I'm at work (on my lunch) Wouldn't quite count it as exciting, 'tho I did cycle in this morning and survived despite the best efforts of a mini driving in the bus/cycle lane...

Having a Brew then back to those reports...

KurriKurri · 11/04/2012 15:00

Afternoon all. I went to yoga this morning then to a friend's eightieth birthday where I ate lots of buffet things and birthday cake Grin

Then I drove home DH thought I was going to go into a ditch when I stopped so he flapped like a big girl, he's such a wuss

Hope you enjoyed the NCT group Gig, and everyone else is coping with their rock and roll lifestyles Grin

topsy I do yoga, so yes fat unsupple birds can do it Grin - it's very relaxing.

graciesmall09 · 11/04/2012 15:38

kurri you have had a busy day. Birthday buffet sounds lovely (hope you saved some cake for the trolley Grin)

Think I have forgotten what exciting means, unless dusting, hoovering and ironing count (which I very much doubt). These teenage years are killing me. DS1 just had a major meltdown because, as per usual, he left his xbox earphones at his backside and furball ate them. Reckon this is the 5th set that stupid mutt has disintegrated. Of course it was everybodies fault but DS1.

Made my appointment for wig fitting for next Monday. Please someone tell me I'm not going to look like some mad old dear with a bad hair day. Have ordered a couple of bandanas to be on the safe side. Looked at the Buffs, they look good so might try one of those as well Blush can't work out how you put them on though.

KurriKurri · 11/04/2012 15:46

Oh yes cake for trolley Grin - it is rather nice lemon cake, with pale green icing and primroses iced on it.

KurriKurri · 11/04/2012 15:49

I never had a wig gracie, -I just went down the hat and bandana route, but friends of mine who did go for wigs, always looked pretty good - I wouldn't have known they were wigs if i didn't know them.

So I don't think you'll look like a mad old dear (unless you wear your wig back to front of course Grin)

MaryAnnSingleton · 11/04/2012 15:54

amber always looks amazing in hers !

OP posts:
Sometimesiwonder · 11/04/2012 16:00

Gracie, I never wore my wig, but I know that most of the ones I saw in the hospital were absolutely undetectable. It does help if you wear them straight, of course. Other than that, the ready tied scarves are very good, you can't go wrong.

Hello all, I have been working like a dog, but have now got to a place where I can't get anything else done before i go away, so it seems pointless starting. And everyone knows i am going so they are being nice and not hassling Smile

graciesmall09 · 11/04/2012 16:07

sometimes housework can wait.

Just hope I'm not wasting my money on a wig. Nearly fainted when she told me the price. I really hate anything on my head, even when the snow is lying deep I still can't wear a hat but really don't think the Kojak look will be a good one on me. ah well we shall see.

amberlight · 11/04/2012 16:11

Gracie, try the Rene Amore collection. I use their Summer style, which is amazingly natural, I think.

topsyturner · 11/04/2012 16:11

gracie are you going to Tresses for your wig ? They really are pushy and expensive . Ask them why you are not being offered your free wig as you are having treatment for cancer ?
It's not means tested or income related , we are all entitled to it .
But Tresses are reknown for not telling people this !

KurriKurri · 11/04/2012 16:13

Hello Sometimes, nice to see you - where are you off to on Friday? Have fun Smile - don't do housework, paint your nails and eat chocolate

Sometimesiwonder · 11/04/2012 16:16

No easy answer I fear, Gracie. I wasn't going to buy one but the BCN and my Mum persuaded me. They did it with the best of intentions but it stayed in its bag, even when I had business meetings. I'm like you, don't like the feel. The scarves are very comfy though, once you get used to them. And you'll be in them in the summer, which means you won't feel cold. My top tip would be to wear ones that are a similar depth of colour to your own hair - ie wear nice colours and patterns by all means, but if you are fair, wear lighter colours, and if you are dark wear deeper ones. Other people may say different, but my hair is almost black and I looked a bit odd in light ones, in retrospect. (Think dodgy bleach job)

Sometimesiwonder · 11/04/2012 16:19

Cross posted - a lot!

Off to North Cornwall, as always. Can't wait. I must say, nail painting and chocolate eating sounds eminently preferable! Smile

Agree with Topsy - don't let them do you out of a free/cheap wig. I had to pay a bit for mine but it was subsidised. I think I had to pay about £60. Still a total waste of dish, as it turns out Hmm but not nearly as bad as it might be.....

Sometimesiwonder · 11/04/2012 16:20

Clearly that should be dosh, not dish. Can't waste a dish, may need to put something fattening in it.

MaryAnnSingleton · 11/04/2012 17:07

I like a waste of dish sometimes - lovely to see you and really hope that you have a fab time and that the weather is kind.
Dh update- he has emailed work and it seems he is ok for the time being (as he has something to work on when he gets back) anyway, he seems a little easier about it- crikey though,it's unnerving.

KurriKurri · 11/04/2012 17:10

North Cornwall - lovely Smile - hope you get good weather Sometimes.

That's good about DH's work MAS - I hope he feels a bit better about things now.

graciesmall09 · 11/04/2012 17:17

mas that is good news about DH job. One less thing to worry about.

sometimes Cornwall sounds lovely. Always wanted to go but never quite made it. I do worry I am wasting money £175 I was quoted and seemingly that is cost price. I have ordered a couple of scarves/bandanas near my hair colour so hope they are ok.

topsy no was advised not to go to Tresses. Am going to the Macmillan Centre. Think his name is Seamus. Sounded really nice but they did say I wasn't covered as my treatment is with Bupa. Seemingly I will be covered for one when I have my radiotherapy but that is at least 6 months away. Oh don't know what to do now.

amber will have a look at that collection now, thanks

amberlight · 11/04/2012 17:28

www.naturalwigs.co.uk/by-collection/amore-wigs Don't know that particular supplier, but that shows the range

topsyturner · 11/04/2012 17:31

I would check with bupa then Gracie , as a wig is covered on the nhs I can't see why private healthcare wouldn't include it too ?

graciesmall09 · 11/04/2012 17:41

topsy unfortunately bupa have already stated it isn't covered.

Thanks amber will check out that link now.

topsyturner · 11/04/2012 17:55

That's harsh isn't it gracie ? Can't get it from either side ?

graciesmall09 · 11/04/2012 18:00

I know topsy but suppose I have to be thankful though if I didn't get bupa through work I definitely couldn't afford it but like everything swings and roundabouts. Don't think radiotherapy will be through bupa so I will be covered for a wig then. Don't think bupa cover mouthwashes, etc. either. That will all have to be via the GP.

MaryAnnSingleton · 11/04/2012 18:08

sounds very confusing - hope you can get it sorted one way or the other gracie and that you get a handsome wig like amber's (which looks v natural from what I've seen)
Btw- have done a foolish thing,possibly- have maybe rather outed myself in the big wide world by starting a blog - partly illustration/partly OCD and no doubt a bit of bc thrown in - am hoping it's therapeutic and that it won't frighten people away...would you check out my first post please ? I know that amber writes a lot about her autism and it seems a good thing to do,to be open. Anyway, here it is

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 11/04/2012 18:41

MAS - the blog is a great idea, I think it will be very therapeutic - thumbs up Smile
