Gracie, yes I had the shoulder thing. I think it is common, but ask the Rads team, as they should have some exercises/ wisdom on how to help it. Are they going to adjust your Rads now the skin's breaking down? I had a Bolus (makes the rays come closer to the skin surface), so they stopped using that for the last few zaps. 16's good going. What's your end date? We must celebrate. Smile

JustFabulous · 22/10/2012 13:01

Shock just got back to a letter and the doctor called me "slim."

This morning got really really bad and dh came home. He is booked to see the gp this afternoon now as he has a stomach ulcer that has not responded to treatment and is now having chest pains as he is so stressed with work and home life.

Having kids is amazing but it has really wiped us both out.

smee · 22/10/2012 13:05

Shock Fab. Your poor DH. Hope he can get signed off for a bit and get sorted quickly. Sounds like you both need some tlc.

KurriKurri · 22/10/2012 14:23

Sitting on paranoia box for Gig and all who need the lid kept firmly shut (might throw myself into that category as the sore shoulder I have had for weeks doesn't seem to respond to anything, and I'm now getting slightly Hmm about it)

Fab - poor DH, hope they can find something to sort out his ulcer - must be very painful. But well done on 'slim' - clearly you are as doctors usually call you me overweight even if you are just nicely covered Grin

Love 'tremendous fog' - sounds like the start of a Sherlock Holmes story.

MAS - Italian treats are a must, make sure you have plenty of stuff to relax with while he's away, and know that T will be having a great time. DD went on a school trip to Italy and enjoyed it so much.

gracie - uggh to skin breaking down - that is very sore, but you are getting through the rads, can't be too many left now.

amber - I'm not on FB so don't know your troubles, but sending loads of and love, - take care lovely xx

Baskets - hope the maths book turned up eventually, and hope you are feeling better soon.

waving to Smee and jane - don't work too hard either of you, and I'll have a Brew please if there's one going. lemon and poppy seed muffins on FBS trolley (for goodness sake stop me scoffing them)

JustFabulous · 22/10/2012 15:12

DH at doctor's now.

MaryAnnSingleton · 22/10/2012 15:27

fingers crossed for Mr fab
Poor gracie - hope it isn't too sore or uncomfortable.
Am feeling a bit yuck -but some fresh air might help-am walking S home after her drama club and that's quite a trek -want to work when I get back, but might just sit on the sofa !

OP posts:
JustFabulous · 22/10/2012 16:47

Meds for MrFab and he has been signed off work for 2 weeks.

He didn't mention the chest pains so I have told him off for that.

KurriKurri · 22/10/2012 17:14

Oh that's good Fab - I'm glad he's been given something, -and two weeks off will probably do him the power of good. (but yes, naughty not to mention his chest pains, I would give him grief for that too.)

MAS on the sofa with you, - honestly it is better to go with it when you are tired, or you will just end up even more shattered.

KurriKurri · 22/10/2012 17:15

Oh does anyone want some veggie sausage casserole? - I seem for some reason to have made enough for about 60 people ConfusedGrin

Gigondas · 22/10/2012 17:39

Thanks for all turns in box - given there is little muscle there ( I smiled in recognition at your story smee) and have discussed stiff muscles before I suspect am being paranoid.

Glad dh got new drugs but naughty not to mention chest pain fab.

kurriGrin at huge casserole.

mas ask t to bring you back some pocket espresso as they are lovekyGrin.

Right survived (but needed a lie down) the three visitors for dd (incl rude mum who made a comment about how dh buys toys to spoil big gig- was joking ref to fact she knows dh as a "boss" in her division at work. I just put it down as crass and inappropriate ). Now how do I get rid of mad nanny- big gig loving her visit... Me not so much (3 hours and counting..)

smee · 22/10/2012 18:27

Hurl some casserole this way, Kurri. We have friends over tonight and I can't be arsed to cook How's your back?? Is it okay now?

MAS, Kurri's right. I think it's a fine line I think, as making yourself get up and go sometimes works well, but if you're tired you need the sofa and some tlc.

Fab, why didn't he mention the chest pains? Is he in denial or just sure it's stress? Silly though. If he keeps having them, send him back.

