Hello everyone,

Been directed here by MaryAnn. Happy to meet others in the same boat and sad that we are all in it!

I started on the tamox last month, have had this weird rash come up recently. Just wondered if anyone else had similar. It's a bit like eczema and dry skin, but not.

I will read this in detail later and get to know you all :)

invicta · 05/10/2012 08:56

Happy Birthday Topsy and Tim, sorry Gigs. Virtual flowers and champagne to you both.

SometimeIwonder - I can imagine that Radiotherapy must be torture if you have back problems. I always get an itchy nose at the beginning, which is bad enough. Actually, the first time I saw the machine and got into position, I thought it reminded me of a torture device, or something from an S and M parlour, not that I have ever visited one!

I hope today brings more comfort to you MAS and Grace.

Anyone heard from Pink? When I first found this thread, she seemed to be posting alot and going through a hard time. Unless I've missed it, I've not see anything since. Cyber hugs to you if you are reading this. You are in our thoughts.

Time to do some hoovering and then to go and see the nice young (and not so young) men in the radiotherapy department.

Sometimesiwonder · 05/10/2012 09:45

Happy birthday to Gigs and Topsy with lots of Wine and Thanks for you both. xx

MAS - you are doing really, really well. Just keep remembering to breathe deeply and slowly, and your week off the stuff will soon be here.

MotownMummy - welcome from me. As regards the rash, it doesn't sound exactly familiar, but I think drier skin is quite normal with tamoxifen. But ask the hosp if you have any worries about anything, it's not worth it to sit and worry. That gives it too much headspace when you could be doing more positive stuff. That's the reason why I am very useless on this thread, I know nothing because i refused to take much in at the time Grin

Have a decent day on the torture machine Invicta - it brings me out in a bit of a sweat to think of it, though I'd probably be much better now, as I have been another drain on the NHS and had my spine bolted together since then Hmm

Sometimesiwonder · 05/10/2012 09:46

Oh - and no, you haven't missed Pink, she has gone quiet, and i am worried about her, too Sad She is very lovely and I miss her.

MaryAnnSingleton · 05/10/2012 11:03

welcome motown !!
Yes, was thinking of pink this morning - v worrying, but maybe she is just not feeling like posting.
Lots of love to those be radiated today and having birthdays...am off to get my flu jab moved to my week off chemo and to talk to my hairdresser about hair colour (as advised by bcn) (am feeling a bit funny about having to say what's what to hairdresser, she's v nice indeed and her mum has had bc)
I think i'll buy some more guinness and some crisps for later !

Hiya Mowtown . Not had tamoxifen myself so can't help you with that one .
But welcome !

Mas my FIL (retired GP) swears by the medicinal values of a glass of the black stuff !
So enjoy Grin

Aaagh , get off the bloody computer and get samosa folding Topsy ...

Gigondas · 05/10/2012 11:09

Welcome motown and good thoughts for those frying today Wink.

I hope pink will be back when she is ready.

My hairdresser was really lovely when chatted to her about it so may not be as bad as you fear- and crisps and beer sound way forward.

Dh teasing me about night out tonight (keeps saying we are going dancing - that makes a trip to blood donors with otm dh look good). otm am also resting here.

KurriKurri · 05/10/2012 11:10

Morning all - I am here because I skived off keep fit class Blush Will have to force myself to do housework instead.

Happy Birthday topsy and Gigs - Thanks Wine BiscuitBiscuitBiscuit Brew and [balloons] and have a lovely day both Smile

Chuck us a samosa topsy Grin

MAS - I love those pictures you did for Gigs, - totally fab, especially the little Gigs playing with the playmobil Smile - you are a very talented lady.

Hello MotownMummy, and welcome to the threadSmile - I'm not sure about your rash, - might be worth ringing the GP or BCN, - I know I felt itchy when I first started taking tamox. and definitely had several odd aches and twinges in the first few months of it, but don't recall an actual rash. (although as others said skin very sensitive after treatment, - did you have chemo? - my skin has never been the same since that and rads, have to use lots of moisturizer, and I get eczema patches on my hands which I never had before)

OTM - that Blood donor outing sounds a lark and a half Grin - maybe you could be busy reading the Radio Times instead!

Good luck for todays rads invicta and gracie, waving to Ned - are you marking the countdown to collection of the Nedmobile?

Waving to Sometimes - I've been in and out so much this week, I don't feel as if I've chatted to you or Smee much - but you know I luffs you Grin

Dearest Pink, - if you read the thread, we are all thinking of you and care about you. Much love K xx

Sometimesiwonder · 05/10/2012 11:22

Ah, KK, I do indeed xx

MaryAnnSingleton · 05/10/2012 11:29

where are you going gig ??

OP posts:
Sometimesiwonder · 05/10/2012 12:01

I'm glad you asked that, I thought I'd missed it somehow Blush

smee · 05/10/2012 12:14

Wine Thanks for Topsy and Gig. HAPPY BIRTHDAY !! Topsy, forget the samosas, where's the cake?? And Gig, how's 40 feeling? I seem to remember quite liking it finally arriving. Was a while ago now though, so can barely remember..

Hi motown, yes I had a rash. I took an antihistamine for a while. Just Boots one a day non drowsy. Used E45 too. It went quite quickly. Something to do with the hormones shutting down, so your skin drying up I think. I get the eczema thing on the hands too. Anyway, nice to meet you. Smile

MAS, that picture's fantastic. I do so love your work. DH has your pic of him and Ninja on his board in pride of place. he shows everyone who comes round. Smile

Ned, when's the shiny new car arriving?

OTM, your DH sounds a true romantic. Grin

luffs you too, Kurri. And you Sometimes.

Waving to all. Loads to do..

Sometimesiwonder · 05/10/2012 12:27

Mwah, smee xx

I've got loads to do too. Haven't struck a serious blow for 2 days now, though. Just can't get into it.

smee · 05/10/2012 12:28

Me neither, Sometimes. I have a Monday deadline on something which I've barely started. Shock

smee · 05/10/2012 12:38

Have just remembered, but walking some kids to Judo last night. One girl was moaning as she has to wear a t-shirt under the judo kit and boys don't. She said everyone's got breasts, so one of the boy said men don't. She said yes you do, you've got nipples look - everyone's got nipples. DS said no they don't. Lots of niggling, then he yelled back to me - "MUM TELL HER YOU'VE GOT NO NIPPLES." We were walking along the High Street. Was very funny.. Grin

Sometimesiwonder · 05/10/2012 12:42

Shock ooh, depressing Sad

I don't have any pressing deadlines just yet, just a sort of knowledge that there's a load of stuff here that someone is going to want an update on - and soon. I think that's my problem, no actual imminent pressure. If I cant get into it soon I may go and iron Shock as penance

Sometimesiwonder · 05/10/2012 12:43

Ah no, cross post, the nipple story is well funny. Grin

SparkleRainbow · 05/10/2012 13:02

Grin @ Smee's nipple story!

Happy Birthday Topsy and Gig!

topsyturner · 05/10/2012 13:06

Samosas and Bhajis done and on the fbs trolley .
Look very nice too , even if I say so myself Grin

There's a lot of luff floating around this board this morning .
You are all henceforth ordered to cease and desist immediately Grin

Cooking done , housework done , laundry done , can now relax and start the birthday celebrations .
Is it too early for birthday wine ? Hmm
