I remember being a bit Shock and intrigued watching Rudolf Nureyev in tights when I was young!

KK - hope you're OK today?

Doing garden jobs today.

KurriKurri · 07/11/2010 12:46

RWU the young farmers appear to have many talents Grin

SR - meant to say Friday sounded like a lovely day for you, - it's so good when you are able to do things you haven't been able to for a while, and also have a bit of time for reflection on life in generalSmile

I am feeling a bit better today, not so painful when I move around which is good. A lot of bruising on my stomach but I think is a good thing the bruises are coming out.

Have been eating lots of prunes (yum) to counteract the effects of the codeine (TMI again?)

Needless to say the dog has decided all she wants to do is jump up and sit on my lap, and is looking very hurt when I say no Grin

Hope everyone is having a good w/e. I stocked up with loads of library books last week, so am having a lazy day again. (Frightened myself silly with a Susan Hill ghost story!)

reallywoundup · 07/11/2010 16:52

just been riding! apparently when i said i could ride they didn't realise i meant "ride like that... wow!" so it appears that it all came flooding back, i had a lovely time took it over some jumps and then went for a wander back to the house to show dh- much to the amusement of the neighbours who thought i'd gone all 'good life' and swapped the car in for a horse as i tethered it on the driveway while i had a cuppa Grin

So i'm in for a long cold winter, it's being kept at my ex-uncle-in-laws (i think that's right... very confusing.... ex's uncle anyway!) so its a 5 mile drive over there, but after today i'm really looking forward to the long hacks and exercising it over the hills!

sandripples · 07/11/2010 18:33

Sounds fab RWU!

Glad you're recovering KK - take things easy for at least a wekk I think.

smee · 07/11/2010 19:39

Kurri, your op Shock. Sounds terrifying. Definitely no boogying to 'Sweet Gene Vincent' just yet then. They did it in the show. I'm sure you'd have have loved it. We danced, though I use that term loosely! More jumping up and down and yelling the lyrics. Was great fun. Grin Hope you're still feeling okay, though general anaesthetics take a while to get over, let alone the op itself. Take care not to rush it.

SR, hark at you with your swimming and dancing. Am mighty impressed, especially as it's your first week back at work

And RWU too - are there no end to your talents?! should think a gallop or two might help get you through the next week or so. Hope you're alright amidst it all.

MAS, your son's amazing as I'm sure I couldn't sing in front of others. Hope he gets a place. Going to NY at his age would be astounding.

Nothing much to tell here. Busy weekend with show, fireworks and all manner of other trivia. Will look forward to Rads for the rest I think. Onwards into the cold then. I have three jumpers on.. Grin

reallywoundup · 07/11/2010 20:19

kk- took me ages to get over my last GA so i echo what smee says- take it very easy for a while.

smee- i may have found the limit to my talents- my muscles! took me a good 20 mins to get off the sofa to sort out tea- i've found muscles today i didn't know i had.... and certainly didn't know i could strain Wink

i'm still grinning from ear to ear that it all came flooding back so easily, has been a welcome distraction to the recent horrible moments. Have told dh i'm off again tomorrow afternoon while dd's at nursery, i might take it out for a nice wander to the river for a paddle Grin kids enoyed their pony too- very docile, and they grew in confidence over the afternoon, the boys all start lessons next weekend, so hopefully by christmas they'll be off the lead rein and coping with the pony on their own!

SIL has just rung to remind me that we are going to see blood brothers on the 20th Shock had TOTALLY forgotten Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 07/11/2010 21:13

am totally impressed by riding skills RWU !!
smee - gflad you enjoyed the show !
and KK rest up and take care Smile

OP posts:
reallywoundup · 08/11/2010 08:38

ouch....... anyone got a spare bum and legs i can borrow? Grin

MaryAnnSingleton · 08/11/2010 09:03

can the YFs do a rub down ?

OP posts:
reallywoundup · 08/11/2010 09:12

ooooh! there's an idea lol! but sadly they are probably too busy shaving their legs and buying new tights for the eisteddfod final at the weekend Grin

BTW mas- celeste is getting more gorgeous by the day! Good luck with Theo's singing audition results- do let us know how he got on when you find out!

MaryAnnSingleton · 08/11/2010 10:06

Grin thank you RWU - will let you know how T gets on !

OP posts:
Cakesandale · 08/11/2010 10:14

Belated good wishes for Theo's audition MAS, I bet he'll do great. And imagine going to NY at his age, what an experience that would be.

I am still boggled at the thought of RWU's young farmers in tights, that's something I'd like to have seen!

