Hello ladies, - just taking the plastic wrapper off a brand new thread Smile

OP posts:
jchocchip · 03/03/2012 11:22

Mmmmm bacon sarnie just what I need after my run. Figgy Ds suit sounds fab and they are going to have a great time. Scanning photos is a job I could do with doing, I do old ones when I find them at Mums and stick them on facebook which is prob not the best store, but at least mycousin gets to see them.

I did it, ran 5k officially in the park with parkrun. I wouldn't have believed anyone if they had told me last year that I would be running by March. The bc dx has given me a kick to take control of my weight.

Wish I was in Dorset. I must come down soon and see me new niece. I don't know when the christening is, I hope it doesn't clash with my impulsively booked trip...

KurriKurri · 03/03/2012 11:53

Rushing on quickly - to wish everyone a good day. Brilliant running jane - well done you!

Figgy - hope DS2 has a fab time tonight at his prom, it's lovely to see them all dressed up in their dinner suits Smile

My computer is making a dreadful noise, so I can only put it on for five minutes at a time. So any visits will be fleeting today!

But put me down on the rota for sitting firmly on top of the paranoia box Grin

OP posts:
MaryAnnSingleton · 03/03/2012 12:06

I'll sit on the box for a bit Grin
Hooray and well done jane - am in awe-I couldn't run I'm sure.
figgy ds will you fabulously smart in that- looking forward to pictures and hope he has a wonderful time !

topsyturner · 03/03/2012 12:23

Morning all

Presenting for Paranoia Box Sitting duty !
Have got mine much more under control today .

jane bloody well done on the run !

figgy bet you will have a proud mummy moment when you wave ds off tonight Smile

It is a beautiful sunny day here . Think that lifts my mood as much as any drug !

Hope all are feeling well this weekend .

Bath and Tesco for me now .

smee · 03/03/2012 12:57

Ooh Jane 5K's amazing. Really well done. What's Parkrun?!

Ned, glad the sun's shining. Seriously though the way you're feeling sounds ever so familiar. I know it doesn't help when it's you, but maybe it helps a bit to know that you're very normal!!

Figgy, will look forward to your DS's photos. Is he excited about the Prom? Hope he has a fantastic time.

MAS, as you any better??

Gig, hope acupuncturist does effective stuff with her needles. Grin

Waving to all - glad you've got sun too. Bit changeable here, but have just cycled through the park to our absurdly expensive and poncey farmers' market to pick up some gifts for my lovely friend's birthday. I am babysitting for them later so she can go out with her DH. Paranoia box safely sat on here too. Am feeling a bit more positive now I can breathe... Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 03/03/2012 13:32

yes,sunny here too - lovely !
smee still not quite right, voice is a bit squeaky Grin

Gigondas · 03/03/2012 13:42

Smee glad bit more upbeat and Mas Vicks always helps (according to my mil..).

Acupuncture good and nice sunshine here which is nice. Note to self not to open hospital letters . Contents of note from dementor oncologist were as discussed but she wants her money back from charm school as would think I was at deaths door with the various bits on test results etc. I tell you when I go back to work I will think harder about how my communications come across. Somehow surgeon says same thing but not in way that puts dead cold fear in your heart.

So am sitting even more firmly on paranoia box

jchocchip · 03/03/2012 14:23

Oh gig, seeing test results written down gave me a wobbly too. Time for fbs?

The sun has even made it as far as Yorkshire, now, :) First rain in a while was during my run !

Smee, Parkrun is local runs in parks on Saturday at 9am usually. Run by volunteers, you register and have to take a barcode to any race you go to. Just turn up on the day. At the finish line you get a token and then they scan your barcode and you can look at your time on the web later. www.parkrun.org.uk

jchocchip · 03/03/2012 14:36

Oh dear my brother phoned. Mum was on the floor at lunchtime when the carers came so has been packed off to hospital by ambulance. Trying to decide whether to hare down there to see her tonight. :(

smee · 03/03/2012 15:03

Oh no, Jane.. That's a tough call. Did he tell you how bad it was? Sad

topsyturner · 03/03/2012 16:14

Jane am hoping your mum is ok x

Figgyroll · 03/03/2012 16:28

Sorry to hear about your mum, Jane. Sad Any news?

Well done on the 5k run, Jchoc. I'm in awe!!!!

Gig, glad you're feeling the benefit of your acupuncture session.

MAS, I hope your voice gets back to normal soon. Are DH and DS taking the michael? Mine did when my voice was all squeeky.

Smee, are you babysitting a baby, toddler or older? It's very kind of you to give mum and dad a break to go out. You've given me the idea of going out on my bike tomorrow if it's nice and sunny. We could cycle to the beach and along the prom.

Topsy, you're sounding in a much better, brighter mood. Smile

I'm ready for Paranoia Box sitting duties when someone gets a numb bum - just give me a shout.

Yes, DS2 is getting very excited about tonight's Prom - his shoes are polished and we'll set off at 5.15 to make sure we get there on time.

We've hit a snag re scanning photos. Confused. For some reason, my laptop wont connect to DH's printer/scanner in his office despite loading/unloading and reloading correct software. There's lots of *'#'%$@ coming from that direction at the moment. I'm staying out of the way and the dog has his paws over his ears.

Gigondas · 03/03/2012 16:42

Thanks Jane for reassuring me about my wobble but am so sorry to hear about your mum. Any news?

Restorative nap and now have the problem/blessing of mini gig asleep on my tummy . She is in the only sleep on humans stage but I haven't the will to stop
It at this age and it gives me an excuse to do nothing .

