Hello ladies, - just taking the plastic wrapper off a brand new thread Smile

Lifting kids is a bugger. Not sure how you can avoid it though. Brill that you got through your appointment and know what's next. Rads will be okay - scary, but it's okay once you start, and then just a chore getting there every day. Do you know how many you're having? Repeat CT, well WAAAH.. for yes that's terrifying. But then again if you didn't have one it would gnaw away at you. Bloody cancer, eh... fbs laden on the trolley for you. Sounds like you need them. Smile

Eight, really well done on tipping towards the end. What are you having next? Is it taxotere? Sounds like it's not. I didn't realise you were having Herceptin at the same time.

Where's Topsy then?? Are you okay m'dear? We miss you. Smile

Kurri, did you get an appointment??

smee · 13/03/2012 12:00

x-posted Ned -hope coil removal's not too youch. You'll feel so much better once tomorrow's over. Huge round of applause for 8 hours sleep though. Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 13/03/2012 12:09

well done oneineight and gig
and sending lots of calming vibes to ned and 14k tomorrow...ned hope the removal is ok.
Dentist has patched up my tooth (bye bye £49)and have spent another chunk of money on flea stuff from vet- & 2 croissants which are cheering.

smee · 13/03/2012 12:11

MAS, good that the tooth is fixed. Hope it is. Still though, you get croissants from the vet?! Shock Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 13/03/2012 12:28

ha ! I had an urge to go past the Italian shop on the way back from the dentist !

KurriKurri · 13/03/2012 12:37

Aww MAS - you must be very proud, Theo did so well - what a lovely warm tone he has to his voice, and he's such a tall handsome chap!

Good that onc. wasn't too bad Gig - glad you've got it out of the way. And good thoughts for repeat ct. - I know its a wobblesomet thing, I will light candles, but am sure all will be well Smile

1in8 - well done to half way through, and onto the next drug - you are getting there Smile

ned good luck for tomorrow, - will be thinking of you Smile And for coil removal this afternoon, - I've never had one, so am probably passing on well known advice, but have heard others on threads on hear say taking painkillers before your appointment is helpful.

Smee - sounding optimistic for your shoulder - I hope physio gets it sorted for you.

lk4 - good that DS is on the mend.

Quick update on my thyroid,

Gigondas · 13/03/2012 12:42

8 hours Envy - looks at mini gig meaningfully

6 weeks treatment- am more resigned than scared about rads. I will have a sore arse and be tired but am already one of those two.

And re scan - I am glad they are careful and if worse comes to worse , hopefully can catch things early (as wasn't shown as malignant last time).

KurriKurri · 13/03/2012 12:53

Good that tooth is fixed MAS - teeth are troublesome and expensive beasts aren't they?

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 13/03/2012 13:02

thanks for lovely things said about ds kk - am very proud of him Smile
Hope tooth holds up- it's a patch up job, but so far so good -will be careful Grin

topsyturner · 13/03/2012 14:15

Hello all , I is here !

Was at hospital this morning having my post chemo ECG (never mind that I finished chemo 4 months ago) . All is fine with my heart I am glad to say .

Tried to find a breast care nurse to speak to whilst I was there as I have been feeling really breathless since Saturday .
But there is only one breast care nurse working this week in the whole of Belfast !
So the secretary has put me on her list for a phone call instead .

You have all been posting loads recently , I shall go and have a good catch up now .
But hope you are all doing well at the minute .

Gigondas · 13/03/2012 14:23

Mas lovely Singing and tell ds that he even made mini gig stop crying!

KurriKurri · 13/03/2012 14:35

Hello topsy, lovely to see you, but sorry you can't find a BCN to chat to today! - hope they phone you soon.

KK, how rotten about the thyroid. You shouldn't still be going through this. I know there is a suck it and see element to dosage, but even so Angry Hope you can get it sorted soon and start feeling well.

14k - I'll take your other hand. This is the very scary part, just waiting. The odds are still in your favour, you know.

Hi Topsy - good news on the ECG. We've all been talking about the breathlessness thing, it is horrid.

smee · 13/03/2012 15:20

l4k, Kurri's right - best to know and the odds are still good. If you had three hands, I'd take the third. Smile

Kurri, hope you get another appt through soon. Seems so wrong they haven't sorted you.

