad for you. Can't think what to say except you and the girls are in my thoughts.

sparkler · 15/07/2007 11:23

Misdee - I've just found this thread. Sending you and you family my thoughts at this worrying time. Unfortunately, nothing practical I can do other than say I'm on MSN anytime you want to chat. I'm not the best at dishing out advice but am a good listener. Stay strong, easier said than done I know.

I'm so sorry Misdee. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

DumbledoresGirl · 15/07/2007 11:37

Misdee, I am very sorry to read this. I saw your previous thread and did not know whether to post but now that I see you so desperate, I just wanted to let you know that there is still hope that Peter will regain his memory after the stroke. My mother had a massive stroke last September and for weeks she could not remember anything for a minute and had no idea who her own children were, but she came through. I know Peter's situation is so much more complicated, but do not lose hope that he will regain his memory yet. I know his body has been through so much but the power of the brain to medn itself is truly remarkable.

Sending you my best wishes.

Will keep everything crossed for you, your so strong you and Peter really dont deserve this

all my love and best wishes x x x x