MaryAnnSingleton · 03/03/2012 17:00

oh jane - poor mum -what a worry. Take care if you do go to see her today xxxxx
Voice isn't too bad, just feels a bit odd-think it's on my chest a bit. I once lost my voice (years ago) which came back very squeaky and as if i was on helium, much to everyone's amusement.

Huge excitement here as dh has finally worked out how to put his children's novel into a kindle format -all that's needed is a cover illustration and small b&w ones for each chapter. It has been to various publishers as hard copy with my agent, but nothing has come of it,so this seems to be the next step. Though I say it myself,it's crackingly good !

jchocchip · 03/03/2012 17:05

Aargh, loads of housework to do before friends come round tonight. Waiting for my brother to call. He said Mum was reported to be chatty and ok in the ambulance and he blames the riser recliner chair tipping her out. Maybe she dozed off and hit the button? Anyway care agency protocol dictates a trip to a+e. I think I'm going to wait until I hear more before making a decision, I do have a week's leave booked week after next so maybe I would be better getting some loose ends tidied at work Monday and then bring some of that leave forward. Its all a bit stressy here. Heyho, will have a nice Brew and try to chill out. Would like to hit the chocolate, but its still lent :( Been pouring it down here, but did manage a few minutes in the greenhouse, so much for sorting out the garden today!

KurriKurri · 03/03/2012 18:02

Sorry to hear about your mum jane Sad - hope she is OK.

MAS - I didn't know your DH had written a children's novel - well done to him, - I wish him loads of success - the pair of you will be a pretty formidable combination of writer + illustrator Smile

topsy - glad you are feeling brighter today Smile

Gig - things always look awful written down in black and white - I hate seeing any of my notes! - I'm glad you had a good session at acupuncturists.

Smee - good luck with the babysitting - are they little ones who will go off to sleep early so you can put your feet up?

Figgy - any chance of a photo on your profile - I'd love to see your DS in his dinner togs. - hope he has a great evening Smile

Our water is off atm. - DH is swearing and flinging himself around mending a tap - oh joy!

computer still shouting its head off.

OP posts:
smee · 03/03/2012 18:48

Hope your brother calls soon then, Jane. Good to hear she was chatty though.

MAS on helium. Sounds essential. Grin Well done to Mr MAS for his book. That is exciting. Will we be able to read it too?? I hope you're using a top illustrator. Wink

Kurri, hope your DH doesn't do any more damage. Mine does lots of huffing about when he's fixing things too.

Am babysitting a 6 month old. He's utterly lovely. I do love snuggling him, so am hoping he'll wake up! Hope DS's Prom's tremendous. I'd bet he looks fantastic in his Tux. Smile

Right had better go. Hope you all have the best of nights. Don't let Paranoia out of the box whilst I'm gone.. Smile

smee · 03/03/2012 18:48

Just realised that bit from babysitting to Figgy missed her name ! Sorry Figgy, but it's obviously your DS at the Prom!!

jchocchip · 03/03/2012 20:08

Spoken to my brother and Mum is being admitted. No details as yet but guess they will check her over and discharge her Monday maybe.

Having a sloe gin Wine plenty if anyone wants one.

Watched obsessive compulsive hoarder and better than these things usually are as the whole village are helping him deal with the junk. Scarily reminiscent of my late father in law... I must sort out my stash...

KurriKurri · 03/03/2012 20:17

I'm sure they are just being cautious jane - probably ruling anything out. - My dad used to fall or get very unsteady if he had a urine infection, - I think that is quite common in elderly people. She is in the best place, but hope she gets back to her home soon. Elderly parents are a worry I know Sad

OP posts:
jchocchip · 03/03/2012 20:34

My Mum is chair bound though, she doesn't stand, hasn't walked since last May when she broke her leg, so getting out of the chair onto the floor is an achievement of sorts...

Dh's grandma has been discharged home, but has to have all her food puree ed dh was going to go to kent to help his Mum, I think it is close to the end there.

I must see Aunty tomorrow too, she is upset now about her cousin's dh.

Heck, between the three of them, they are a worry.

Maybe I should have gone to Mum this weekend, but selfishly I wanted a bit of time for myself and the family. ds has admitted not going to lectures for at least a week, aaargh, hope he is not going to drop out of uni, I've only just paid this terms rent!

Gigondas · 03/03/2012 20:38

Pours more Wine gin for Jane. You have it all going on.

What subject is ds doing? We have given up asking dss about lectures as its perfectly obvious doesnt go. I am in no position to criticise much as didn't go to many either in my first two years . But dss/me did arts degree so can get away with it more.

And am sure hospital precautionary - I think it's policy for that kind of thing round here when older patients live alone to go to hospital so can assess. A pita but there you go .

MaryAnnSingleton · 03/03/2012 22:29

yes,am sure hospital just want to make sure your mum is ok jane -try not to fret-and you haven't been selfish in wanting some time to yourself..go easy on yourself.
smee is that baby Theo ?
Had v nice dinner at Thai restaurant. Hope figgy's ds has had a lovely evening !

jchocchip · 04/03/2012 07:45

Gig, these boys are a worry , aren't they? Ds is supposed to be reading tripple honours in English Lit, Psychology and Criminology. He chose the course and decided to go. I didn't push him because didn't necessarily think that spending 3 years accumulating student debt was a good idea. Thought he was doing ok at Christmas. Heyho. He is a bright lad, but lacking in maturity and social skills sometimes.

jchocchip · 04/03/2012 07:49

I'll put the Brew on. And fire up the breadmaker for 10am.
