Tmi warning: heavy bleeding/clots after mirena removal

Hello all
Sorry for tmi but I am really worried as my Dr did not forwarn me about any of this. I had my mirena removed just over a week ago and last night I began bleeding excessively- to the point of soaking through pads every hour and going through to my clothes. I began losing lots of very large and solid clots too. I have never experienced anything like this in my life and wondered if this is something that can happen following mirena removal?

So glad I’ve found this post! I think I may have accidentally pulled my marina out when I used a tampon the other week. Been experiencing regular spotting (had 2nd one in since 2023) so it isn’t old, but needed to use a tampon rather than a pad. This was a week ago and the spotting was slightly heavier the day after tampon use. Didn’t think much of it until Tuesday evening when I had actual red blood. (First time in 8 years!)

Then on Wednesday morning I started bleeding quite heavy and quite literally soaked through two pads in one hour. Then it completely went again and now it’s Saturday and clots and very heavy bleeding has returned. Now panicking about work tomorrow as I can’t keep running off to the toilet!

would I be able to get the thing that stops bleeding at a walk in clinic?

I know this is a very old thread, but can I ask how this panned out? I’m in the same position and thinking of pushing to ablation if my cycles don’t settle down

Oh blimey! This was a long time ago! Well I went back to the gynaecologist and got put on the waiting list for a hysterectomy (turned out I wasn’t suitable for ablation). The non-urgent waiting list was literally years long in my area. But I never had the hysterectomy due to Mother Nature beating the nhs to it! I went through menopause before I got to the top of the list. Hope you get things sorted.
