So....... am I talking to myself here?? Where are you all? Lost your mojos?

I've been out twice since last weekend - I love running in the Autumn - what are you all up to?

TheDucHearseOfCorpseBride · 30/10/2007 23:09

Well done Saggars. And Debi. Fantastic running.

I am now 10 weeks pregnant and will start power-walking next week when DD2 goes back to pre-school. GP has said it's fine to keep jogging for a little while yet but I don't think there's any need for that!

I will drop in from time to time to keep me motivated for next summer - baby due end of May and I hope to start running again from the end of July.

But it seems a lifetime away. I am actually missing the running loads!

DebitheScot · 31/10/2007 16:17

I'm still here. Not done many runs since the 10k coz of being busy but planning one tonight. Hoping to do about 5 miles as I have another 10k on Sunday. Then I don't have any more races planned but will still try to get out at least once a week over the winter. Its hard to get out while its light but I guess if I stick to mainish roads I should be ok running in the dark.

mamamoo · 04/11/2007 19:32

Have to say lost this thread from my watch list

House buying and selling so no running for about 7 weeks

First run back today...about 35 mins but felt good....why oh why did I stop???????

Hope theres some other running folk out there as I will need a bit of motivation over the winter months!!

Need to catch up on all the posts now............

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 04/11/2007 20:58

DD2 is back to pre-school tomorrow after 2 weeks half-term. And I am feeling a lot less sick. So I'm intending to power walk my usual 5k course tomorrow with, if it feels OK, a few short spells of slow jogging. And I hope it's stays beautiful and sunny and doesn't start raining!!

Nice to see you back mamamoo!

Wallace · 04/11/2007 21:07

Well done Sagger [grin[

Good luck norks.

I haven't run properly since I sprained my ankle

However I have printed out a schedule form runnersworld smartcoach to train for 10 miles in decemeber, so I will be on a roll again soon

Wallace · 04/11/2007 21:08

how did yours go debithescot?

Are you in Scotland btw?

DebitheScot · 05/11/2007 15:42

Hi Wallace, my race went really well. I knocked over 5 mins off my time from 3 weeks ago. It was a really good race, all off road (so was expecting a slow time) which I preferred to running on road. My official time was 53:30 and I came 65th out of 195 women! I was very shocked at my time and very chuffed too.

I'm not in Scotland no. Living in Hampshire at the moment, been here 4 years but hoping to get back to Scotland next year.

I've got the bug for doing races now and want to keep doing them (mind you it could get expensive, some of the entry fees aren't cheap) but we also want to start trying for another baby. Can't really do both I don't think.

Wallace · 05/11/2007 19:07

Wow well done that is good! I prefer off road too, and that makes your time even better because apparently running on road is faster IYSWIM

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 05/11/2007 19:34

Congrats Norks (not sure if I said that further down but never mind). Don't overdo it.

I'm still getting out but have had to shorten my runs - again! I think I need new shoes as I have shin splints in my right leg and my achilles has flared Will have to hang on 'til Santa comes though I think.

Well done to Paula in the NY marathon. She looked very (bit too) skinny though.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 05/11/2007 19:53

Well 'power walk' may be too energetic a term but it was certainly brisk! I had one 5 minute jog but it didn't feel right so I just resumed walking. So nearly 6k took me 56 minutes! (Compare and contrast with Debi!!!).

Hopefully I can at least keep up the brisk walking until I'm able to start running again. It must make some difference to my fitness level... .

Wallace · 08/11/2007 19:09

Went for a lovely run in the snow this afternoon

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 08/11/2007 20:30

Snow? Are you serious?! Is that Scotland? Eeek!

I had a 3k brisk walk with a 5 minute jog in the middle this morning. Was sunny but cold . Then had booking-in appointment with midwife, who was impressed but also cautioned me not to do too much. As if!

Wallace · 09/11/2007 05:31

Yes, snow Highlands of Scotland

Well done you - I use pregnancy as an excuse to do nothing

Veggiemummy · 19/11/2007 14:52

hello back from Oz browner but a little chubbier than when i left, have done no running for 4 weeks and even then only did a couple of runs whilst there due to DS not wanting me to leave his little side. back to sunny London and i have to say this may sound weird but this cooler weather is more inspiring of a run for me than the sweltering temps back home. will get back into it as soon as i'm over this jetlag.

Veggiemummy · 19/11/2007 14:53

havent read back over what you've all been up to, how were all the sept/oct/nov races

mamamoo · 19/11/2007 17:15

Welcome back veggiemummy. I'm struggling to get back into things - had a bit of a break whilst house selling and buying. Am on one of teh nike challenges - northeners vs southerners but I think Im bottom of the table!!

DebitheScot · 29/11/2007 09:18

Its all gone very quiet here. Is noone running any more?

Celery · 29/11/2007 17:32

Hi everyone,

I had a quiet few weeks with the running, never stopped completely, but sick kids/me etc meant I was only getting out once or twice a week. This week, I finally found someone who wants to go out regularly with me. He is starting at the very beginning, so it will be a little while before we can run properly together, but he is very keen, so I am delighted. It is so motivational, especially in the winter weather!

I have also got a treadmill, in the garage, and I have to say I love it. It means I can run now when my husband is away (which is quite a lot ). I take the baby monitor out there in the evening and I can do a quick half an hour. It's not as much fun as running outside, but it keeps my fitness levels up.

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 29/11/2007 20:34

Glad someone has given the thread CPR lol!

Treadmill sounds great Celery - well done you for keeping motivated.

I'm sort of getting out but struggling a bit. My achilles is playing up and the inside of my knee on the same leg is niggling but not when I run, just when I've been on my feet all day. I really need new shoes both for running and for work, but the pennies are a bit tight at the moment.

So just plodding slowly at the moment but hoping for better things in the new year

.....and judging by the state of my legs in the mirror in Next today it can't come soon enough.

Wallace · 02/12/2007 20:32

I've been struggling too since I sprained my ankle and missed my half marathon.

Only getting out twice a week at the most and running for aabout 30 mins. I lost so much fitness when I wasn't running

So much harder to fit running in now it isn't light until about 8.30, and is too dark to run by 3.30

Never mind. I was planning to do a 10 mile race in the middle of december, but not sure I will make it. However there is a 6k race on the same day even closer to home. Only problem is I have to wear a SANTA suit What do you think?

DebitheScot · 03/12/2007 15:26

I was meant to be doing a santa run too but its only about 4 or 5k so I don't know if I can be bothered really.
Trying to get out once a week but not doing much else really. And the last couple of weeks that 1 run has only been about half an hour. I need to get my butt into gear and get out more.

rebelmum1 · 03/12/2007 15:37

i'm running for over 35 mins again and looking for a 5k run. Going to do some uphill running to help burn fat. has to be on treadmill in the evenings though.

rebelmum1 · 03/12/2007 15:43

can anyone recommend a site to find local races?