Waving to Topsy. Sorry you couldn't see a BCN. Great news on the ECG though. I never had one of those.

Waving to Sometimes. Smile

On breathlessness, I'm not sure where we all are with this, but apparently it's a common side effect of menopause. My periods stopped way back on first chemo and am hot flush central, so that kind of fits for me.

MaryAnnSingleton · 13/03/2012 15:22

excellent news about ECG topsy- hope BCN rings- and a comforting arm around 14k
Am glad that ds could stop mini gig crying Smile
Am drawing and painting - a tricky job today I must say...miniature schnauzer in a series of poses in a Scandinavian feel picture (with occasional pattern and colour) I shall need something from the trolley. Dh has just emailed to say he's had a nose bleed !

KurriKurri · 13/03/2012 15:27

MAS - I haven't forgotten you, - my DH had taken the cheque book to work for some unknown reason, he is under strict instruction to bring it home tonight! Apologies, should be in the post tomorrow without fail Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 13/03/2012 15:39

arf- to show how unbusiness-likeI am,I had completely forgotten !!!

AngryFeet · 13/03/2012 15:51

Hi ladies,

2 days until my appt and trying to keep busy and ignore my nerves!

I got the letter through from the hospital saying it is their policy to see everyone within 2 weeks of referral so looks like you were right about it not meaning anything. Still worried though :(

Wishing the week away but also worried about Thursday coming around.

Sometimesiwonder · 13/03/2012 15:59

Where has my post gone? How weird?

it was only to say to AngryFeet - take some deep breaths and stick with us. It's a horrible thing when all yo can do is wait.

Menopause. Fab Hmm I expect you are right, my periods stopped too with the chemo, I am flushy and I sleep badly. Great.

probablyveryunreasonable · 13/03/2012 16:50

Hi everyone. Sorry to gatecrash, I was pointed in this direction. I had an MRI 2 weeks ago - it was screening as we have a strong family history of breast cancer. It was my first one. Today I have had a letter telling me to go for an ultrasound. I rang them up but the receptionist wouldn't tell me why, only that it was something from the MRI.

The appointment isn't for another week. Has anyone had anything like this. Obviously i'm very worried Sad

holstenlips · 13/03/2012 17:26

Hi prob, welcome, I'm not in the know re breast cancer but one or more v nice and knowledgeable folks will be along ..what I can empathise with is the mental agony of waiting, sorry you're in that place. Hang out here x
MAS, what a gifted DS you have, and also wow at your creativity. I'm so jealous, as i have no discernible talents!
Good luck to AF, also playing the waiting game. I wish you all the best x
Gig, well done for getting thru your appt. It's pretty impossible to rest with minis/midis around, I hope you are not in too much pain. So, you have your plan for rads, how manageable is it logistically? I think u r doing amazingly well, you have so much on your plate!
KK, sounds like you feel pretty naff, hope you get something sorted soon (hug)
14k, so sorry to see you are scared :( (big hug) all thinking of you
Good luck Ned for tomorrow, keep on trucking x
So many others, hi hi hi to Smee, topsy, amber , onein8, and everyone Xxx I'm scared of losing my post on my phone!
Aargh, I'm wibbling today ..I can't bring myself to post it, dead cringy. Having a few tears re newish relationship... and the physical side of things. I might feel able to post it later, oh, I'm at work alternate days still, and have meeting with occ health tomorrow xx

amberlight · 13/03/2012 17:37

Angryfeet, yup, the waiting is 'orrible.

Probablyveryunreasonable, welcome Smile. Sometimes the MRI can't tell what's what and they need an ultrasound to work it out. Or in my case, MRI, two ultrasounds and a couple of mammograms and some biopsies Hmm

Yes, being very worried is absolutely normal. Even if they find a something, 9 out of 10 somethings aren't cancer. Even if it is cancer, 9 out of 10 cancers can be reasoned with. So the odds of it being something cancery and rudely behaved are 1 in 100 for the average woman. Family history can alter those odds, but they're still good odds. Hope we can help support you with the waiting bit...

'Afternoon all. Reading and nodding. No news here, really. So will leave out some Brew

MaryAnnSingleton · 13/03/2012 17:38

oh holsten am sorry about wibbliness xxx
probably hope one of the others will be able to shed some light on the MRI - obviously it's worrying for you- stick around for some hand holding
