OP posts:
popsycal · 18/05/2007 21:29

highly likely

2boysmacca · 18/05/2007 21:30

Typical, I always end up talking to myself on threads

mckenzie · 18/05/2007 21:32

deegward - you have my utmost sympathy as I can remember the night before my first triathlon too.

I hope you enjoy it. I loved it all (the swimming was my weakest then although at the moment it would be the running).
Is it a sprint distance?

mustrunmore · 19/05/2007 08:22

Deviousdaffodil; see if homefitness24 are still trading on ebay. I got my treadmill from there, and it is superb value for money (got it for £800 inc delivery from Germany). Its a 4000n I think off the top of my head (not into the stats now, I just get on it and go!!).

Hello Macca

popsycal · 19/05/2007 08:30

treadmills - also try that shop that i linked to below for my running shoes
they seem reasonable and reliable

Pidge · 19/05/2007 12:14

deviousdaffodil - did you see my earlier post - our copy of Which magazine this month has a feature where they tested out treadmills and recommend 'best buys'. If you'd like to see the info give me a shout.

popsycal - good luck with the shoe return.

I still haven't faced my local running shop to complain that my trainers from there wore out after about 150 miles - they're completely unwearable as they've worn through to the plastic on the back heel which is where I got my blister in the marathon. Grumble grumble!

DeviousDaffodil · 19/05/2007 12:39

Cheers Pidge sorry didn't get back to you.
I am on MSN emmapem at hotmail.co.uk.
Mustrunmore been checking out treadmills on ebay - ther are so many!
Missed out on a good 2nd hand bargain last week so gutted.
Will be out later for a quickie if the rain hold s off!
Hope the blisters/ injuries are clearing, it is so annoying when you can't get out there!

popsycal · 19/05/2007 15:38

took the shoes back no bother

went to the nike shop and tried on a pair of air structure triax
didnt buy as they are cheaper online....so off to buy some now

popsycal · 19/05/2007 15:39

oh and just to add - just taught my 3 hours of dance classes and worked through the osre knees and feel great

Lilliput · 19/05/2007 21:55

Do you think running is making me STARVING a lot of the time? I didn't run today but still all I can think about is food. I am certainly getting fitter but I am not losing any weight.

mustrunmore · 19/05/2007 21:56

popsycal; I could be 2boysmacca too, kind of. So imagine when she cropped up on my post natal thread !

popsycal · 19/05/2007 22:01

there are two mners on here who i could be lol

Lilliput · 19/05/2007 22:02

Just me then

mustrunmore · 19/05/2007 22:05

Sorry lilliput, didnt mean to ignore you. Not sure if this helps or not, but I always find that I eat properly on the days I run. Then if I take a day off, I just eat crap, maybe because I think I dont have to feel ready to run or something. I really need to sort myself out.

MingMingtheWonderPet · 20/05/2007 09:17

Off on holiday today! Hope you all enjoy your running. I am taking trainers with me, but I wonder if I will actually do anything?

glitterfairy · 20/05/2007 17:35

deegward how did it go?

Have jsut done a bike ride. I went running yesterday and my calves ached like crazy so although today is my long run I decided to give them a break and cycle instead.

Tomorrow I will do a long run. My trainer wants me to do 11k and will try for that!

popsycal · 20/05/2007 17:38

how was the triathalon?

i ran just one mile today (in less then 10 mins - v pleased as only running a few weeks) in a comination of walk 2 mins run 4 mins
but had to walk back

knees not ready
going to wait til my new shoes arrive on tuesday
may take dh's old bike out for a ride tomorrow night

mustrunmore · 20/05/2007 21:39

Never mind popsycal If its any consolation, my foot/ankle thing is much better, but because I've had a week off without any running (other than a 15 min stagger), I was crap tonight. Did only 5km, and that took 33 mins doing a mix of flat and hills. I really need to run 5 or 6 days a week to keep my momentum, mentally and physically (and literally!) Oh well. Can do something tomorrow AM as dh not leaving for work til noon

mustrunmore · 20/05/2007 21:40

Oh, but I did spend alot of today smashing concrete with a sledgehammer; does that count as exercise?

mckenzie · 20/05/2007 21:40

where are you deegward? We'd love to know if you enjoyed your tri.

Mustrunmore - I saw marathonmum this week. She's only got 4 weeks to go, has the builders in running one week behind, working 3 mornings a week and running the children here there and everywhere yet still not complaining and looking grand. Don't you just hate her??
I invited her to lunch so that my DD could play with her youngest while she rested up for an hour or so but in the end DS, off school with chicken pox, had her playing football in the garden for about 2 hours.

hana · 20/05/2007 21:46

hello runners
have finally gotten off my backside and went for a little run yesterday, first one in a few weeks. of coures felt great!
have also signed up to do a 10k charity run at Hampton Court at the end of Sept.....anyone doing this one?

( Iha venew balance sneakers and they are great. - my second pair, and I'd get them again.)

mustrunmore · 20/05/2007 21:58

Mckenzie, she'd be an inspiration to me if I wasnt quite so rubbish myself! I'm suprised she hasnt sacked the builders and taken it on herself

Cappuccino · 20/05/2007 21:59

hello can I join?

I have started running I can now run 5 mins six times (with six 1 min breaks)

am on a programme from a magazine

or am I hopelessly amateur for you all

mustrunmore · 20/05/2007 22:00

I'd like to do Hampton Court, but its a bit far by public transport for me. And I seriously doubt my own abilities to do a 10km now, which is very sad, but true.

hattie2 · 20/05/2007 23:11

hana - do you have the details of the Hampton Court 10k? That's just down the road from me and I need something to keep me motivated! Thanks.
