Week 1 of the 52 small changes challenge - all welcome

So the aim is to make one small change a week over a year to keep it manageable based on a book called 52 Small Changes. I'll post each week with the new challenge and people can adapt to however it suits them.

Week 1 starting tomorrow (or today I guess as it's now after midnight) is to drink more water.

The book advises this method for working out how much you should drink: take your body weight in pounds and divide by two, that number is the amount of water you should drink in ounces eg you weigh 150lb so you should drink 75oz water per day. I can't quite follow this so I'm sticking with 1.5 litres a day as an aim.

Feel free to add fruit or veg or whatever if you don't like the taste of water by itself. I currently have a jug that I've added some raspberries and mint to waiting for me to drink tomorrow.

I will check in at the end of each day to update on my progress and keep myself accountable. I hope you all find it helpful too!

I've managed about 400ml so far. Falls quite short of the target BUT it's 400ml more than what I would normally drink. I will reach the target tomorrow though and I'm aiming for at least one more glass today.

I'm in too. I have a lot of weight to lose, and I've decided 2016 is my year. Baby steps to start so this seems like a great challenge. Only just seen this though so will be starting tomorrow. By the calculation from the book I should be aiming for 4 litres. I really don't think I can drink that much even if I can do it in coffee but I'll start at 2l and work my way up

Well done Cish it's a good start. You've still got plenty of time left today as well.

I'm in too. I've had 4 glasses so far, and DS(3) has kindly finished off my 5th for me Grin. I used to think I had an iron bladder..as of today, not so much! I've put an app on my watch to remind me to keep supping.

Well done Odd. I'm nearly there with 1.5 so might get 2 litres in before bed.
Keeping a glass full in the kitchen so I've just been having a glug whenever I go in there.

Count me in. By the way, it seems easier to drink more water if swigging from a bottle rather than a glass. Don't know why.

I'm off work all of next week so think I'll be ok if at home. Think when I'm back at work I might buy a big bottle on my way in to drink throughout the day.

I'm in, starting from tomorrow. Drinking enough water should be easy shouldn't it?? Shame there's still loads of vodka and diet coke left in this house.

I have loads of weight to lose but after years of yo yo dieting I think that small changes that become positive habits is definitely the way to go.

Love the selfie idea.

Done my 2 litres plus about 5 huge mugs of coffee (normal for me) On my 3rd glass of wine and considering self catherising as it's a long way to the loo from this sofa.Grin
