Went out with trainer today and managed 23 minutes but broken up within a 40 minute outing. Tomorrow is my long run and am aiming at being out for an hour and ten.

I need to carry out the diet properly as well now and just get on with it.

Saggars get out there! I know how hard it is. Some mornings I am getting out at 5.30 in order to fit in a run and trying to do one at lunch at work sometimes as well.

Popsy you are doing so well its brilliant!

Veggiemummy · 15/09/2007 19:00

hello still no runs yet i am crap but have been cycling a bit...ok DH and i went out for a ride to a friends house with DS in the bike baby child seat, ok tomorrow i run even if only for 15mins!!!!

Celery i find if i run consitently over winter i dont get colds, i trained all through winter one year for London marathon and didnt get any colds. I read somewhere that running keeps your body 'stressed' so it keeps it's white cells up therefore increasing your chances of warding off infections. However, i think you have to be careful not to over stress so important to not over do it, maintenance training is best i thin, and leave out intensive training for early spring.

Welcome back GF and Pidge!
Need to get out soon and back into it, cannot rest on my laurels forever!

popsycal · 15/09/2007 20:27

I am plannig a run tomorrow.
Maybe 4 miles. Thinking about getting dh to drop me off 4 miles away so I can't wimp out after one loop

Veggiemummy · 15/09/2007 20:48

right Popsy your on we both run tomorrow. locked in.

Celery · 15/09/2007 21:12

Thanks for the advice, veggiemummy - I won't start training for the marathon until the spring then

I ran for 22 minutes today, and it felt okay. I probably could have carried on for another minute or two, but seeing as my previous longest run was 15 minutes, I didn't want to push it. I finally feel like I'm getting somewhere.

glitterfairy · 16/09/2007 08:18

Well done celery.

Hello doublebluff!

Veggiemummy I agree and had a sore throat this week which my ds ws really ill wiht it lasted a day and went away. I also take zinc which I swear by as I used to get tonsilitis every winter too.

Am off on long run later. enjoy your sunday running runsnetters.

Wallace · 16/09/2007 08:50

I did a charity walk/run etc yesterday. It was a 2 mile course and you could do it as many times as you liked in 2 hours. I did it 5 times, so I did 10 miles I won the prize for most miles done - a dinner for 2!

Sorry to hear so many of you have been unwell over the summer - I blame the weather

popsycal · 16/09/2007 08:59

Wow Wallace! Well done!

Yes you will! Good idea to get your dh to drop you off 4 miles away

glitterfairy · 16/09/2007 11:40

Blimey Wallace well done and inspirational. Off to run now.

popsycal · 16/09/2007 13:24

I still feel poorly so not sure whether running is actually a good idea no matter how good my intentions...

Veggiemummy · 16/09/2007 14:55

well the running keeps you free of colds and flus is true, i havent run properly for a 3 weeks and have had a week off yoga due to DH being away and now have woken up this morning with a sore throat. DS is also sick, we are both slabbed out on the couch watching lightening McQueen. oh it is such a nice day outside, i would love to just pop out for half an hour but we have a 24hour flight on wednesday and i don't want to be stuffed up and sick for it.

sorry Popsy will have to pull out of todays run.

dinny · 16/09/2007 15:19

This is what I think I am going to start to follow

DoubleBluff · 16/09/2007 15:31

Hi am determined to go ut for a runlater.
if you see me on here tonight ask me if I went!
Well done Wallace - 10 miles is awesome!
I need to start building up my mileaage for my half marathon end of October - I have recruited a couple of guys from my office to run it too so I cannot back out.

dinny · 16/09/2007 15:42

can I ask you when you do your training - which days/times etc?

popsycal · 16/09/2007 18:16

I tend to do one longer run at a weekend when dh is around. The other two I fit in during the week. I work 2 days a week so it tends not to be on those nights. Luckily, DH is home by around 4:30, so often I have the dinner on and whizz out for half an hour as soon as he gets in.

glitterfairy · 16/09/2007 18:54

I tend to run on a Wednesday when I take the kids to ballet. I am a single mum who works full time and so fit things in around child care and work.

I can run at lunch times as there is a shower near my office but havent so far plucked up the courage. I also run Saturday and do a long run on Sunday. I want for an hour and fifteen minutes today. It all keeps me sane and happy though.
