OP posts:
topsyturner · 21/04/2012 22:43

You are all very funny !
It's not all orange men , just the odd one or two .
Definitely Dickinson or the Creosoted one who Lurves His Kids So Much !
Grin

topsyturner · 21/04/2012 22:43

That was obviously meant to read "definitely not "

KurriKurri · 21/04/2012 22:45

I am calling freudian slip on your typo topsy Grin

topsyturner · 21/04/2012 23:44

Noooo I do not luff the orange men !

smee · 21/04/2012 23:59

The lady doth protest too much methinks.. Grin

Gigondas · 22/04/2012 10:06

Just think of the fun you could have going to car boot sales antique fairs with big d

topsyturner · 22/04/2012 10:14

I have just realised that stating "I love Orange Men" has a totally different meaning here in Belfast !

Grin
Gigondas · 22/04/2012 10:31

Grin I also thought that.
I have a mate at work from Belfast. He once said totally seriously that hadnt ever seen a pub fight but had seen a few riots .

topsyturner · 22/04/2012 10:46

Tis all very complicated over here Gig , I have more than once stopped conversation by saying something completely inappropriate !
But heh , I've only lived here 18 years Grin

Gigondas · 22/04/2012 10:48

I think that's why my friend moved over here about same time - says he doesn't miss it.

Nice day here today

NedSchneebly · 22/04/2012 13:51

Afternoon lovelies. Having a post lunch Brew - anyone else interested?

Interested to follow the debate about orange-hued men. Definitely do not do it for me, I'm afraid. You are welcome to them topsy !

see Hanover got deleted. What rules did she break? Just curious. . .

Gigondas · 22/04/2012 13:59

I will have a Brew and a fbs. How is your mouth feeling ned?

Dunno but I did notice one odd thing - that book she kept referencing (and seemed to mention everywhere) hasn't actually been published in this country yet Confused

smee how is work going?

I am being so lazy today - between period pain and fat baby related back ache , I am done in.

NedSchneebly · 22/04/2012 14:11

Hey gig sorry about aches and pains. Went for a long walk with a mate from work today, and have rather knackered myself out. Mouth better thanks - difflam worked its green magic! Gritty eyes better too, thank goodness.

Perhaps she's overseas? Or the author of the book??!

MaryAnnSingleton · 22/04/2012 14:43

probably was the author or promoting it in some way- not really a helpful poster on a thread like this, though I think we stood our ground well enough.
Brew would be lovely thanks Ned - am about to do some more work.
Went to ask dad to help me mount a picture and he was trying to get mum seated for lunch- takes ages for her to manouevre- he seemed a bit fraught, understandably.

The picture is for my BIL's 60th and I think my SIL is a bit annoyed that I put it on facebook and that other people have seen it before him. I never do this until clients have seen their pictures first, but this is my present to him so I think I can do what I like (he isn't on fb) It's already got me another commission too.

KurriKurri · 22/04/2012 16:30

Yes I suspect Hanover had a book to flog - could it have been the 'Cancer Survivor's Bible' by any chance? Wink I checked some her other posts and they were all saying the same thing (i.e. plugging this book) - but hey better to assume people are genuine then get caught out, than call 'promoter' right from the start IMO. When it comes to this thread I know everyone is sensible enough not to be swayed by this kind of thing. But I worry a bit about people who are very vulnerable, or in the panic of first DX being influenced by total bullshit the alternative argument.

topsy's treat for the day (you know I'm not going to stop posting these don't you topsy? Grin)

Figgyroll · 22/04/2012 16:41

Afternoon all - gloriously sunny where we are. Smile

I was wondering about Hanover's post as never saw the orginal. I think your replies were all very well thought out but to to the point. No good pussy-footing around where cancer's concerned. Definitely sounds like a 'book promotion'.

Topsy, I can imagine you getting into all sorts of bovver with mention of Orange Men. Grin

Ned, glad the Difflam did the trick. I got awful mouth ulcers and the like.

Gig, put your feet up for the rest of the day. You deserve it.

MAS, SIL is being a pain if she's moaning about YOUR present. Shall we pop round with a wet fish? Grin

I will forgo any Brew on offer thanks. I am 'testing' the Aldi own-brand version of Pimms, which is often recommended as a great alternative to the real (and expensive) thing. My bottle only cost a fiver and tbh I can't tell the difference. I think I will stock up for the summer months.

Scar has healed over again but I'm still playing safe with a dressing and a wadge of gauze stuck between dressing and bra to stop rubbing.

I hope the weather stays as it is for tomorrow - I'm off on a school trip to the zoo. I love the zoo and know it will be fun whatever the weather but sunshine would be the icing on the cake.

Big waves to everyone.

Any appointments coming up for next week?

Figgyroll · 22/04/2012 16:48

Just as I pressed 'post' the sky went as black as anything and we had thunder/lightning. It's now hailstoning. I think I spoke too soon when I mentioned 'gloriously sunny'.

MaryAnnSingleton · 22/04/2012 17:28

figgy think SIL just likes being in charge..never mind.
The Sainsbury's Pimms-alike is very good too - I can't tell the difference. I always used to think you had to add extra gin to Pimms when I first made it - still, no one complained.
Have done some work and ironed, cleaned the fluff out of the tumble dryer condenser and am now going to meditate.
Glad your scar has healed over, but grr that it's still troublesome figgy

OP posts:
topsyturner · 22/04/2012 17:33

Now that's my kinda man kk Grin

topsyturner · 22/04/2012 17:34

And I'm also sulking as we don't have Aldi over here so I can't taste test their Pimms Wink

Figgyroll · 22/04/2012 17:52

I'll have another taster on your behalf Topsy. Wink hic

How are you getting on with the jogging programme? I mentioned to my doctor about following the Couch25K programme and how much my poor feet were aching and he really didn't think it was a good idea bearing in mind my weight and previous joint problems. He's recommended swimming instead (although I might give aqua aerobics a go) or just good old plain fast walking. A friend recommended a mini tampoline (I think they're called 'rebounders') as they're excellent for all sorts of shapes and sizes, don't damage joints and I'm thinking of getting one. So I only managed two sessions of jogging but at least I gave it a go - my poor feet bones still ache though.

Gigondas · 22/04/2012 17:54

Can't you just use buck fast wine instead topsy? Not sure where our nearest aldi is .

mas it does sound like sil being irrational .

figgy that is annoying about wound but think you are right to be careful. Obviously I know it's a tricky area to buy for but are ther softer bras or anything with no seams in area?

I completely agree that hanover could have upset the more vulnerable that post - the constant book refs were strange but each to their own

Oh and I have scan tuesday and possibly radio therapy on weds - but have some new stress coping ideas for that but will prob still need good luck and a seat on paranoia box.

And cannot post without this something for the laydees

Gigondas · 22/04/2012 17:55

Swimming is dull figgy but I quite like walking (am also not a jogger).

Who else is watching the voice later?

topsyturner · 22/04/2012 18:08

Not doing well at all on the jogging front . But I am walking 3 days a week , just can't do the jogging without my lungs threatening to explode !

Mmmmm a nice big bottle of Bucky !
I am in Ireland not Scotland !
Grin

topsyturner · 22/04/2012 18:10

Shall be watching the Voice later .
But the end of it clashes with Silent Witness and the new series of Vera .