KK - that experience sounds horrific. Sympathies to you, and a calm-down pill to me, as I am having the nerve in my arm decompressed in the middle of next month. Deep breaths. Mine is 1 days before Christmas - no wonder they had a free slot, how inconvenient.

off now to get a blood test ready for my BC check-upo n Wednesday. I hate this. it always put me on edge: same for all of us, I know.

sandripples · 08/11/2010 10:14

You wouldn't want my legs - or indeed any part of my body RWU. After my w/e of dancing, swimming and gardening I feel stiff all over - groan!

MAS - when you hear T's results from the audition? Sorry I think I've lost the plot on this one - did you say he goes to NY if he gets through?

KurriKurri · 08/11/2010 10:29

Riding sounds great RWU, - despite saddle soreness,Grin, and pleased the children are enjoying the experience too. (My sister used to have a couple of horses on her farm, and my DC loved having pony rides when we went to stay with her).

yes let us know how Theo gets on MAS, keeping fingers crossed for him Smile

Good luck with rads for this week Smee. Show sounds as if it was good fun.

Hospital phone this morning to say I can take dressings off and have a bath on wednesday, can't wait - its so cold having a shower in our bathroom at this time of year! Am feeling a bit sick today - think it might be the anti inflamms upsetting my stomach, so might lay off them soon.

DD goes back to Sheffield today, has been lovely having her here even for such a short visit. She is learning sign language and loves it, she was demonstrating and teaching me a few things to saySmile It is a sort of immersion class - they don't use anything but signing to speak.

Hope everyone has a good week Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 08/11/2010 11:48

Great news about the dressings coming off and the bath KK !

Hope rads are ok for you this week smee
T should hear maybe today [nervous face] -they said asap anyway...if he gets in it'll be so fab for him- he is desperate to go (he is obsessed with city scapes/sky scrapers and the USA) they will stay near Central park and visit all the sights, plus Ground Zero and will perform at a number of venues (Carnegie Hall ?! i think probably not !)
It'd do his self confidence a whole heap of good.
Have just done my 45 mins of mindful yoga so feel virtuously stretched- off to the post office (for Cakes, plus have other things to post, collect dh's ceramic tidy thing from the collecting office too) Will drive as it's too miserably wet to walk.
Collecting my 7 yr old from drama club later then whisking Celeste off to her 2nd injection.
Good luck with blood test Cakes (eeee) anbd try not to get stressed about check up - hard not to.
Btw - I ordered a book about Sibling Grief and it's quite excllent, mainly because it rings so many bells with me-am sure it is going to be a big help.

OP posts:
KurriKurri · 08/11/2010 11:59

Cakes - I managed to completely x post with you. Good luck with the check up, always nerve racking I know, but good to get it out of the way. And also good luck with your arm, - ignore my tale of woe - I think it is fairly uncommon, and I have never had anything like that happen before, -you will be fineSmile

Hope Celeste's injection goes fine MAS( was she bothered by the last one?)

How is work going SR? are you part time atm? (am sure you have explained but my memory is very sieve-like Smile)

Cakesandale · 08/11/2010 12:10

Thanks for good wishes. blood test now done, they had to take it from the arm they aren't supposed to: apparently my chemo arm is 'absolutely useless' Hmm: have to get used to it really, as the chemo arm is the one I am having surgery on, so am guessing the cannula is going to have to go into the one I've had the nodes taken from. Bugger.

Roll on Wednesday for the bath, KK, showers aren't the same, are they?

Good luck smee for rads, and Theo for the audition. let us know when we can uncross things as it can get mighty uncomfy (and hard to type).

I'd just like to say there has been far too much exercising going on on this thread of late - and i am looking particularly at RWU and SR {stern face]. It is making me feel most inadequate. And fat.

And one more thing for the X Factor obsessed - either Matt (for the singing) or Wagner (for the laughs) to win!

Lixa · 08/11/2010 13:01

Hi everyone - newbie here.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in June, and told it has spread to my liver & bones. Just finished 6 cycles of TAC chemo and am about to start Tamoxifen.

The chemo seems to have worked - everything has shrunk quite a lot (the areas of cancer in my liver & bones were all very small anyway, thank heavens), but they told me last week they have decided not to do a lumpectomy as I have it in too many areas and it's not worth it. So now I feel a bit hopeless tbh :( . Theyw ere talking about radiotherpay too but I'm not sure if they've changed their minds on that too. Meeting doctor on Thurs, so hopefully know more then.

So I'm supposed to start Tamoxifen this week! A friend pointed me towards you lot - I hope you don't mind me joining in!

Can I ask - has anyone else here got secondary cancer?