Gig, you are being paranoid, but I'm not one to talk. You'll feel better this time tomorrow am sure. Just be blunt with mad Nanny. She deserves it. Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 22/10/2012 18:35

casserole sounds yum and very soothing !
Glad Mr fab has some time off and meds- but yes, naughty not to mention chest pain.
Has mad nanny gone yet ?I think she should take the hint...
but then she's mad..
The fresh air was good and the walk- told S I couldn't face the toy shop but we bought some cold drinks and her kind dad drove me home when he got back.

jchocchip · 22/10/2012 19:03

In from work and ds cooked chicken fajitas for tea - but now its time for the guides run. and again later for pickup. So that Wine will have to wait...

mrfab will probably feel much better just having the stress of work taken away.

mas sounds like sofa time for you.

amberlight · 22/10/2012 19:27

'evening all!
Yes, I've been having a rubbish time over the weekend, but today has been an improvement.I would describe it as 'very rude individual - now sorted, hopefully' and 'disastrous meal out in which food was inedible'.

Ooo look, Wine to go with the casserole! Ideal.

JustFabulous · 22/10/2012 19:46

MrFab said the chest pains were just stress. I will be keeping a very close eye on him. Work is so stressful atm and has been for a long time. It has all just got too much with the kids being so difficult too.

graciesmall09 · 22/10/2012 19:53

Glad mrfab got to the drs and got signed off. Probably just what both of you need but naughty for not mentioning the chest pains although that could be stress related (here speaketh Dr Gracie).

amber sounds like your weekend was a bit stressful too but glad you are feeling better.

gigs hope mad nanny has taken the hint.

mas please take it easy and chill on the sofa until you feel better.

smee I will mention tomorrow about the shoulder pain although good to know it is common.

Hope everyone keeping ok. Still no word from pink hope she is ok.

otm how are you feeling this week?

KurriKurri · 22/10/2012 20:08

I'm glad you all helped with the casserole - but there is still a lot left. I'm warning you - it stays on the trolley until it's all gone Grin

amber that sounds like a bad w/e - hope all is well now.

Smee - back is on the mend I think, - much better than it was, but I'm feeling a bit cautious about doing things that might set it off again.

Hopefully MrFab will be able to relax a bit away from work for the next couple of weeks.

having my hair cut tomorrow, but not coloured this time (can only afford that occasionally!) - but the colour has held up pretty well, it may well be grey at the roots though - we shall see tomorrow.

smee · 23/10/2012 09:55

Happy hair, Kurri. Hope it is. While you're out, we'll eat the rest of the casserole. Smile

Amber, sounds like a horrendous time. Curl up on the virtual sofa with us and we'll soothe your furrowed brow.

Hope MrFab and fab are all cosy and recuperating together. Having said that, I know my DH would be like a bear with a sore head if it was him, but hope MrFab isn't similar. Grin

Gracie, hope they can help you with the shoulder pain today.

MAS, how are you today? I hope not still feeling sick. xx

Thinking of you all day Gig, though I know the appt's this afternoon. Is mad Nanny still on the sofa?? Grin

Sometimesiwonder · 23/10/2012 10:22

Hi Guys

Sorry I'm not around much at the moment but I wanted to hare a link with you all that i found very moving - the picture is beautiful, but read the story as well.....

www.vancouversun.com/health/Mastectomy+patients+bare+breast+cancer+awareness/7373257/story.html

Much love x

MaryAnnSingleton · 23/10/2012 10:23

hope hair cut goes well kk and lots of good thoughts to gig
smee - not feeling sick, just a bit down and tired - bloody hands sore too. Grrr - the amount of work is a bit daunting.

OP posts:
Sometimesiwonder · 23/10/2012 10:24

Share, not 'hare'. That would be weird.

Gigondas · 23/10/2012 11:04

Mad nanny finally went when dh got in (magic bit was when she was fishing for compliments and dh said how much better new nanny is). We had a lot of I miss old nanny from big gig (when has barely mentioned her Hmm) last night but all normal today.

Am very nervous about onc appt but that much is normal.

So trying to do various household jobs before my dad arrives for a visit (prob not best timing as well meaning though he is cheery he isn't).

Sometimesiwonder · 23/10/2012 11:19

Good luck, Gig!

smee · 23/10/2012 11:27

Sometimes, those photos/ stories are fantastic. Thanks for posting the link. I have two mis-shapen implants, no nipples, frankenstein type scars and find it v.hard to look at myself or embrace the new me. V.empowering to read about others/ see how they're seeing themselves.

Gig, your DH sounds priceless. Grin Hope your dad isn't too gloomy. You're right, at least he's a distraction. Here for hand holding all afternoon. xx

amberlight · 23/10/2012 11:42

Gig, standing by with virtual Brew and any needed hugs.

That photo is amazing and very beautiful. It's the physical stuff after cancer that can be so 'eek', I think. OK, I have both boobs, but I have enough scars to play a game of draughts on, and all the extra weight still to lose, and hair that still resembles Hair Bear in full frizz mode instead of the lovely longer hair I had...and you do end up feeling urk. Thank goodness for dh who loves me just as I am.
