charliecat · 14/08/2006 08:51

you have a weeeiirrrddd idea of fun you do lol

imaginaryfriend · 14/08/2006 11:01

I had my last smoke at 8.30am. Now 11 and am craving already ... sigh ...

charliecat · 14/08/2006 11:26

Ignore it do something, anything else.

imaginaryfriend · 14/08/2006 11:45

I'm at work. I distracted myself by flitting onto your home-from-home cc, ebay!! Do you remember your 3-for-2 scheme last Christmas?

charliecat · 14/08/2006 12:37

I do indeed

Panboy · 14/08/2006 13:31

Hi yous - back from gym...imaginaryfriend! Get distracted, daydream, hit someone, whatever, just don't touch a fag.

imaginaryfriend · 14/08/2006 14:21

Still hanging in. Fortunately / unfortunately I have a cracking headache today so don't feel like smoking as much as I normally would!

Got any new scams planned for this Christmas my clever puss?

imaginaryfriend · 14/08/2006 14:22

Although panboy your mention of the 'g' word makes me want to leap for my packet ...

Panboy · 14/08/2006 14:33

run ANY fags you have under some water..sharn't mention anything of the sort again.....

imaginaryfriend · 14/08/2006 14:38

I was only joking, I haven't really got a pack to hand, I'd be sunk if I did! It's odd the way the cravings come, sometimes they're not there at all, others they feel UNBEARABLE!!!

Panboy · 14/08/2006 14:43

They are bearable, and don't forget, research indicates they only last for two to three mins, then they tend to wear off as the brain understands it isn't getting a blast - they come back, yes, but again only for 2 - 3 mins.....

imaginaryfriend · 14/08/2006 15:10

gosh are you sure only 2-3 minutes? I remember going crazy for at least 30 minutes at a time last time I quit ...

Anyhow, I'm now nearly 7 hours free. Not a lot, but a start!

Panboy · 14/08/2006 15:23

thats what the lit. says, but I guess it depends on how you choose to treat the cravings...max. distractions will ease it, no doubt.....hence my encouragement to a propensity to violence......

imaginaryfriend · 14/08/2006 15:52

Violence is a little hard when stuck behind a computer at work ... And, come to think of it, when being out and about with dd which is what I do most of the time. AND finally I am a very pacifist, vegetarian, non-violent type. Thank you very much.

Panboy · 14/08/2006 15:56

Stuck behind a computer!! Occassionally violence is the only answer!!!

imaginaryfriend · 14/08/2006 16:27

But you know what, I often see smoking as a form of violence. Violence to one's own body at least. Masochistic. IYSWIM?

charliecat · 14/08/2006 17:36

Very. I find im not as tempery as a non smoker. I have no reason to get irritated so i can sulk outside for a fag.
The big thing to remeber is whatever you do DONT SMOKE. That easy guys

imaginaryfriend · 14/08/2006 22:02

Ok, nearly at the end of day one. Phew ... The evening isn't too hard for me as I don't smoke much at this time of day anyway. The morning will be the toughest plus I'm not at work and going to have to be out and about with dd and therefore passing many tempting corner shops. But I feel quietly confident this evening. Niggling horrid craving in my lungs. But also lots of not really thinking about it which I know is a good sign. I think Tues - Thurs will be fairly crucial for me as it'll just be me and dd and we don't have that much on to distract me.

Anyway, whether it works or not, I'm so far on the way!

And cc if I make it this time I really truly cannot EVER go back on it, I've done it WAY too many times now. Pathetic, so cross with myself.

imaginaryfriend · 15/08/2006 09:08

Give me strength!!! I feel like crap this morning, horrible empty head, feel like my chest is empty and itchy but have avoided the morning smoke so far ...

Panboy · 15/08/2006 09:25

strength on it's way!!!

make a plan for today (if someone else hasn't already!) and keep moving, at least mentally, and laugh in the face of any temptation..as a reversal of the Nike advert "Just Don't Do It"!!

imaginaryfriend · 15/08/2006 09:27

I've made some plans to have a friend and her ds over for lunch. But I really need something to kick start me, my fag revs me up for the day ...

Panboy · 15/08/2006 09:31

Fruit juice, a walk round the block, excessive competitive housework....

charliecat · 15/08/2006 09:48

Put some music on and sing your lungs clean IF.
You can do it.
And yes, why on eart would you want to put yourself through this again?
The only wasto get away from them is to leave them firmly in the past....move onnnnnnnnn deep breaths and fresh air
xx
