News of Allen Carr has jolted a few people!! Anyone out there wish to form a "Let smoking Go" club?

OP posts:
Pandorasjarboy · 09/08/2006 13:35

or a nice girlfriend....

on a quick straw pole earlier, we realised that you are the omly one today 'minding the shop'!! No wonder you are busy!...so what do you do for your pains??

Nanou1 · 09/08/2006 13:39

i say anything feeling charitable really!
do you mean what do i do for a living? PA/office Manager. now am going out to get something to eat because i am STARVING!!

Pandorasjarboy · 09/08/2006 20:22

Just had a tour of, and joined, an Esporta gym!! Charlie, Nan: you would have loved it!! Bulging lycra, puffy, red, sweaty faces...tragic!

Yes £20 extra per month, but counting up savings so far... I could have bought the place!!

How are we all diddling? ( apart from the accountants amongst us )

imaginaryfriend · 09/08/2006 22:17

Bleaauurrgghhh ... gym??? you gotta be joking ... I hate everything about them and reckon I get lots of 'normal' exercise scooting round with dd on the bike, walking lots (no car) and generally dancing like a loony in the lounge to entertain dd who fancies herself as a bit of a disco diva.

And no. I haven't quit. Or even got properly near to it. WHY CAN'T I MAKE THE FINAL LEAP??? I'm smoking less than 5 a day, usually 2-3, and I can't somehow give those up. First thing in the morning is one of the worst times. Evenings I can really do without. Someone stick an acupuncture needle into me will you?

Incidentally I'm still working, but only 2 days per week. But then again I haven't quit have I? So it doesn't matter if I'm working or not.

Pandorasjarboy · 10/08/2006 00:45

IF - hello you!! Go read some on whyquit.com..that will reassure you about the first one in the morning...and all of the ones thereafter...

Gyms? Could be just me..but I love'em!! (apart from all the sweating involved from strangers).....have a morning swim booked for 7am..brilliant...lovely to hear from you..having a wonderful week with my girl..tomorrow we go "Over The Hedge" whatever that means...

ZippiZapata · 10/08/2006 06:46

please bear in mind you may not be able to post freely here in future

Panboy · 10/08/2006 16:30

Sorry to say - I lapsed this afternoon. Horrible. Had two fags, and crushed the others. Had to email ex- re some personal business she left behind/undone about which I was called this morning. She replied very politely, and I chose to re-read it a trillion times for any significance... and I just crumbled.
Have done 7.5 days, and not back to square one. Feeling a bit stupid, but had to say, as to not do so means I couldn't post again with any authenticity. They WERE really horrible and I was right to crush them.

Panboy · 10/08/2006 16:31

Quit clock reset to 3pm today.

Hoping all else are fine???

Still breastfeeding, but desperate to stop smoking. Is it my self serving imagination that makes me think patches, inhalers, etc. are a bad idea while still feeding ds? Just looking for excuses I think..., in which case I'm feeding till he's at least 12. Anyone know what the advice is?

Panboy · 10/08/2006 17:48

Hi rickman. Good to know you are feeling so strong. I am not obssessing - just want to quietly get back on track. And back on whyquit. And no, you don't sound awful at all.

Bendi - nothing to offer I'm afraid, apart from urging you to visit whyquit.com, good advice from charliecat.

Off to take dd back and a swim with buddy.

imaginaryfriend · 10/08/2006 18:35

What was that zippizapata post about earlier today??

panboy, jeez you change your name a lot! I think the odd slip-up is part of the process, makes you remember why you're doing it. Just keep your resolve and it won't matter a jot! how was 'Over the Hedge'? Dd loved it, fell totally in love with the tortoise Vern. She now carries a small stuffed Vern with her everywhere and I have to mimic his American voice.

Panboy · 10/08/2006 18:54

imaginaryfriend!!

zippy? Must be inconnection with the legal hooley that's going on - warning was a bit dire and OTT, but what do I know??

Name-change, yes sorry, the LAST one! Was 'bullied' into changing it on another thread - suggested to me that Pandorasjarboy sounded 'seedy'..did have to think why...but, big deal - seediness is in the eye of the beholder!

OVer the hedge - I enjoyed it more than dd did!! But she isn't that spontaneous at making attachments, which is one of my concerns about her...loved the squirrel character!! "No, no caffeine for you!"

Fags, yes not beating myself up at all, just pretty pissed off at still being so vulnerable to ex-.

And Charliecat - best wishes to you for tomorrow. Stay cool and calm.

notasheep · 10/08/2006 20:07

New to this thread

Though Charliecat will remember me

Lapsed again Day One AGAIN tomorrow

Well done to you ALL,i am feeling very envious

Just popping on to give a bit of encouragement, I quit in January and can honestly say that it is the best ever decision I have made.

Keep plugging away at it, as long as you are trying you will get their one day.

imaginaryfriend · 11/08/2006 09:42

Good luck for today, cc!

notasheep I'm, tentatively, (VERY tentatively) telling myself Monday is my DAY ONE. Shall we try to kick Evil Nic together? How many are you smoking / how long, etc.? My sordid tale is further down this thread somewhere. I'm sorely lacking oomph ...

panboy, you have some concerns re. your dd ... Have you started a thread about them elsewhere? If so, post a link on here? In terms of forming attachments I worry about dd with people. If it's a fluffy animal of any variety it's instant love, devoted love, for her. But with people it takes her a REALLY long time, if ever, and when she does she's incredibly possessive about them.

Panboy · 11/08/2006 17:13

have written a message out on paper re dd, and 'edited' in lots - so difficult to achieve brevity on it, and also to be delicate as it does involve dd's mum and I DO NOT want to get any mum's back's up round here, esp. single parent ones....the focus is on how I can improve the situation, rather than herself doing anything different, but she obviously is in the driving seat...will take the plunge this evening after I have taken dd home. I have spoken about it to friends ( female) and they do see the same evidences as I do, so I am sure I am not in cloud-cuckoo land on it. It is about fairly basic communication skills, seemingly dis-associated from what she is doing, and being VERY reserved most of the time.

charliecat · 11/08/2006 22:39

I failed....sigh....was perfect other than a roundabout that my head blanked at and I knew i would fail if i didnt indicate but couldtn think what way i would be indicating and picked the wrong way.
So fecked off wiht myself. Will never have such an easy run again.
Fart.
NOTASHEEP...what are YOU doing here???
What happened.
For all the folks that have fell in the ahstray, get back out of it again right away. Not need to linger in it

imaginaryfriend · 12/08/2006 21:49

Awww ... cc, I failed my driving test 5 times and have been in 'retirement' for some years. Mostly because we can't afford a car anyway!

panboy, you need to put it all down into a thread in the 'behaviour' section I think? And link to it from here and I'll pass some of my expert advice. Not. But I'll try anyhow.

Notasheep ... what do you think of my challenge to quit side by side?

And nobody commented on my Monday as my FIRST QUIT DAY ... I'm going to need more support than that guys!

charliecat · 12/08/2006 21:55

So your quitting on Monday? goooooooodddddddddd:0 Sorry I was so up my own arse yesterday

imaginaryfriend · 12/08/2006 21:59

Are you in Hertfordshire cc? I don't know why I get that impression, but I do ... Have you seen my thread about moving out that way? I'll try to link to it, it's got a bit long, but wondered if you've any advice?

charliecat · 12/08/2006 22:05

Kent, not sooo far away as scotland or something but not that near, havent saw your thread...

imaginaryfriend · 12/08/2006 22:05

here

imaginaryfriend · 12/08/2006 22:06

Why did I think you were in Herts ... Weird ...
