I am sobbing as i type this.

Peter is very ill. there is some damage to his brain, there is a real possibility he wont recover completly this time. The peter I married appears to have gone. Sometimes he comes back, its very distressing.

Hospital team are having a meeting on thursdasy to discuss emergency transplant list. He may be suspended for a few weeks, but as yet we dont know.

I have been told he may not get through transplant as he is very very ill. but for now we need to try and stay positive. Its very hard.

I havent told the children, i cant.

I want a happy ending, but its so far out of reach.

Reading between the lines I think that sounds pretty good misdee (as far as this situation can ever be good).Hope him being in hospital gives you some time to get yourself back together. You really are to be admired xx

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family Misdee. Like many others I have been following your story for ages and marvel at the way you cope with everything.

I hope that the next few weeks are successful in stabilising Peter's condition and he gets his new heart pronto.

We will keep you in our thoughts.

oh there has been slight improvement today with his memory, he is starting to retain information again, only a little bit, but it is an improvment.

I am not sure if this will be the case with your Peter but my younger brother also called Peter had a bleed in 2000 and he made a full recovery memory and everything although he still has tinnitus. The doctors at the time said the bleed was preferable to a clot in terms of outcome but I don't know if thats a general thing or just his case.He was disorientated for a couple of days and then started to remember HTH

MaryAnnSingleton · 16/07/2007 16:55

haven't posted on your threads about this before - didn't want to intrude on something so very personal but send good positive thoughts to you and your family xxxxx

Budababe · 16/07/2007 16:58

Thanks for the update misdee - been wondering about you all day.

I take it a bleed isn't as serious as a clot? Is a bleed a TIA and a clot a Stroke?

The improvement in memory sounds good obviously.

Please please God he gets a heart as soon as he is strong enough.

Best wishes to you and your family in what must be an unimaginably difficult time. To add to what others have said, my father had a severe stroke and memory loss 15 years ago - for a while it was like dealing with a stranger but within a few months he was recognisably my father and remains that to this day. Good luck to you all.

tortoiseSHELL · 16/07/2007 19:21

Misdee, glad there's been some improvement, here's hoping this leads to a successful transplant for Peter and a restored family life for you all.
