ILGC - glad to hear your/ daughter's news! Also, I remember mention of you having a evening out/date? how did it go?

Ilovegeorgeclooney · 16/12/2011 23:07

It was purely platonic and we had a great time, indeed he was much more considerate than my DH was, 30 years( we met on my first day at uni ) had slightly changed his attitude!!!! I still miss DH far too much to consider a date, he was a funny, gorgeous, caring chap and I was privileged to be loved by him. However Christmas is much more organised without him sticking his oar in! One year he came in at 3pm to tell me he had bought a pony for DD1 on Christmas Eve!!?!! I had to rush out in a feeble attempt to make DS and DD2 feel they had presents of an equal value!!! Much missed but at least I know that I am keeping to the the list!

MaryAnnSingleton · 16/12/2011 23:11

fabulously fantastic news about dd ILGC -I am so happy for you !!! you absolutely deserve such good news !
SR and ILGC -will
definitely see drama teacher in the new year - I am hoping he can break through this barrier- he sings in front of others without difficulty, but I think he is very confident in his abilities there.
drift sorry that you have lost your dad, but very glad it wasn't a child.

MAS bonkers is the word of choice, although very much the devoted Daddy!

KurriKurri · 16/12/2011 23:26

Grin at the pony - he does sound like a wonderful man ILGC.

KurriKurri · 16/12/2011 23:27

MAS - got your PM, bless you xx

jchocchip · 16/12/2011 23:31

So pleased to hear your news ilgc! Wow. Impulse buying a pony on christmas eve lol :)

Girls have started tidying their rooms so feels like the house may be tidy enough to go away next week. Neighbour is feeding the cat so we can't leave too much chaos :)

jchocchip · 17/12/2011 09:51

Morning all. Time for a quick Brew? I have remembered to order sil's flowers this morning, phew. Dashing shopping with dd2 soon and ds is coming home from uni today. Its all go Xmas Smile

KurriKurri · 17/12/2011 10:08

Oh yes please jane, cheers Brew, I am just having a sit down having got up earl and wrapped all my parcels phew, - it's a job I hate, I always seem to lose the end of the sellotape, then it twists round and sticks to itself, then I throw it across the room Grin

have fun shopping, It'll be lovely to see your DS Smile - has he got a long journey?

topsytinselturner · 17/12/2011 11:58

Morning (just Grin )

ILGC that is fantastic news about your DD ! I am so pleased for you all . Couldn't possibly be better could it ?

And I am so loving your DH doing the pony on Christmas Eve thing , what a man Grin

Bought DD this dress last night www.marksandspencer.com/Autograph-Cotton-Statement-Print-Dress/dp/B005NENOLU?ie=UTF8&ref=sr_1_21&nodeId=56937031&sr=1-21&qid=1324122852

It's for Christmas day and for our family lunch tomorrow . Got her some little red patent ballet slippers to wear with it . But can we find tights aswell ? No we darn well can't !

So that's what I am doing this afternoon , yes the busiest shopping day of the year , and I am going out looking for tights !!!

MaryAnnSingleton · 17/12/2011 12:16

that is beautiful and grown up topsy -lucky girl. I think you could have black tights with the red ballet shoes- that'd look very chic.

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 17/12/2011 12:43

That's a very pretty dress topsy, - good luck with the tights - it might not be as bad as you think, DH went out earlier and said it was very quiet, maybe people have been frightened off because they think it will be heaving.

Figgyroll · 17/12/2011 13:20

Afternoon all. Xmas Smile

Fantastic news about your DD, ILGC. I bet you're all on Cloud Nine. I'm still giggling about the pony on Christmas Eve. Xmas Grin.

Yay for tidy house Jane. I love it all tidy and spick and span before we go anywhere.

Having a nice quiet day in - it's pouring here. My hip feels a lot better thank goodness. I think I might bake a cake.

Do you remember me having a bit of a rant about DH's friends who hadn't been in touch? Well, they've all been in touch now and we're seeing some of them in a couple of weeks so, you were right, it was a case of them not wanting to intrude. I'm glad it's turned out okay. Xmas Smile.

Figgyroll · 17/12/2011 13:23

Forgot to say - what a gorgeous dress, Topsy. Good luck with the tights. Black ones would look lovely too, like MAS suggests. DS1 said it was quiet everywhere too. I did a quick survey amongst my friends the other day and most of us have done our Christmas shopping online this year. I think the shops are feeling the pinch.

MaryAnnSingleton · 17/12/2011 13:54

oh that's good news about the friends figgy Xmas Smile

sandripples · 17/12/2011 14:02

ILGC - yes, fantastic news, I'm really happy about this!!

My DS and I have been to the Manchester Christmas markets this am. They are really good, as usual, plus we got there by 10 before it got too busy AND had a good hour or more shopping before the rain started. DS got lots of shopping done for his girlfriend! And I got a few nice bits and pieces. Enjoyed having hot lunch standing up in the drizzle! (No seriously, I did!)

Nice dress and nice knitted mice! Haven't got any decorations out yet - will try to start today. DH and DS are both out this eveminmg so I think I'll put the marzipan on the 2 cakes I've made, and revise my order for on-line Christmas delivery ie get sorted out.

Raises a glass of virtual Wine to the memory of S, a bc friend of mine who died last night.
She and I were travelling the same path at the same time in the same hospital with the same consultants... Xmas Sad...why aren't there the right words for these things...
