popsycal · 16/09/2007 19:03

well done glitterfairy

dinny · 16/09/2007 19:50

very inspiring!

I really should be able to fit it in as I work 3 days a week and we have showers in office plus a gym and ds is at playgroup 4 mornings a week - reading that back makes me think I don't have to get up at crack of dawn to do it..... Must start seriously!

popsycal · 16/09/2007 20:01

ds2 will start to go to playgroup one morning a week on one of my days off and I am going to try to fit in a run then.....in theory anyway

DoubleBluff · 16/09/2007 21:01

I went out today for a good hour - but was very hot.
I usually get up one morning a week and go before DS's and Dh get up, do one long run on Thurs / Fir when off and kids are in school and one long run on Sat/ Sun.

Pidge · 16/09/2007 21:08

thanks for the welcome back folks.

have acquired a groovy MP3 player for my birthday, so am now longing to get out for a run with musical accompaniment! Hopefully tomorrow.

Popsy - I'm really not sure about the half marathon - I will only have run 6 times in about 3 months, and my longest run was 9 miles this weekend - I'd still have to manage another 4 on top of that, and the 1/2 is in 2 weeks time. Main thing is I don't want to get injured.

glitterfairy · 16/09/2007 22:11

Pidge mine is in five weeks and I am not sure either as I have such a long way to go but if I have to walk I am going to do it as I have forced myself to set up a just giving page for my dad with cancer and am supporting his charity.

I knew it was the only way I wouldnt back out and it is keeping me going with the training.

Dounle bluff well done!

DoubleBluff · 17/09/2007 21:21

Glitter I think my half is the same dat as you (28/10) which means I have to double my mileage by tehn - not sure if it is possible as have two weekends away and a wedding inbetween!

DebitheScot · 18/09/2007 19:57

Woohoo, just did 4.52 miles in 45 mins. Thats the first time I've done 10 min miles when doing over 3 miles and the first time I've run that far on my own.

Pidge · 18/09/2007 21:32

well - half marathon dilemma is resolved - it has been canceled due to foot and mouth!!!

now of course I'm already muttering to myself about an alternative!

might be more sensible to go for a 10k though.

Veggiemummy · 18/09/2007 21:34

Off home to australia for 6 weeks ladies so will prob not be on for a while (might pop up occasionally to see what your all up to). Hopefully will get some running in whilst i have willing babysitters. i'm hoping to get myself back into a habit again.

All the best to those with races coming up in late sept and oct, and those with halfs in the very near future, have a go and enjoy the run.

DoubleBluff · 19/09/2007 16:56

Have a great time in Oz veggiemumy with your family!
Send us a postcard!!

popsycal · 19/09/2007 17:08

Pidge - nice to haver the decision taken out of your hands
Veggie - have a great time

I havent run since my 10k. Have had some weirdy virus or hormonal thing again and am soooo tired as both ds1 and ds2 are sleeping dreadfully even by their standards. Was going to run tonight but decided to wait until the weekend and do a steady 5k.

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 19/09/2007 18:58

I'm off for a couple of days - not that I've been here much lol.

dd is going into hospital tomorrow. Wish us luck!

Pidge · 20/09/2007 13:32

good luck saggars and dd - hope it's nothing serious and all goes smoothly.

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 21/09/2007 15:48

Back sooner than expected

We 'sprung' dd - pretty much discharged ourselves and made a break for it.

She's had some metalwork removed from her leg Pidge - more sore than serious.

Pidge · 21/09/2007 20:09

Congrats on getting your dd home.

I am supposed to be going out for 1-1 1/2 hrs tomorrow morning but this is dependent on me not drinking too much tonight. It's 8pm and I've already had a glass of wine! It's not looking that promising.

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 21/09/2007 20:56

I was supposed to be doing 5 miles tomorrow but I think it might have to be Sunday. I have wine too

popsycal · 21/09/2007 21:20

i have wine too
but i am running this weekend. going to aim for 1 hour

glitterfairy · 22/09/2007 15:47

Am having a weekend off (I am worried about this half db) because I am not feeling well and am lapsing so need a kick on Monday.

Pidge · 22/09/2007 19:54

glitterfairy - you've still got a fair few weeks - you just need to put in one good long run and your confidence will be there that you can do it.

I managed an hour and ten very slowly this morning (despite two large glasses of wine last night). Can't say that I enjoyed it much until about the last 10 minutes when I knew I was nearly home. But good to get it out of the way.

glitterfairy · 23/09/2007 17:26

Thanks Pidge that was the kick I needed! Off I go tomorrow then. Have had a well deserved rest today but this week I am going to kick ass (IN the manner of Lance Armstrong of course)

DoubleBluff · 23/09/2007 20:50

Go Gliter Go glitter!!
Managed an hour and ten onFriday and am tryinh to build up by ten minutes a time for the half, Hope that is enough don't really feel very prepared.

glitterfairy · 26/09/2007 06:39

You cant be less prepared than me db! I reckon I will walk most of it to be honest. I have put on weight which has meant that I am really slow and am struggling with training and working and looking after three kids and looking for a new job and and and.....

DoubleBluff · 26/09/2007 18:39

Right then we will both do it regardless of times, if we finish then we have achieved.
I ran 7 miles yesterday and I am exhausted today. Don't knoew how I am going to double that in 4 weeks!
I just hope there is someone there slower than me!

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 29/09/2007 22:41

I finally managed my 5 today!!

Very slow (53 minutes) but not been out since last weekend when I did 4.5 so 'tis OK I think.

Is anyone doing the GNR tomorrow?
