cHECK MY SPELLING FIRS TTHING IN THE MORNING
How you doing panboy? bloody marveloously really

imaginaryfriend · 15/08/2006 18:16

Ok, I've survived so far. It hasn't been absolutely awful although I've had certain moments like the moment of leaving Tesco with the shopping (I usually quaff a little one outside the shop), when dd just sat down now to eat her dinner and I usually nip off for one, so I came on here instead!! Anyone around? I'm over 24 hours now. I know tomorrow and the next day will be tough in terms of physical cravings and then my big battle is going to be, as always, fighting the psychological addiction.

Panboy · 15/08/2006 18:20

Here sweetie! And well done you!! Horrid it can be at first, esp. when those habits of opportunity arise, but as you have done, Total Distraction is your big friend...anything (except violence) is the way...but you know it all fades pretty quickly, don't you??? "Yes I do" is the correct answer...

charliecat · 15/08/2006 18:22

The thing to remember is having one, or even fantasising about one just prolongs the agony.
No no no no
I have got a cancellation for my driving test BTW, sept 2nd.

imaginaryfriend · 15/08/2006 18:24

Yes I do

Actually this getting over the first cravings is intense but feels like such a battle you keep fighting as you can't bear to give in. I've done this SO many times now it's mad. Where I fail is at the point where I start mourning 'smoking my old friend'... Madness I know, but it's my weak point.

imaginaryfriend · 15/08/2006 18:26

Cc you here too, what a treat!! Congrats on your driving test.

charliecat · 15/08/2006 18:26

I wouldnt even entertain the thought on this last quit, i knew if I started to think about it it was the wrong way to be going. The only way to stay off them was to not even let yourself think for asecond thats ones a possibiltity...my spellign...do laugh at it.lol

imaginaryfriend · 15/08/2006 18:29

cc your spelling is part of your charm. Besides they don't make keyboards to fit the average sized paws do they?

Hey what happened to some of the old regulars like FionaGibb, dropinthe and minkmama?

charliecat · 15/08/2006 18:31

FG, havent saw her for AGES. Last time i saw drop she was off them and MM was on them. But this is SERIOUS MONTHS AGO
They might have had names changes.

imaginaryfriend · 15/08/2006 18:37

Ok, dd's bath and hair-grooming session is about to begin so I better get off.

Thanks you and pb for being such good mates as I go through this particular version of hell!

Maybe see you later? xxx

charliecat · 15/08/2006 18:41

Yep, ive discovered The Sims 10 years after the rest of the world and am hogging the pc when I can shove dd1 off

charliecat · 15/08/2006 18:42

Social services came and took away the baby sim and the mum hasnt got out of bed for 3 days.

imaginaryfriend · 15/08/2006 18:57

The Simpsons you mean? You'll never believe me but I haven't actually ever seen an episode just something about when it was on and when I was around. I did get into South Park for a while a few years back ...

Ok dd's going to stab me with her lolly stick if I don't get off.

Bye for now!!!

Panboy · 15/08/2006 19:13

Hi all!

just read back through the whole of this thread...how on EARTH did you put up with me!!!!??? I was like a fire-cracker!!

I think the booze fall-out was largely to blame for that, and it was excellent to read messages from ex-smokers, but you CC have been the constant one. I am counting the full 13 days, and discounting that lapse last week - it was two and I halted it immediatley..am even contemplating ex- without being disturbed.

IF - what nicotine was in your body is now just about gone, and needn't return at all. Someone said (poss. CC) that one needs to think of one's self as an non-smoker and that is what you will be..too true!!

and CC - have you the same design keyboard as everyone else, with the letters in the same places?

charliecat · 15/08/2006 20:19

Har de har har panboy LOL..
you were a bit manic werent you? Bit more chilled now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
The Sims is a pc game, years old now ...you missed the boat too then if you havent heard of it.

Panboy · 15/08/2006 20:35

Bit concerned at the lack of sight of rickman...know she is busy with the wee ones, but hope she isn't staying off for a wrong reason.

charliecat · 15/08/2006 20:35

havent saw her on MN at al actually

FrannyandZooey · 15/08/2006 20:37

Panboy - is this where you slope off to of an evening then?

you are not telling me you have been giving up smoking as well?

you kept ruddy quiet about that one

FrannyandZooey · 15/08/2006 20:38

Ooh - sorry everyone, for the gatecrash

I gave up smoking 4 1/2 years ago, so I feel your pain

charliecat · 15/08/2006 20:39

elbow your way in why dont you

FrannyandZooey · 15/08/2006 20:42

ooh tetchy! Got cravings have we?

FrannyandZooey · 15/08/2006 20:43
charliecat · 15/08/2006 20:44

No cravings at at nearly 2 years off the weed
Wanted man hey!

FrannyandZooey · 15/08/2006 20:45

Oh well done cc

are you the thread counsellor?

charliecat · 15/08/2006 20:46

The thread what LOL....yeah you could call me that..the voice of reason when all the others gather together round an ashtray
