yay- concert was v good, and we left at half time, back home in time for the end of Professional Masterchef and Rev !
Dad says he took my mum to the surgery for a check up and they had the nurse who did my smear (the one I know) Obviously I hadn't told them of that embarrassment but I'd mentioned her before (she has an unusual name so memorable) and so mum said 'oh yes,you know my daughter' etc..dad thought she was very nice - she said my mum is a bit underweight so should feel free to 'stuff her face' at Christmas Xmas Grin

MAS - Grin at what must have been a discreet exit during the interval. We had dd home last week and she came with us to support a dear friend performing in a Christmas choral evening. ds and his gf came along to show willing/spend time with his sister. I was fully expecting it, at the interval they made their excuses! Envy it was heavy stuff.

MaryAnnSingleton · 15/12/2011 23:17

Xmas Grin !

Glad you enjoyed your concert mas. No such culture for me, Thursday night and two halves of real ale down the pub :) It's gone cold out there now, hope the roads are ok tomorrow morning.

Gosh it's later than I thought. Nighty night.

Figgyroll · 16/12/2011 07:12

Morning all. Reporting in on my new laptop so sporadic postings should be a thing of the past now. Smile

Brew available and toast or crumpets too.

Sending good wishes to all those who are having rads and treatment today - hope it goes smoothly.

My hip is very 'ouch' - I think it's a trapped nerve. But I've also woken up with a sore throat. Thank goodness it's the last day of term.

MaryAnnSingleton · 16/12/2011 07:25

yay for new laptop figgy but gggrrr about throat...hooray for last day of term. Am hoping ds remembers to bring back his PE kit for washing - he also has dentist at 4.

Morning all Time for a Brew I think, kettle on here. Yes hurray for the last day of term, have to take dh to his Christmas meal at lunchtime though 12 miles away so just looking for a nearby pool for a swim, otherwise it may be a trip to Ikea for me... I will join him prob once they have eaten, and it is not worth driving all the way home and back for a couple of hours.

topsytinselturner · 16/12/2011 09:28

Morning All

Am on the bus on the way home from rads . That's another week over .
Sadly some idiot opened a Tesco Metro right beside my bus stop , and I slipped and fell and bought a bag full of fbs !
Well it is Friday Grin

My DC don't finish school till next Wednesday . And then DH finishes on the Thursday .
Suppose I really should start wrapping the pressies ...

Plans for the weekend anyone ?
Its a lovely one for me .
My father in law takes us all (DH is one of 6 , all with partners and children , plus a couple of mad aunts !) out for a posh hotel christmas lunch . And pays for it all !
Its lovely and chaotic , normally ends up being about 30 of us .
I shall be wearing my new red shoes . Tres Christmassy Grin

cakesandale · 16/12/2011 09:35

waves to figgy and Drift. Sorry abut the bugs though. Yuk Sad

Glad the concert was good MAS - or at least the first half. Grin

We have a nice w/e planned. DD is going to her Nan's tomorrow and DH and I are off for our usual trip to the German market and then the Jules Holland Christmas concert at the NIA. As per usual we left it really late getting tickets and are right at the back, but it is fab. Local - ish ladies, I can really recommend it. Shane McGowan was to be special guest this year but we had an email two months ago saying he was too ill - poor soul.

jchocchip · 16/12/2011 09:40

Well done Topsy - fbs are required as a reward for another week done Xmas Grin Family Christmas lunch sounds lovely. Wish we weren't so scattered, we hardly ever all meet up, won't do it at Christmas this year. Will have a christening soon, no doubt, but Mum can't travel. I will have a couple of cousins nearby at Christmas but without all ther families. Will do the rounds of dh's family in Kent next week, weather permitting Xmas Smile

smee · 16/12/2011 09:45

Waving to Drift. Hope you feel better today.

Figgy, that hip sounds ouch. Don't run after the kids today, just let them come to you with gifts. Grin A crumpet would be lovely please.

Yeay for Friday fbs, Topsy!! Kind of wish my DS was at school for a few more days too as I've so much to do, but he breaks up today. School concert yesterday was very sweet. And yes of course I found it hard not to cry too. Something about children singing that always sets me off, and even more so since BC. We've got a very small school hall, so the kids are shuttled in in year groups to do their bit. Joseph wandered off to play with his baby brother just as the wise men arrived. Mary set off in pursuit and told him off. Grin

Hope you find a pool at lunchtime, Jane. You are a committed swimmer. Far too cold for me atm, though maybe that's because I have to cycle to the pool

Am going out with a lovely old friend tonight, so that will be a treat. Xmas Smile

cakesandale · 16/12/2011 09:52

Topsy, your rads department sounds very organised, I spent hours languishing in mine each day. FBSs should be on prescription, they keep the spirits up. Good old Tesco Metro.

The Xmas concert sounds fab, smee. I too am more teary since BC.

MaryAnnSingleton · 16/12/2011 10:33

hooray for nice weekends for topsy and cakes - hope everyone else's is good too. I have chocolate brownies here....

OP posts:
cakesandale · 16/12/2011 10:37

Oh no!!

Chocolate brownies! And just when I have turned over a new leaf and am trying to avoid all sugar!!

Really it is quite sad that I still have that much self-belief Grin

jchocchip · 16/12/2011 10:45

Yipee. I couldn't find a pool near dh's lunch (one that had a public session anyway) but a friend rang offering him a lift, so I don't have to take him and can wander to my usual pool. It's not worth getting the bike out and cycling to, we can just about see the pool across the park - it was one of the reasons why I wanted this house! In a straight line from the garden wall it is about 150 metres. A little bit further than that walking past 3 houses to the park gates... but that wall is high :) I used to do early morning swims before work but with the cutbacks we don't have any of those sessions left :( We pay monthly though so the more times I go, the cheaper each swim works out! But the real reason I am knocking out the miles is that I want to eat chocolate. I've started a net calories diet and I'm on 1500 a day...

jchocchip · 16/12/2011 10:49

Mmmmm chocolate brownies :) yes please Xmas Grin

smee · 16/12/2011 11:05

DS's school allows them to have a small chocolate treat in lunch boxes on Friday, so he has a brownie. Unbeknownst to him I cut the end off for me. Grin

OneInEight · 16/12/2011 11:22

What does fbs stand for? - I can sort of guess its the sweet stuff but can't work out the initials. Glad concert was good. We are celebrating becuase ds2 passed his grade 1 piano - he has done really well as my musical knowledge is nil so was not much help with the practising. Was a bit naughty yesterday and drove for the first time since op. - no ill effects though and good to be mobile again.

smee · 16/12/2011 11:33

fbs = fat boy snacks. Essential to recovery from BC. Grin

Glad you're feeling well enough to drive. When do you start what's next? Am guessing nothing until after Christmas? Hope you're feeling okay about it all.

OneInEight · 16/12/2011 12:44

Thanks Smee - I don't think I would have worked that one out. Even d.h. agrees chocolate-therapy is the way to go. Should have an appointment with the oncologist next week but am guessing nothing will start till January so can enjoy Christmas in peace.
