Hello ladies, - just taking the plastic wrapper off a brand new thread Smile

Gigondas · 28/02/2012 15:02

Rushes back to steal snacks. What DVD you watching?

I am profoundly grateful to my mum but NOT for bringing another Barbie DVD for midi gig (I suppose it's only a matter of time before mini gig likes them).

NedSchneebly · 28/02/2012 15:08

Probably something trashy like 27 Dresses or Bridesmaids or Mamma Mia. A dear friend lent me a whole stack of "pink" DVDs! With DH and DS I don't get to watch much pink!

Sounds positive then gig? Hope you OK with it all? At least you've got a) timescale b) treatment plan c) reasoning behind said treatment plan and reasoning for not doing chemo d) positive prognosis e) follow up plan on lung things. Sounds good to me, my lovely! Now you can relax, recover from op properly, enjoy DDs and rev up for the rads. Brew?

thegreylady · 28/02/2012 15:09

Hi again just popping in to read everyone's posts and send positive vibes where needed.I am off to Krakow early Saturday morning to help dh fulfil a life time ambition-feeling a bit nervous but telling myself we will be back in UK this time next week :)

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/02/2012 15:46

ooh, what is Mr greylady going to do in Krakow ?
Hooray for topsy and gig that sounds all v good to me -well done Smile

smee · 28/02/2012 15:49

Ooh yeay, for Gigs and Topsy both having good news. Hip-hip-hooray Smile Smile

Just rushed in to check, so will dash out again. grey lady, what's DH's ambition?? To visit or to do something particular whilst there? Krakow's fab btw, DH and I spent Christmas there before DS was born. Smile

KurriKurri · 28/02/2012 16:01

Good news Gig Smile - that all sounds very positive, and hope you feel reassured and more relaxed now. Have never watched a Barbie DVD, but I am guessing they are as dire as My Little Pony DVD's (of which I've seem many in my time Hmm

Good you enjoyed your potter and have returned laden with snacks and DVD's Ned, your mum sounds like a proper treasure, - always nice to have a girls night every so often Smile

Have a wonderful time Greylady, (a very dear uncle-by-marriage of mine came from Krakow) - I am very intrigued about your DH's ambition - I hope he can achieve it, and it brings him peace Smile.

Have been very organized and made a fish pie, as will have to have an early tea tonight.

Mega well dones to topsy and gig! You got thru today. Gig, I know zero about rads but Hurrah that you have plan now.
I walked ten miles (polishes halo) had a fab walk, was hard but I did it and feel great now. Just onc to see Thursday and hopefully back to work Monday!
So many fbs, what to choose...? I have fresh (bakery) scones here and homemade (neighbour) jam

holstenlips · 28/02/2012 16:13

Oh, KK fish pie is my fave, can I nick that.

holstenlips · 28/02/2012 16:15

Ned, bridesmaids is funny! We have surplus barney the annoying dinosaur here if anyone wants?!

LimeJellyforBrains · 28/02/2012 16:20

Hooray for brilliant news Topsy and Gig x

Ned - if those fbs are an indication of how you eat in your house, I'm coming to live with you! or possibly Kurri - fish pie a favourite here. Right, we'll be having that this week!

DS2 is not yet smelly so still worth a good sniff. DS1 gets a bit 'fragrant' sometimes so I have to be more careful!

Sometimesiwonder · 28/02/2012 16:28

Fish pie

I was going to make that tonight, but ran out of time Sad

KurriKurri · 28/02/2012 16:30

Fish pie is my DD's absolute favourite - so we have it quite often - plenty to go round if anyone wants some, I always make a big one Grin

LJ - the just coming up to teenage years can get very whiffy. Then they discover things like Lynx, - which are possibly a worse smell Grin DS used to have friends over for sleep overs and the whole house would smell of boy toiletries and niffy trainers. DD used to lock herself away for the whole weekend Grin

Well done on a top walk Holsten - that's brilliant going (especially when you think of how lousy you felt a few weeks ago - you've done so well)

Yes, 10 miles is amazing Holsten - hope you're not too stiff tomorrow!

Kurri - how do you do your fish pie? Mash or pastry top? Here I like to put plenty of leeks in with the fish and use frozen puff pastry. I have to make a huge one too - am delighted both boys love fish.

