OP posts:
jchocchip · 13/04/2012 18:43

kk our council has paid for an online theory test practice site which people can input their library number to use. Topsy well done on the cleaning -arf at nose art. We have cat muddy paw art on the window sills... dds haven't done their rooms but dd2 has cooked tea, yum

KurriKurri · 13/04/2012 18:44

topsy - grr about the wait, - that's not very good is it?

Grin at pig/dog's nose art.

gracie - not very impressed with your BCN either, the ones here usually phone back on the same day.

Good luck to DS for his driving test amber, - is it his first go at it? - I'm sure I'll be very nervous when it comes to doing mine.

Good to hear more drugs being approved, - I know someone on here was on atrial for Avastin - was it Figgy? - Or it might have been someone I know in RL (told you my memory was rubbish Grin)

Now I have to look up Moldies, as I need to know what they look like Grin

KurriKurri · 13/04/2012 18:44

That sounds a great idea jane - I'll see if they've got the same thing in our library Smile

topsyturner · 13/04/2012 18:58

They are lovely ladies gracie , just very badly understaffed . Last week due to sickness and holidays , they only had 1 BCN on for the whole of Belfast !
They are normally in the City Hospital on Tuesdays .
Try phoning your consultants secretary , she might be able to tell you your results , or put you onto who ever is covering your consultants hols .

topsyturner · 13/04/2012 19:06

Oh and moldies are football boots with sort of moulded studs on them , and they can be flipping expensive !
Luckily DS hates football so we got away with a cheap pair !
(I anticipate they will stink after 2 or 3 wearings Grin )

OneInEight · 13/04/2012 19:20

Hi all, glad to say temperature behaved itself and escaped from hospital this afternoon. Armed with antibiotics but hopefully all under control. Gracie - so annoying when people give you the expectation they will get back to you quickly then don't. We have a lady at work who assures you nothing is too much trouble when you see her but then never responds to messages - aargh - hope the nurses get back to you early next week. Topsy - agree harsh words are needed - that is not good enough. Amber - good to hear there are new drugs being approved - did you see horizon on Tuesday - not breast cancer relevant but a really exciting new drug for melanoma secondaries. Gives you hope that new drugs are around the corner.

KurriKurri · 13/04/2012 19:27

Yay for escaping OneInEight Smile take things easy.

I saw that Horizon programme - it was fascinating, and the melanoma drug looks like a brilliant breakthrough for that particular cancer. I've heard of the cyber knife, - I think it has been in use in some other countries, but again it looks like a brilliant machine.

graciesmall09 · 13/04/2012 19:37

Yay oneineight Glad your temperature is behaving itself and you are safely home. How many more chemo sessions do you have?

topsy my consultant is due back from holiday tomorrow I think, so hopefully I will get my results beginning of the week. I am at hospital on Monday having my picc line in so I will be asking whoever will listen to me Grin.

Wine anyone.

graciesmall09 · 13/04/2012 19:38

I missed the Horizon programme. Noticed it too late. Wonder if it will be repeated,

Figgyroll · 13/04/2012 19:39

Hi all, just had a quick catchup but can't stay long as just about to go out.

I had Avastin as a trial drug alongside normal chemo. The Trails Nurse had seen some amazing results and was pleased I got on the trial. I know they use it for other types of cancer too, with excellent results so it's good to hear it's been approved.

Scar is still playing up but have a new supply of dressings. I am wearing my softie today in the hope that the weight wont cause as much rubbing. I hope it clears up for my holiday next month.

New M&S mx cossie arrived today and it fits beautifully - nice and high at the front, comfy straps and back and a nice fit round the tops of legs. I just need a falsy to stick in it now. I will look on line but I remember someone mentioning padding it out with those shower scrunchie things as they hold the water so well and wont deteriorate. Was it someone from here?

Will try and do a proper catchup tomorrow.

Lots of choc digestives for the trolley.

Gigondas · 13/04/2012 19:40

Yay for oneineight - glad you are home.

Topsy and gracie that's pants re Bcn and recall. Am afraid from experience with mc etc I don't let anything go and hassle a lot but you shouldn't bloody have to (appt for baby issues stuff no better - I had to wait ages for post morton results going half Mad it was genetic).*

amber how is dh Doing tonight? Poor thing.

Have cyber knife at hospital where I had op but no idea what it is. I think it's great so much can be done (and to take a leaf from amber a lot can be done) but prefer not to do too much cancer reading/watching.

Oh and wound ok (swelling I worry about is muscular) - rads all remeasured . Now The small matter of getting consultant to approve the new zap plan (not a big job I theory but we know from this thread that they operate in another time zone).

kurri your plastic surgery is same day as my next scan (looks at topsy to hold her hand).

Loving the animal cleaning story. Dh wants a puppy next year- I am not sure as 1. Not big on decisions til rad/scan done 2. We have two small kids- not sure puppy easy mix 3. I love dogs but remember they are work (basically its like another toddler but they don't grow up). Think dh has forgotten this.

Wine , pâté and chocolate for all as supermarket delivery today (I also have a job lot of bananas going as someone went mad on order).

gracie nanny Is back and seems fine so normal service resumed. ned waves and good luck tomorrow.

Talking of which any tips for grand national?

Gigondas · 13/04/2012 19:42

Fight cross posts- was about to ask about wound. Sending you healing vibes and hoping taking it easy helps.

Gigondas · 13/04/2012 19:42

Figgy not fight Blush

Figgyroll · 13/04/2012 19:43

Gracie, would love a Wine thank you.

Gigondas · 13/04/2012 19:44

Have you got iplayer gracie as on there

amberlight · 13/04/2012 22:01

DH alright today thanks - well, as alright as any man can be with a 3 in hole in his back and a ton of dressings stopping it rebleeding.

Yes please for Wine

Cyberknife is a radiotherapy machine that is intelligent and capable of targeting cancer very very precisely, in areas of the body that are otherwise really hard to treat/in ways that zap cancer much more effectively in many cases. V expensive.

Gigondas · 13/04/2012 22:07

I knew you would know lance Armstrong amber Wink. It's comforting to know there are these options .

Gigondas · 13/04/2012 22:08

What is dh been told to stop bleeding? Presimably rest and keep dressings on?

amberlight · 13/04/2012 22:26

DH has some amazing set of dressings in a particular order. All very technical. But apparently it should mean the wound can drain and heal properly. Yup, nothing too silly for a few days.

Gigondas · 13/04/2012 22:27

Hopefully that should sort it (and have discovered now there isn't tmi on wounds). So I suppose when I ask what weekend plans are, it could be quiet.

amberlight · 13/04/2012 22:30

Quiet?? What is this word? What can it mean?! He might be having a quiet weekend, but mine will include a garden centre visit with a friend, a concert in the evening, then a grand spectacular with some Bishops on Sunday. That'll keep me out of mischief.

jchocchip · 14/04/2012 09:23

no idea on tips for the grand national, but I picked rare bob in the sweepstake...

mmmm bananas, gig.

must get up, I have a Brew dh made for me waiting in the living room...