Gigondas · 28/02/2012 16:36

It's nothing to do with polish vodka is it? Greylady you want to avoid that (gig remembers 3 day hangover that was worse than labour).

My mother has also brought Barney DVDs Hmm - think may "tidy" those.

KurriKurri · 28/02/2012 16:48

Mine's very simple LJ. I do mash on top (although puff pastry sounds very yummy) and I use poached smoked haddock (and sometimes some white fish as well) and leeks. Make a white sauce from the liquor I poach the fish in, mix sauce, leeks and sauce, top with mash. Bob's yer Fish Pie Grin

OP posts:
LimeJellyforBrains · 28/02/2012 16:56

Mine's the same as yours then (I soften the leeks, poach the fish and make the sauce all in the same deep frying pan), except for the top, and the fact he's not called Bob Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/02/2012 17:40

oh yum, fish pie is one of my faves !
Grumpy ds back and monosyllabic- has taken a load of food upstairs with him.
He seems to smell ok - quite a clean boy !
holsten -wow ! well done- brilliant walk Grin- what a star !

KurriKurri · 28/02/2012 17:57

I'm off out now - have a good evening all.

OP posts:
SparkleRainbow · 28/02/2012 18:20

Have a good evening.

Topsy I have no idea where he is in Belfast, except he is at some posh hotel for a conference.

Dh's job update....Dh was offered the redundancy, but he found another post within the organsiation in the R&D department, which is a demoted position. He took it as a job is better than no job, money is going to be tight....but thats life. One of our dear friends lightened the mood about it all by saying "Oh R&D, thats Redundancy or Demotion then.....?" He is still having a hard time, and struggling with the whole "I have failed the family by losing my job" angst...but I am trying to hold him together, obviously our other friend tried to hold him together with 7 bottles of red wine on Saturday....but my preferred solution, but they had fun, they weren't sick and the friend went to play football on sunday afternoon....so they must have cast iron constitutions.

Hope everyone ok. Well done topsy and gig for getting through today. I have to go and be the single parent now, ds having a bit of a bad time today, so I will scatter some fbs...fairy cakes, jammy dodgers and peanuts on the fbs trolley as I leave.

LimeJellyforBrains · 28/02/2012 21:05

Reduced price blueberry muffins at the supermarket today....come and get them!

smee · 28/02/2012 21:43

Blueberry muffins are my favourite and Dr Amber will approve.. Grin

Sparkle, hope DS is okay and not in pain.

Holstein, am mighty impressed by 10 miles. Smile

Waving to all others. Hope we all get a good nights sleep. zzzzz

topsyturner · 28/02/2012 22:04

Popping on to say goodnight . Am shattered .

When I took DS for his skin test for his BCG , the nurse decided to do DD at the same time . DD was not impressed Grin

Gig good day for you today , I am glad to hear this Smile

Where's my share of the fish pie ?

Hope everyone is ok tonight . The posting is moving at such a fast clip these days , you must all be skiving on mums net all day long ... Grin

jchocchip · 29/02/2012 06:59

Morning all :) I've read through the posts but can't do a mega post now, I've got to go out soon (for a run Shock. Ned It wasn't me recommending buff, think it may have been my twin smee.

Glad to hear gig has a plan and topsys test was ok and :) at the minitopsys both getting their bcg test at the same time.

Well done holsten, hope you are not too achy today.

Good to hear mrsparkle has a new job. Pain about losing the old one, but hopefully the wine incident has put it all into perspective...

Funeral today, so I will have to set off fairly early to get there for 12, but may pop back for a Brew first.

MaryAnnSingleton · 29/02/2012 07:46

will be thinking of you today jane - hope it goes as well as it can.
Am glad Mr sparkle has new job- am sure he will rise up to where he was before and blossom- lots of good thoughts for him in feeling better about it all.
How is junior *sparkle8 this morning?
Hope topsy's BCG-ers are recovered from their ordeal Grin
Ds doing some drama thing ( part of his GCSE ) after school- so hope he won't be ill tempered later..there are no fbs except for plain bagels and a teacake for him. The quite nice thing about no choc. is that nothing really compensates so I don;'t bother after a while.
